But i work at best buy and we get a pretty good discount on the speakers and stuff. So im trying 2 decide between a rf 1000bd thousand watts at 1ohm or an alpine mrp 1000 thousand watts at 2 ohms gonna get p3's or type Arghhs 12's. Just dont know much about either brand i've only owned kenwood excelon. Heard some rf stuff in my unkles tsx they where pretty loud, But i kno that the alpine subs atleast are over rated but the amps i hear get hot quick. Hopefully i dont get flamed for not having pics…

My dad's friend recently asked me to help build him a system after hearing a previous setup I had and decided he wanted something as well. His budget is around $1300-1400 and wants to incorporate an in dash dvd, no need for nav, but with touch screen, BT, and IPOD capabilities. He drives a 2009 Ford Lariat F 150 and would like to keep customization minimal and realiability high. He primarily listens to country, oldies, classic rock, blues, and jazz. He doesn't necessarily require a large amount of bass, I guess just enough to add more depth. So a daily driver car but no means will it be an SQ or SPL car, he does not have much exposure to the field so I won't need to …

I know that subwoofers unload under tuning frequencies in vented boxes and i was wondering what makes this happen. What's the physics behind it? I tried searching for the answer and everywhere it says the same thing, subs unload under the tuning frequency. I already know that, i want to know why it happens. Thanks in advance for anyone that knows.

So last weekend our teach put us in groups of 5 and give each group a topic. all the topics are related to electrical components and what not. My group was lucky enough to get FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTORS(FETS) and then we broke it up into sections for each person to do, for the part i have to do "research applications and why they are used" and then i started to think doesn't car audio amplifiers have fets in them? or rather called mosfet? so i was just wondering if anyone could start me out or lend a hand on where i should be looking for information and maybe recommend a creditable site? also i was thinking about dropping db-r an e-mail asking him but i don't know if that …

Hit my 1st 150 (150.4 to be exact) in my rookie season and gained 12 db. This is a premier car audio site and has helped exspand my knowledge base by alot. Just wanted to thank the owners and technical team here as well as fellow forum members. I am a better competetor because I am a member of SSA. -Bill

i just finished downgrading my system in preparation to sell my car and i just wanted to check and make sure i had everything setup correctly i am running an older pioneer hu, planet audio 6.5" torq speakers in the doors and rear deck, an eclipse 10" single 4-ohm subwoofer, and an american pro bass machine 800w 4-ch amplifier i am running the amp in 3-ch mode with the pa speakers running in parallel, then in series, i wanted to verify i did this correctly. i ran the left front and rear speakers with a positive from one and a negative from the other hooked together, same with the right front and rear. then i hooked the remaining positives together and the remaining negativ…

Hi, I am planning a budget build in my 2003 Mazda Protege ES. I am new to AudioQue but I am smitten. I love their straight forward, no BS approach. And I love thier prices. I am very interested in the AQ1200D to push an HDC3-15. Now my delima is building a box. I have always gone prefab in the past so I have no experience. I figure I have about 30 to 35Wx16Hx17D to work with in my trunk. I need to be able to take the box in and out as needed. I want to step my game up and get away from mainstream prefab electronics store propaganda. If you know what I mean. I just really want to do my first true quality build. AQ states thier 15's call for 4.5 with sub displacement and po…

I have a question, it might sound stupid but i've been wondering about it for a while. its about a damplified trunk versus one that isnt. Of course, when a sub makes a sound (namely bass) in a trunk that isnt so sturdy, or the subs just hit really hard, it makes a rattling. Does the sound (bass) that is emitted from the trunk rattle, actually lost bass? Like the sound is converted into that shitty noise rather than transfering into the cabin, and hearing a more pleasant bass? And if a trunk gets damplified (thats just the wording i use ), the dampening mat does a job of stopping that noise, but does it just do that? What i mean is, it'll stop the rattle, but will the bass…

I was wondering how much of an audible difference more port area would make. For instance my 12 is in a 2 cu. ft box with 2X13 port area which is 26 sq. inches of port. Would a 3x13 port make it that much louder or is more port area just desirable for chasing tenths on the tl. More port means a bigger box but is it worth it? I know higher tuning will definitely make it louder but i don't compete so i would never tune above 35 hz. Or perhaps i need a bigger sub . I'm more of a basshead than i thought.

As the topic states, I need to get my hands on some parts to start building up my pile of motors that I have sitting arround. these things are just going to go to waste otherwise.. all have 3" coils--all from big name woofers so If someone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. What I need: Baskets, Surrounds, Cones, Coils, Spiders, dustcaps, tensil leads ect... I've got a bunch of identical motors to build and some odd ball's that use the same coil (but have a different motor design) thanks in advance

I have the MB PVF 213's in kick panels, and want to install these in my door. It says to run wires through the 213's first then out to the 164's. Each has it's own cross over so why would you do this? I'm running them off a RF T600-4 4 channel amp. I thought you would just run the 213's off front channel , then run rear channel to the 164's and you would be good. Then set my cross over's on my RF 3sixty.2 to HP on front , get it were I want it at, then set the BP on rear where I want it at and it would be good to go. What am I missing? What would be good settings for the cross over points to start with? Thanks

Ok, Which 15"s would you recommend for SPL in a Blowthrough? First of all, the box options, there is a "3 Chamber, Single Reflex Bandpass" http://www.the12volt.com/12voltimages/bpass3cham.gif but i saw somewhere that when they are firing at each other, there will be much noise cancellation... So what would be the other ways for a blowthrough? But second, what sub would you recommend? For a budget under $300 per sub which is the best spl sub out there that will work good in ^^ whichever box...? It will be as a daily driver, but just high spl levels. Would sundown be best for power? For keeping a slightly low price?
