So after listening to M5 and a couple other people on this forum who made great points to remove my 6.5" speakers from my rear deck I am glad you guys opened me up to a whole different world of sound in my car. Those 2-6.5" opening allow for so much bass to come through into the cabin of my car from the trunk its ridiculous, more ouput and better sound from my subs was gained. I used to be one of those guys who wanted millions of speakers in the interior of the car no matter where I could put them. I learned that the right placement, power, control(EQ'ing) would make up for more sound than a billion speakers in the ca (one friend used to tell me before I joined this site …

so, was at the junk yard today getting some parts for the Saturn (need a new trunk latch) today, when I spotted this odd looking by-nine on the rear deck of a caprice (old 80s box chevy) right? so after I got my part and my bolts needed, I walked over to the caprice and took a peak in the trunk, found about 15 feet of 8AWG wire (perfect length for the application I need it for, no, im not using it as power wire) in the trunk, and then I looked at this yellow by-nine that I saw, the magnet was BIG, had to be atleast an 80oz magnet, mags as big as a CD in diameter, couldnt find the second one, so i grabbed it and continued to look for other parts. later on today when I got …

Ok so I have a "brilliant" idea. I just picked up a Kicker KX3 crossover for cheap with no idea what to do with it really. Well I got to thinking. It has two inputs (front/rear) and three outputs (front/rear/sub). Now then, I have a 2005 Ranger ext. cab I just got for my DD. I am in the process of collecting parts for some form of audio install in it. I was thinking I could ditch the 6x8's in the doors for some 4"'s or 5 1/4"'s mount some tweets on the sail panels, and some 6 1/2"'s in the kicks. Could I use this crossover to do an "active" set up? I have some MLI65's laying around I could use for the kicks. What would be some good compliments to these. And then theres th…

Alright, I plan on running 1100w-1200w RMS to an 18" woofer so I am torn between all 0 Ga wiring or using a 4 Ga amplifier wiring kit. The 4 Ga kit I'm looking at it rated for 1400w but I think 0 Ga would be better. Also, the amplifier I plan on using only has 4 Ga terminals for power and ground - would it be safe to trim down the 0 Ga and put them in 4 Ga terminals if I were to use 0 Ga? Amp is: JBL GTO 1201.1II - 1114w RMS at 2 ohms Woofer is: IA DR 18" D1 Thanks in advance! -John

Ok, call me retarted. Good news : The jl w7 8's sound amazing, can't wait for the sundown amp to really give them what they need. It's all installed and the sealed box sounds greaT! Bad News : I had to run RCA cables outside the car to test my setup. I can't figure out how to take off the dash to wire my rca's. The remote wire was already in the car which made it easy to do. The car - 1992 Bmw 318i Sedan 4 door. Any ideas? I searched and took off all visible screws but no budge, am I missing something?

ok so i am looking to get either 2 15" BLs or 2 15" Qs. i am powering them with a Rockford Fosgate 20001bd amp, which i was told throws out about 2800 watts of power when i called Rockford. i am also building a custom box outta 3/4" MDF that i'm not completely sure about dimensions for yet. now i am leaning towards the BL because even though both the BL and the Q have the same power handling, the BL i am told can take more punch, which would compensate for the 800 extra watts from the RF amp. but everyone says that the Q is all about sound quality. is the BL going to have good SQ along with it's SPL? if i can hear that the BL will have good sound quality or better, than i…

so i went to hook up my set-up. got everything hooked up, but there is extremely little output from the sub. i can barely hear the bass, but if i set my hand on the sub i can feel it moving just barely. when i went to hook it up the 1st time, i forgot to unhook the battery. when i put in the power wire it sparked and the protection light flashed. then i disconnected the positive battery terminal, hooked up the ground, remote, speaker, RCA's, gains knob, power wire, then positive on battery. hooked everything up in that order. turned the HU on to 10. could barely hear the bass. and like said above when i put my hand on the sub i could feel it moving slightly. played with …

Ok starting yesterday my car began to smoke and smell like burning so I popped the hood to find nothing. I noticed that it was coming from the wheel well and ended out figuring out it was a part of some wiring that was melting very badly. It has now made it so my parking break remains on and driving again tonight it began to smell and my ABS light on my car began to flash. Any advice on what it is or what I should do.

I am going to get a 15" fi btl in my civic, being powered by 2500 watts, and i want to know ways to not let any sound come out of the car. Meaning, even with windows down, i dont want to be heard cuz i dont want to get shit jacked/annoy people. Is there a way to do this, or is it just going to be loud anyways, and i would just need to turn it down at times?

Well i went to my first show today since my truck was vandalized and robbed. It was a local car club show and although it rained the show turned out great. I entered in the mini truck and the DB classes. I didn't win for mini truck but i did take 3rd in the DB drag. There were roughly 10 cars that actually had something decent that were allowed to compete. I think i did pretty good being that 1st and 2nd went to sponsored vehicle's. They were using Memphis audio amps and 1 mojo i think 15 each. There setups were identical. on being in a 02ish cavalier and the other in a 06 Grand prix. The cavalier had a wall in the backseat and the Prix just had a nice box in the truck. …

Ok well here's the scenario: I am running a 15" BTL off of a JL Audio 250/1 (not the v2 one). On the amp along with the power light and protection mode light it has a light that is labeled "low Ohm" with the little ohm symbol. This amp's lowest rating is 1.5 ohm. My woofer is wired down to 1 ohm. But i figured it wasn't a big problem. OK so here's the problem - just now I noticed that on a certain note of a song (Lil Jon-Throw It Up) the light labeled low ohm blinks. Then i noticed sort of a popping sound coming from the box. So i went around to the back and popped the trunk. Then i could really hear the popping sound. I believe the sound it coming from the sub itself an…
