I recently ordered 2 Tantric HDD 18s. I got the carbon fiber dust caps on them, mainly for cosmetic appearance. But are there any real performence benefits over normal caps?

Ok i ve been out of car audio , and i know how much stuff changes. I want to buy some subs to run at 2 ohm's to the kicker zx750.1d . I really want to run all kicker . I also would like to keep it under 200 bucks . I do have a cadence amp that will do 1 ohm 600 rms which match the subs i have now,(alpine type rs d4s). But i think that the kicker amp with a set of kicker subs would hit harder . I have posted alot about this, so i nail it down to get some kicker subs , or keep my cadence and run it at 1 ohm to my alpines . Thanks everybody how has answerd my pass post and this one . yall helped me nail it down .

Ok, today was the first time ina long while that I have built a box away from my old shop. These are a few things I learned / remembered while building a box today. 1. Measure twice, cut once (this goes for the cuts on the woodas well as the overall size of the enclosure). I made a few bad cuts and ended up building one box too large. Grrr. If you are going to cut it wrong, be sure do it larger than what is needed. 2. A pneumatic or electric brad nailer is the way to go! I was doing it the old fashioned way with a hammer and finishing nails. There was some frustration with bent / broken nails as well as the lack of speed. 3. A jigsaw may cut wood, but it is a far cry fro…

I wrote this paper a few years back for a class i had to take in college in order to apply for my masters degree, its been published on a few different websites over the years There are four basic types of power supplies used: Unregulated Linear Regulated Linear Ferroresonant Switch Mode The differences between the four types include constant voltage output, cost efficiency, size, weight, and ripple. I willl explain each type of supply, describe the principle of operation, and the advantages and disadvantages of each. 1. Unregulated Linear Power Supply Unregulated power supplies contain four basic components: a transformer, rectifier, filter capacitor, and a …

I am wondering if any one knows any company that sponsors people running car audio and doing competitions. I am currently running a sundown x12 rev 1 1250 rms d2 in a custom built box tuned to 32.5 Hz. Powering the sundown is a cadence ia9-hc 2000 Watt rms amp. Thats just the bass right now. Other upgrades are there just don't want to go on and on unless someone is interested.

So I just bought a 05 yukon with factory head unit and bose system and I ordered a kenwood kdc-x794 to replace headunit then pulled out old h/u and its got a couple plug ins for wire harness so I googled it and found out I needed the "gmos-04" adapter that cost around 100 bucks that is supposed to keep onstar ability and factory chimes, is there anyway I can bypass the gmos adapter to install the new h/u?

On youtube there are videos of people running an insane amount of subs in their vehicles for spl applications. Like 15 15's or 6 18's and other crazy numbers of subs. How do they have enough space?? An FI BL 15 for example is recommended to need 3-5 cubic feet of space plus port area. If you run 15 of them together thats 45-75 cubic feet of space plus port area... Do SUV's and vans really have that much space?? Or does the fact that there are so many cones moving so much air make them work the way they do without having the recomended amount of space?? Im just curious if anybody knows how so many subs can be run together and do what they do in the space they are put in.

I just had an idea on a sub enclosure for my 2002 reg cab s10..... what im thinking is to take out both seats and make an enclosure shaped like a bench seat (with cushion and carpet covering it) with a sub firing backwards behind where each seat was or maybe one firing backwards in the middle i havent worked out any details yet but i need opinions, because i dunno how safe this would be, say if i got into an accident or even if i could make a box sturdy enuf to support myself and other ppl Now, time for you guys to either tell me how stupid it is(cuz it might very well be lol) or gimme some help designing it!! any pros or cons would help!! Thanx Tom

Hey so I see a lot of people saying "my car peaks at 54 hertz" and I'm just wondering how exactly you find your peak frequency for your specific application. Is it something that needs to be measured using some kind of tool or can it be done by ear or some other method. Also assuming my peak frequency was 48 would you expect to find the frequencies surrounding that range playing audibly louder? If they do play louder how do you combat such a hump as to improve your SQ? My peak frequency is not something I absolutely need to know but it'd be cool to find out right and it might help in making some changes to my system.

Hi, I have cheaper stuff than most of you guys wipe your butt with. Anyways, I have a 2x10" sub with Pioneer speakers that say they handle 50-120w RMS (I know I know, don't laugh) and a 2-channel Pioneer GM-3300t amp that claims the following: Output Power (4 Ohm, <=1% THD) 60 Watts x 2 Output Power (4 Ohm Bridged, <=1% THD) 150 Watts x 1 Output Power (2 Ohm, <=1% THD) 75 Watts x 2 Now, since I am buying a pair of front component speakers, I wanted to hook them up to an amp. The question is whether or not I should use my current amp for the component speakers, or keep the cheapo amp with the sub and buy a new amp for the component speakers. BTW, the subwoofer…

If god permits, next year i'll be in pharmacy school living with and leeching off my aunt/uncle. I hope to put a HT setup in and will use the subs i already have (for a start). My question is which should i use. I have the two 15" atlases and the 1 15" avalanche. I'm not sure how much different HT is from car audio, so i'll put my speculations and you all can feel free to correct me. two atlases will have more than enough output i'm sure. But won't get as low as the Avalanche. The avalanche will get low, but not as much output. Also I imagine an amp for the atlases would be easier to come by. (300W @ 4ohm vs 800W @ 4ohm) So my question is for HT is lows needed mo…
