So i've got an Fi SSD15 in a 3 cube box @ 37hz. sounds really awesome and clean on the lows, up to about 55hz. there seems to be a massive hole in the bass response between 60-70hz. I have the LPF at around 110hz because despite what i hear most people cross their subs at, mine just gets louder and louder and plays clean up to that spot. there's no apparent cancellation when i open the trunk, the woofer seems to play all the way from 30-100hz effortlessly and with a fairly transient response. the thing is that its in a sub UP port back configuration, and there only about 3-4 inches of clearance between the subwoofer cone and the roof of the trunk. I had tried moving t…

Hey... I might have found an 8W7 that could fit in my budget...however, I've got a question. Do JL's recommended enclosures work well at home? I've heard they're optimized for in-vehicle cabin gain. If so, does anyone have recommendations for enclosures (sealed or bass reflex) for this little beast? Thanks in advance.

So looking into amps to power my speakers and tweeters but Im wondering if the high/low pass filters vs the frequency response of the amp actually affects the speakers and tweeters. Since the High pass is only 50-200Hz does this affect anything. Example Im looking into the 2010 Kicker zx350.4 Variable high-pass filter (50-200 Hz, 12 dB/octave) Variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz, 12 dB/octave) Frequency response: 20-20000 Hz Speakers: MB Quart DKG 168 (DKG168 Tweeter: MB Quart PTK 40 (PTK40

Well, Tang Band has a new fan. Today I installed a Pioneer 7700 cd player, a planet audio vx2002 on a set of fusion powerplant 6.5 comp set, and a jbl bp600 on 2 tang band 740 8" subs in a 1.3 ft3 box tuned at 33. I'm pretty damn impressed for two 8"s that I got new for $80 a pair. Heavy little subs, built well, 12mm x-max. I have 2 more on the way But as it sits it makes for a VERY clean sounding system, I wasn't expecting the amount of low end output, It's not 150 dbs but defintily enough for a nice daily beater, didn't expect the low end authority. So all in all I'm happy. So anybody looking for a nice smaller substage 4 of the TB 8's on 600-800 rms would defin…

i was at work last month and what did I find in a junk drawer? A brand new digital converter box. I asked my boss what was the story with it. He told me that he and a coworker had bought it cheap in 2009 to use with a tv in the pharmacy and that I could have it. Win. I'm putting the box in my center console and buy an antenna to mount either on the back deck or near the front glass by the front defroster. anybody used one of theses in a car or RV while moving? I hear reception is crystal when parked and choppy like satellite during a storm while in motion, Thoughts?

a few days ago it was about -28F outside and i had my radio maxed out from when i arrived at work. when i left i started my truck and forgetting i had the volume up i didnt turn it down before it started to play. i got about 1/4 of a note out of my sub and it stopped playing, tonight i pulled my sub out of its box to find one of the tinsel leads broken in half. i soldered it back together and the sub works now but my amp does not. my KX2500.1 powers on but there is no AC voltage out of its terminals. i assume the sub caused some degree of arcing on the amp. how common is it for subs to blow apart due to cold weather? now obviously my case is max power at very cold temps…

I've been trying to figure this out and figured I would put it out there for the gurus. Is there any real difference between speaker level and line level signals other than the voltage and the ability to drive a speaker level load (2-4 ohms vs 100ish or whatever for an amp). I guess what I'm really asking is this: Say we have a headunit that puts out 25 watts at 4 ohms. which by my calculation would be 10 volts. Now lets take that and plug it into an amp that can handle 10 volts (or split into two amps for 5 each). Is this fine to do or would it not work well?

Hey guys im new to the forum and just have a few questions i need help getting answered. I have 2 fi ssd 10s 2ohm dvc and i have about 220 dollars to spend on an amp. Im pretty much looking for a used amp. What amps could i find that will put out around 1200 to 1600 watts used for around 200 to 220? But if im mostly looking for a 1600 watt amp for around that price Also what are the best places to buy a cheap wiring kit that will handle that power? And one last question, sorry for all the questions im asking. I have a hifonics aphrodite that i got from a neighbor a long time ago and its a 6 channel 300 watt amp with crossover. I've been using a sub & box combo that I picked up at a local car audio store a few years ago to get me by and have recently begun thinking about upgrading. So I've been reading up and just trying to educate myself on the matter and tonight I went out to try and calculate the box volume and tune of the ports. Just wondered if I figured this out right. I used a calculator here (the vent length calculator at the bottom). I had the vent length so I swapped frequencies in and out until I got one to match. Here's what I know. The box contains 2 10s. It's 30.5" wide, 13" tall, 9.5" deep at the top and 12" deep at the bottom (so I used an average depth of 10.75"). Whe…

  15. Heres my status. I just sold the kove armageddon and the planet audio tt2250D that I had sitting around. I am in the process of selling my Planet Audio VX3002, and I will be ordering my Orion 2500D tomorrow. Once I sell the PA, I will order my 400.4. I also have some wheels on ebay so I can have some money to spend for christmas shopping. I am also about to buy a pair of EQT's for $115. Finals this week too. Fun stuff. Getting the car back hopefully friday or so. For those who don't know, I had a blowout and went off of the road messing up my axle shaft and a few body parts. The car has been in the damn shop for almost a month now. The dealership is absolutely pathetic. …

Hi, I have cheaper stuff than most of you guys wipe your butt with. Anyways, I have a 2x10" sub with Pioneer speakers that say they handle 50-120w RMS (I know I know, don't laugh) and a 2-channel Pioneer GM-3300t amp that claims the following: Output Power (4 Ohm, <=1% THD) 60 Watts x 2 Output Power (4 Ohm Bridged, <=1% THD) 150 Watts x 1 Output Power (2 Ohm, <=1% THD) 75 Watts x 2 Now, since I am buying a pair of front component speakers, I wanted to hook them up to an amp. The question is whether or not I should use my current amp for the component speakers, or keep the cheapo amp with the sub and buy a new amp for the component speakers. BTW, the subwoofer…

This is just something i have been wondering since i found out how a ported box works. I know that IB separates the front wave from the back. And I know that a port acts somewhat like another speaker above and at tuning. But what if you were to build a ported box, and seal off the port from the front wave entirely. like, the woofers face forward, and the port faces the trunk but you seal off the baffle from the trunk entirely. I googled it, but came up with nothing.

Hey guys, just recently bought a 2 channel and am now wiring or trying to wire it. i have come to the point of putting the speaker wire to the speakers. but i have come across a little issue. you see all the previous wiring is connected to the driver and passenger door by a single clip. there is no other opening in the door. and theres no room to slide my speaker wire in there. so how do i get the new wire into the door? the only way i see is to drill a couple holes. what do u guys usualy do?
