I was at my local shop today. Now, this shop is pretty popular around town. It's a small shop but a lot of 1st and 2nd place bass race and spl comp guys come out of this shop and compete at Carl Casper. There show room is flooded with trophies right now so you would think that they have a LOT of info in the audio world. While i am researching for the best subs that would meet my application, i was just curious as to what they would suggest me. They sell off the top of my head - Alpine, Soundstream, Powerbass, JBL and a couple others but nothin bigger than them that i remember. Anyways, i asked the guy if he could recommend a 10" sub for a ported box that would do well …

Ok, first of all, whats the most impressive system that you've seen, in terms of small. Like didnt thumper's 10"s do like 141 db? Along the likes of small subs getting loud, or really loud single sub systems... And the other thing, my friend is asking me about the "G's" of some subs... What the hell? He could be dumb enough to be talking about gravity... well, i come back to him saying "Gs?" and he says "Exactly u don't kno nothing about speakers... Every speaker has g-forces or it wuldnt play..." then the rant began.... bah haha

*sigh* So those of you who have been following my build know I'm knee-deep in my door pod project. My initial goal was to create a front stage that was pleasing to listen to, had accurate imaging and soundstaging, and produced good volume. So after trying all different combinations of mounting locations, gain adjustments, balance shifts, attenuations, and equalizations, the best solution I came up with was mids in door, crossfiring, and tweets in sail (attenuated away from the driver). It produced no soundstage to speak of but it sounds decent. So after disconnecting my new fronts to finish the pods, I hook up my old Kenwood 2-ways on the rear deck (facing upwards) so I'l…

Alot of people on this forum ask what vehicle a setup is gonna go into as a factor for selecting what kind of equipment they recommend. What I would like to know is, Are there certain vehicles that are better suited for a certain application? I.E. Vans for SPL? Cars for SQ? I know my question is pretty vague but I guess what I'm asking is, is there a direct relationship from the amount of air displaced by the sub to the amount of air in the cab of the vehicle to achieve maximum spl or sq? If there is, what would be the formula for finding the max airspace for any given sub configuration. For instance, having the same 1200 watt amp, electrical, HU, even leather seats, will…

Spoke with Nick @ IA this morning. Customer service there never ceases to amaze. Anyway, got wind of some pro audio woofers coming. I can't say when, but I'm pretty stoked. Also a new Flatlyne coming. I'm glad they're branching out and expanding as a company. Congratulations IA! Now send me 2 of the new DR 12's, and 2 of the Pro Woofers. LOL

I have a 4 channel amp (Alpine PDX 4.150) I have a component set with passive crossovers. I have a dual 4 ohm 8" sub. Channel 1 on the Left Front Channel 2 on the Right Front Channel 3 on one of the 2 4 ohm voice coils on the sub Channel 4 on the other 4ohm voice coil I thought the amp would bridge down to 2 ohms but it does not so can I power each of the 4ohm voice coils off one channel of the amp? Thoughts? The Hammer

I would like to run an IB sub (ski pass) setup in my new vehicle (2015 honda accord coupe) but I'm unsure if its a smart idea to cut the rear seat back. In previous vehicles w/ a 60/40 split rear seat I would lay down one of the rear seat sections. However, this vehicle the entire rear seat back is steel and does not have a split section that I can lower. Also, there is no pocket arm rest in the center like most sedans which people commonly vent through. Can I remove a section of metal and vent through the foam/leather seat? For low frequencies I think I would be fine... How much metal should I remove? Some percentage of SD? …

just finished putting a memphis pr10 in a 1ft^3 box, tuned to about 37-38 hz ( i lenghtened the port 3/4" ofer the recommended, which would have been 40hz), being pushed by a memphis pr140...yep, a whooping 70 wrms!! anyway...ummmm..WOW! while not a spl monster, it is loud! i am definitely going to have to find a 200-250 wrms amp and see what happens! some pics soon...i didn't take pics of the build, but i will take some of the semi finished box ( i will carpet it gray in a week or so).. it's also very musical.i am indeed impressed. maybe it was thinking how loud it wouldn't be,it is just 70 wrms and check my sig to see what i'm used too, that i set myself up for failure.…

I have 4 gauge power wire going to my two ppi 2100's. I will be adding a US Amps 100 HC for a sub amp. Can I run 4 gauge to it or do I need to step up to 1/0 gauge? Also what would be the perfect set up? What I mean is, I have a diesel truck with two 750 amp batteries and a 136 amp alt. Will this be ok to run this set up? What needs to be changed? Thanks

I'm getting ready to install and aftermarket sub and amp to my friends Ford Edge. I have a Stinger LIne Output Converter for the Edge. Problem is....is that they don't make one for the 07'. It's the same wire scheme, but I can't directly hook it up using the factory harness. I was going to cut and splice the wire and hook it up that way, but not sure which wires are positive, negative, and which wire is the ground. I really need your help. Everything is ready to go except this step. Photo of the Factory harness from the Edge. This harness hooked into the factory amp.

I have an Xpress Capacitor(new) I'm trying to install and it's not quite working. I charged it correctly but when I measure it with a voltmeter, it only measures 3.5V I tried to install it anyways, hoping that it will charge the rest by itself. So I hooked it up right next to the amp. The digital readout doesn't display. I followed the instructions and it doesn't work. I asked a friend and he said I should try hooking up a remote wire to the cap. Any ideas?

I will be soon upgrading some components in my system. I have a new SAZ-1500d v.2 that will be paired up with an Xcon 12. I will also be getting a DC Power 180 amp alternator and will do the Big 3 also. I just have some questions. I haven't ever worked on a system dealing with this much power, and just want to make sure I have everything that I need. First, my current setup is a dual amp setup using Rockford 1000-1bd amp and alpine pdx-4.100. I used a 1 Farad capacitor (Ya, I know ) basically as a distrubution block for those amps. Electrical is stock. The capacitor will go away when I upgrade, so I have been looking at distribution blocks. I know I will need a…
