So I am going to do the big 3 on my 2001 Jetta. I am going to be using 4awg. When you guys upgrade the alt. to the battery positive is it a straight run, from alt. to battery? I dont know much about cars but my cousin said the the wire goes from the alt. to the starter than to the battery, is it like this with all cars?

ive got a 300 amp alt that is made for a 08 ram. its a 6 groove pulley though, my old one is 7, can i put the 7 groove belt on the 6 groove pulley without changing the pulley?

Ok heres the deal Im trying to figure out the best way to do this so everything is compatible. First, I will be installing 2 shallow mount earthquake sws 8" subs under the front seats in a bmw 5 series which will be replacing the factory subs and one dcon 10" in the trunk. The earthquake subs will be run as a sort of midrange/sub and can only handle about 150rms. The dcon is good for 300rms. My questions are: What impedences should I get for the subs? Dcon 10 and earthquake? What amp would be best? 3 or 4 channel? 4 channel run in 3 channel mode? Any recommendations on amp? Maybe a link or advise on how to wire it up? '

Hi SSA, 1- I want to know what's a line driver specifically for? 2- Also is it worth having? 3- I've heard that the higher the voltage the better, but I don't really know what is meant by that. Ok, first of all, whats the most impressive system that you've seen, in terms of small. Like didnt thumper's 10"s do like 141 db? Along the likes of small subs getting loud, or really loud single sub systems... And the other thing, my friend is asking me about the "G's" of some subs... What the hell? He could be dumb enough to be talking about gravity... well, i come back to him saying "Gs?" and he says "Exactly u don't kno nothing about speakers... Every speaker has g-forces or it wuldnt play..." then the rant began.... bah haha

After doing a little more critical listening of my 2 Havoc 15s in a 5.4 cu ft sealed box, I'm not really sold on the sound. My goals were a LOUD hard hitting system that sounds good on anything from hip hop to rock. Transient response and chest-thumping bass are vital to me, so I went with a sealed box initially for the sake of simplicity and a starting point to improve on. I'm not overly impressed with the sound quality, however. It plays extremely LOW, 20Hz has my truck falling apart and my ears pressurized, but ask it to play music or a 50Hz bass line and it falls way down leaving much to be desired. Above 50Hz leaves you wondering what happened to those huge speak…

I'm sitting in front of the computer brainstorming different setups..trying to find the right sub is just like buying a new car for the first time *Two Zv4 18's with spl cone and nsv2 coil powered by two AA 3800's *Two sp4 18's fully upgraded powered by two sundown scv 4000's The subs and amps I still have floating around is the B2 audio M1s, nightshade v3. and Scv 6000, CT 4000.1

Does anyone see a need for lower priced High end installation accessories? What I'm saying is if you could get the Expensive Stinger, Tsunami, EFX stuff for a hair more than Knukonceptz would you buy it? Or Dynamat for that matter? How about some specialty tools that are not readily available to the average DIYer? Give me some feedback please. This is important.

Well my starting batt decided to poop out today. I noticed a lower charging voltage than normal, I shut my truck off and voltage dropped from 12.8 to 12 with in 5 min so my front batt is pulling my rear batt down. I went outside an hour later and it was at 10.5 so I'm guessing bad cell in my front batt, it is 5 or 6 yrs old. So I am prolly gonna get a dura last platinum. It's the agm version of the duralast gold. Any other suggestions?

Well, on the Fisher Customs site, there is an enclosure for sale for a HDC3 15", 4.02 @ 36 hz.. Then I look at their loaded enclosures and there is the SSA ICON 15", 4.0 Cubic Feet, Tuned to 32 hz.. I'm going for something more SPL, based. I love the lows, but I also like the sub to be able to go through the higher ranges nicely too. So I'm not too sure which to go with? Any opinions and experienced users of either with some stories would be nice. Note this will be in a Honda Civic 2005 coupe, I will do what I have to do to make the box fit... but if anyone else has a Civic I'd like to now how easy it is to fit 4.0 cubes in the trunk. Mine decided to blow up earlier today while i was working on my new box.... pissed me off cause i would have had it done by now but no it had to die. hey nice place! i have slowly been putting money back into my car with pretty solid results. i was wondering what advice or comments you have for the next step. i took some time away from car audio and got the home system going. My home system took the cake and i just had to upgrade the car. i drive a 97 4 door grand am with no tint. alpine 9827 - upgraded the 4x6 in the front doors with polk momo 5 1/4. i upgraded my mono -mrv100 alpine amp with a 5 channel alpine-353. for $115 new. i have a pair of infinity refrence 6x9's in the back that have been used for 6 years. they need to go and i was looking at ebay for some momo's. and my sub is one of the older polk d…

So I decided I was going to finish deadening my car tonight. Only part left was the floor. Now in hopes of being a little more efficient than the ole' heat gun, I used an oven I purchased for powder coating. Awesome deal for $30. Anyways, I cut all the pieces to fit, then removed the backing, slapped them face down on the aluminum side and let them sit for 5 minutes each at 200 degrees. Worked out pretty good. Hell of a lot quicker than sitting there fanning the heat gun back and forth. If anyone has this option available to them, I suggest trying it. Don't let them sit for too long though or the adhesive(read asphalt) will start to bubble and overflow onto the ove…

I have an Xpress Capacitor(new) I'm trying to install and it's not quite working. I charged it correctly but when I measure it with a voltmeter, it only measures 3.5V I tried to install it anyways, hoping that it will charge the rest by itself. So I hooked it up right next to the amp. The digital readout doesn't display. I followed the instructions and it doesn't work. I asked a friend and he said I should try hooking up a remote wire to the cap. Any ideas?

Has anyone messed with the SHURiKEN SK-BT120 batteries? it says it 120 AH and 2600 cranking amps an AGM for 270.00 to good to be true? i know Sonic Electronix is good, seeing how i've dealed with them before. but the battery is what im worried about.

I know there are a ton of choices out there but wondering what everyone is using here. Right now RAAMat looks like the choice for me, followed by Fatmat or Edead. Feel free to post away.
