"To low of amp wattage will cook the sub" is what ive heard a few times and always thought that it was false. I have normally under powered my subs and never had a problem, not even on installs for other people and never a problem at all. Just want to hear what other people have to say?

I have my amp mounted to the back of my box. It's mounted so that the bottom of my amp is screwed to the back of the box. Is this bad? I was told by a guy yesterday that it can cause internal issues with the amp. Any input?

HU - kenwood kdc-hd942u Comps - phoenix gold rsds Amp - mb quart dsc 280 Pic of the amp My friend just got this stuff installed @ a shop and isn't satisfied. He told me it sounds alot cleaner but it's not louder than his stock paper cone speakers were. I told him that more than likely the shop didn't set the gain and i was gonna run through it setting it by ear. We set the high pass on the hu to 80 hz Turned the eq to natural which is flat i believe amp xover was set to full range amp bass eq was set to 0db I told him to pop a retail cd in and turn it up till he heard distortion or a change in the tone..he found that @ 25 out of 35 which i figured was way too low for th…

Hello everyone, Its been several years since I was in the car audio scene. I am interested in getting my sub up an running again in a cost effective way. Last I was involved, team PSI was doing a lot of customizing subs, many many people were running Sundowns, and Audioque, DD, and FI. I had an 18" Treo Engineering SSX which was rebuilt be PSI as a dual flatwound alum VC. I was running an Autotek MM3000.1 at .5 ohms tuned to 33Hz. Daily I was doing about 148+ db. I saved this sub for the last 5-6 years because I loved it so much and swore to myself I would use it again some day. Team DOA was killin it in the Chicagoland competitions, especiall…

A few weeks ago I started a build log which I had planned on updating as I went along with the equipment I was installing. I quickly realized I had a baseline I was traveling, but quite often got off course. I'm in need of some recommendations or for someone to get me started/finished on this process. Below is what I've purchased already or have had gathered over the past months. Subwoofers: Two 12" Fi Qs Subwoofer Amp: Orion 2500D Mids: "AA" Carbon Mids Tweeters: Mids/ Tweeter Amp: Orion 8004 I had planned on running the carbon mids and a set of Seas tweeter from Madisound actively, but thats as far as this idea has went. I knew I either needed a headunit that coul…

ive given up trying to fit my 18btl into my 86 monte. i would either have to fire into the trunk(eww) or lose all of my trunk. so im thinking about switching to 2 ssd 15's which will let me keep about 8 cubes of trunk space. the ssd's should be better for sq but still get down and play hard. i was going to feed the fair a clean 2000 watts at 1 ohm. should i get them loaded or just leave them stock. if i get them loaded can they take more power. (daily)

I plan on running two 12" IXL's off a SAZ-2000D @ 1 ohm. Electrical will consist off: - two runs of positive 1/0 (one from alt, one from batt) - three runs of ground to chassis in 1/0 (in the trunk) - yellow top in the front - NSB 75 in the trunk - stock alt Will the subs take the power daily? Goal is to make a 39.9 bassrace machine.

As the subject says I have blown one of my JBL mids. Does anyone know if I could by just the mids or possibly send the one I blew back to JBL for a repair. I have never delt with JBL so I don't know if they ever offer something like that. I am very pleased with the mids and don't feel like replacing the complete component system.

Just wondering if you guys knew from experience of how you guys find out these things. Its the 7 speaker JBL premium system. Subwoofer mounted in rear deck IB, mids in doors, and two tweeters up front. Just looking where to find info on replacing these or anything like that. I've heard that the subwoofer craps out pretty easily and so I've just been looking for a way to replace it if need be with an aftermarket!

Alright, today i went out to my Jeep Cherokee to upgrade my big3. The battery ground was simple, then i was about to do the battery to alt. Problem, there are 2 wires going out of the alt. and both go into the same loom(i think thats what they are called). Then I just start to look for the chasis ground point and i can not find it at all. So I am stuck, I am about to just say screw it. I know there are 1 or 2 guys on here who have a Jeep Cherokee, if they could help me out here, or if anyone has done work on Jeep Cherokee's to help me out. Thanks.

Jim Thiel of THIEL Audio was one of the pioneers of American hi-fi, and one of its biggest names, ranking up there with Henry Kloss and Paul Klipsch. Jim co-founded THIEL in Lexington, KY in 1976, and was instrumental in the development of time and phase accurate designs with the use of sloped baffles, coaxial driver mounting, and phase coherent crossover networks. The JL 8W1V2's are 4-ohm, and rated at 150w according to JL's site. The 125.2 is rated at ... 125 x 2 RMS @ 4 ohm. I think a 125.2 would be sufficient for a pair, but wanted to ask before buying incase someone knows of a reason why this is not a good idea. Thanks!
