i was wondering how many of you guys use ipods over cd's and cd changers in your cars? do you get the same quality out of the ipods that you would from cd's? this may sound stupid and i know it doesnt make sense so please correct me here, but im under the impression that music will play louder and better from cd's over using a ipod...again i know it sounds stupid..but id like to hear some opinions from the ipod users here

I am making a list of everything I need for my system and I need help. I plan on getting a Fi BL 18 loaded with a Sundown 1500 watt amp with a 10 cubic foot box tuned at 30hz. I want to use one of Sundown multi channel amps for the mids and highs probably the 100.4. I am gonna get a new starter battery and a battery for the trunk, isolate the battery in the trunk and get a larger alternator. Run all power and grounds 0 gauge. These are the things I am not sure of yet, what head unit to get, what mids and highs to get, what crossover to get, what brand of batteries to get, what size of alternator, and what type of equalizer. I can't think of anything else at the moment. I…

Which companies make/assemble their audio equipment in asia? Tc? Inifinity? Polk? I figured people on here would know more of the truth because they are in competition with these companies..then lets talk a bit more about tc sounds..their drivers are made in china as well?

yes, I know kicker isn't a real high end brand but i got an excellent deal on 2 12 inch L5s and a kenwood kac 9152D 900 rms mono amp. the guy i bought them from built a very piss poor box out of subflooring material and basically gestimated a slotted port dimension. the box performs about as well as a dual brand bandpass box. he was using a head unit with a very good EQ and in his integra the drivers performed well all things considered. in my jeep however, they only operate (I'm guessing here) in the 50 to 65 hz range well and only give me a bit of a hum in the low range. now, I know you can still get a good low end response out of a set of 12s. I've witnessed this. I've…

but this should be pretty fun otherwise. Hello guys my name is Chris and I've been involved in car audio for over 10 years and seen some pretty crazy stuff. Bass boost on the deck maxed, 100 amp fuse in a deck, 20 speakers powered on a deck etc etc. I thought it would be fun if everyone would just pick one of the dumbest and craziest car audio related setup and post it here for laughs...Thanks guys...

    1. Where is a hole in the firewall? Doesn't have to be that large, just need one for one run of 10 gauge. 2. Disconnect battery ... airbag deployment, loss of security, etc ... any of that BS? 3. Install head unit - is it as easy as those couple screws in the bottom panel and then take the top one off? 4. Running wire - where? Under door sills? Can figure it out when I know where that goddamn firewall hole is. Any help appreciated. Needed before tomorrow morning I'm still searching myself.

im still learning a bit here with the audio but im curious as to how to match the ohms so im gonna use an example then ask the question. lets say i have these subs.... Two 10" 1200watt subs at 4 ohms and Two 12" 1300watt subs at 4 ohms Now does that mean i need 1 amp with 4 ohms with a splitter that goes into the subs? or would i need 2 amps both with 4 ohms each? or is there something else i can do?? and the amps need to put out enough watts to match the subs right? thanks in advance for any help.

i just ordered a LED lighting kit for my interior, http://www.ledunderbody.com/7-Color-4pc-Expandable-LEDGlow-LED-Interior-Lights-Lighting-Kit.aspx It comes with a microphone that makes the lights pulse to the bass, i know it does not work good because a friend of mine has the same kit. So my question is, is there anyway you can hook this directly up to my HU or amp so it will work perfectly? Thanks, in advance

  21. The new TV has 2 built in speakers. One speaker makes a weird crackle sound with any bass. It sounds as it a plastic bead is being vibrated and the plastic bead is bouncing. Like that type of a crackle noise. Main issue is that the left speaker makes the crackle noise and the right speaker sounds fine. Im assuming i should just try to exchange the TV to fix the issue, since i just bought it? I could hookup external speakers, but I would still like the TV speakers to work and not have to worry about them. Anything else i can do to check whats causing the issue or maybe i can fix it? but i dont think so, sadly :[ Thanks!

  23. So today i went to replace my girlfriends hifonics bxi 610 with my old rd 1000.1 v1 amp. Before i made the swap she said sub was playing. After i swap the amps i go to tune the amp by ear and absolulately zero output from the sub. So i grab my dmm and turn it to the ohms setting, with the car off it reads .9-1.1 but when i turn the car on it goes to -23-25. first i think maybe the sub has a bad lead or something so i go grab another perfectly working sub and get the same results. Then i was thinking its gotta be the amp then so i switch them back, same results on both subs and both amps. So now shes without beats and its all my fault of course so i wont hear the end of it…

hey all. i recently upgraded my amp to an audiopipe ap1500d and it bangs..great amp for the price and i recommend them for anyone on a budget. i am running the amp at only about 1/4 gain which is roughly 1000 rms or a little more i believe. it is powering an ssa icon 12'' and is running at 1 ohm with one run of 1/0 and upgraded battery to chassis ground (1 of the big 3). my question is everything ok here? i know my electrical is lacking (external batt. and what not) but im away at college at the moment and have to drive home any time i want to do upgrades because my resources are limited here. i just want to make sure my amp is not being stressed and i am not hurtin…

  25. Looking for more ideas for an enclosure that will work with an FI Q 12 I’m the rear cargo area. I am being told to go 1.75 to 2.25 cubic feet since I want it ported. The current enclosure is too tall and i would like a little more room back there. Pretty sure it’s close to 2.5.
