Ok, Which 15"s would you recommend for SPL in a Blowthrough? First of all, the box options, there is a "3 Chamber, Single Reflex Bandpass" http://www.the12volt.com/12voltimages/bpass3cham.gif but i saw somewhere that when they are firing at each other, there will be much noise cancellation... So what would be the other ways for a blowthrough? But second, what sub would you recommend? For a budget under $300 per sub which is the best spl sub out there that will work good in ^^ whichever box...? It will be as a daily driver, but just high spl levels. Would sundown be best for power? For keeping a slightly low price?

  6. I am thinking of going with 2 sets of components for my front stage and doing away with the rears.(maybe) I have a Alpine PDX 4.150 that does 150 x 4 rms to each channel. Right now I have the fronts on the front channel rca and the rears on the rear channel RCA's. So I do not mess with imaging too bad do I just run RCA Y spitters just on the front channel from the head unit so I can use all 4 channels of this amp? I need something to keep up with two 18's and I think my current front stage would but since my rears will blocked by the huge box I might as well double up front and use all 600 of this amp

I recently read Galamonkeys avalanche build and the specs of the box were something like 4cuft sealed chamber for two 18" btls, with a high tuned ported chamber. He commented saying the lows were quite good. now, separetly a 4cuft sealed box for two 18" btls would sound bad, and a high tuned box would not hit any lows. How does that add together and work well? Off the top of my head, it seems like a large sealed chamber with a low tuned ported chamber would be the smart choice. I've never been able to experiment with bandpass boxes, so cut me a little slack.

Saw a similar post on ****, but it seems like everyone has an opinion without any real experience to back it up. Why do people in car audio hand out info so freely when they have no clue on the subject? I've been building boxes for over 10 years now and I feel like I've just scratched the surface of enclosure design. But if you post a question on boxes on just about any forum you'll get a flood of advice from kids that have never even built a box. Pretty frustrating. Is there any forums for just box builders? If not, there should be. Kirby get on it. Anyways, sorry for the rant. On to the question In your experience with 4th orders, what ratio sealed/ported do you think w…

I have a 2003 Saab 9-3 with the factory 7 speaker system. Right now everything factory the can does not do Dolby Digital 5.1 even though it does have a single center speaker located on the dash board. I am wondering if this set up will work or will i need a Sound Processor still. I am looking at a Dual XDVD8265 here is the product manual. http://www.dualav.com/support/manuals/xdvd8265.pdf And i am looking at this Amp to power the 5 channels. http://images.techronics.com/pictures.cfm?sku=ALP-MRAF350 I am unsure of how to connect that 5 channel amp to the head unit as there are not 5 RCA outs on the amp. I have a 2011 Mazda 3 and I think my speakers are 5x7's, but from all the reviews i've read, most people say that round speakers are better than ovals, so would a 5" be better than a 5x7? I would like to put 6.5" in my car but I don't know if they would fit or not.

OK so I am new to the SSA forum. I have made my noob intro on the noob intro page already and now I am making my 1st official post. So, I have a new 2010 VW CC R-Line. It has the Premium 8 non-Dynaudio system. The system is mediocre at best. I really like the head unit however. I like the functions and the way it looks. So I want to keep that! The speakers have to go. There are two comp sets. I believe the front set is something like a 7" woofer and a 1" tweet. Rear is 6.5" woofer and 1" tweet. So basically any 6.5" comps will work. Mounting depth is good so anything 3" or less will work. I am getting this 5 channel Kenwood amp . Why? Because I like it's small footprint (…

Hey there, First time here. Looks like quite an interesting site -- I got a lot of reading to do I have a 1968 Camaro that I have a custom system in. I have 2 JL 12" subs in the trunk right now, that are just in a standard sealed box. I am wondering what the best setup would be for my subs. Do I want to keep a sealed box? Do I want a ported box? Do I want them facing away from the passengers or towards them? I have them facing away currently -- as that is what I was always told to do, but then again I see some people mounting their subs inward. Any advice would be great, thanks. Jeff
