Hi all. I had a friend of mine ask me to do a system for her. She wants to use my 2 Sundown Audio SD1-v.2 subwoofers and my Sundown Audio 100.2 to power them. Her car is a 2009 Ford Fusion, which leads me to my issue. It has Microsoft Sync, and she would like to retain the stock head unit if possible. I know the only way to do this it to use a LOC, but I've never used one, as I always upgrade the HU. I have read that if you use one the factory system will turn down the bass automatically to protect the other speakers, thus making the subwoofers not serve their full purpose. Is this true? Would it be a waste to use a LOC? Am I best off convincing her to spend money…

Hey everyone, me and a few others on Ecoustics are getting a little get together worked out right now. We have a place in York PA (eastern PA right above the MD/PA border) that we can do it at right now. But we might change the location to a place like Wilmington DE. The date we should be having it will be March 15th. Nothing is official to say just yet but we should have everything locked in place hopefully by mid to late this week. We have a guy coming out who is bringing his AC mic although he said something about bringing a TL but I'm not sure if he has one or not. He said he is going to charge a little fee to get metered. We aren't looking to have this thing be a com…

I am wanting to put 4 5x5 mid-bass driver under the back seats of my SUV. The question is, will a mounting board be sufficient or should I build an enclosure that'll fit nicely under the back seat?

Is it possible to tune an amp so that an 8inch sub will act as a midbass driver? I have a kicker cvr 8 and a fosgate prime 250 and I was wondering if I could put the equipment to use and delay my purchase of midbass drivers until I have sufficient funds.

im currently running one set of alpine type r 6.5 components on a diamond d1 250.2 with a high pass filter on. now for a 300+ dollar set of speakers when i bought them i dont think they have any midbass at all, a few shops ive been to said that they are playing jsut fine but i guess that means i need to upgrade. im planning on scrapping my 4 diamond 10s in a sealed box and going with 2 fi bl 12s ported and tuned to 32hz, but i fear that ill have a big gap where my mids dont perform. what do yall suggest in the 300-400 price range i was looking at these ZRS-710KIT - ZRS SERIES - Cadence Acoustics, LTD because i heard a set of coaxial 6.5s in the same truck i have and they …

I am looking to try some new mid-bass drivers for the doors, so I never mind trying new equipment. Just as far as midranges I have never found anything to touch my L4's

Currently in my car I have a pair of Alpine SPR-13Ss (http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/spr-13s/), and I also have an 18" SSD @ 32hz in a 9cuft box. The SSD is extremely loud, and depending on the song, tends to drown out my fronts. So I was looking at trying to run some pro audio so I can get a clear and loud front stage that can be heard over my sub. I was reading some threads, and saw these tweets: Selenium ST350 Super Tweeter I'm sure they will more than outperform my current tweeters. I was also looking at this midbass: Selenium 10PW3-SLF 10" Driver The only problem with 10" midbass is making custom pods for my doors. I have never done anything like that, and w…

I should have no problems with BASS. But I`m worried about Mid Bass - punchyness. I do not want to use huge door builds & they will never sound right anyway. So I plan to use 4x 10" or 8" subs. To help the system sound better / seem more punchy - quick I`ll be feeding them about 250wrms each. So should I do this or what`s the best way to do it? BTW: I`m aiming for the system to play music @ 150dB+ 16 Cu.Ft. Box. Ported using 4x S.I. 15" Magnums. Thanks guys.

Scored these monsters for $200. They need some work because they were banged up in a move, but after some new cloth skirts, wood work, and paint these bad boys will be rockin. I'm sure they'll also need a wire rebuild kit from Magnepan, but from what I have read that is only about $50. It's going to take a while to get used to a pair of 60" tall speakers in the living room. The "IMP" on the rear plates designate these as an "Improved" version of the MG-1's. I hear if you use subwoofers in a dipole setup with magneplanars it is next to Godliness, so I'm doing the research on different dipole setups right now and trying to decide which one to use. I'm thinking black wood f…

I have been looking at 5.1 options. Some questions I have: 1) I would like to be able to control the processor through the HU. I read that the Alpine W205 can control the H701 although it doesn't say that on the website. I had intended to get an AVIC-D3 but that doesn't seem to have any control over the pioneer processor. What are the best options here? 2) Looking around I notice that the 5 channels are always equal power. Is this the correct way to set up a 5.1 system or is it ok to vary the power to different speakers? 3) Assuming that all speakers SHOULD have equal power, where on earth do you find quality component/coaxial speakers that will preform well on 50w? 4) Is…

I just put a new CM MOJO "catridge" on a motor and im getting some coil rub. I did a second one and it turned out great but i remounted the catridge a few times on the first one and it keeps rubbing on the same side inside the coil. I think its slanted not off center. I mounted some old cartridges i had on the same motor and didnt get any rub so im pretty sure its the new cartridge. Any advice on a fix?

  19. in my last decision problems thread i narrowed down which subs i wanted to get. ultimately, everyone steered me in the DSS direction so i ended with 2 12" DSS Ethos subs in a ported enclosure. now since i dont have many of the tools needed to make a proper sub enclosure atm, i will be buying one. i have 2 specific ones i found on ebay that i think might do the trick. they are: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DUAL-12-Inch-CUSTOM-PORTED-CAR-AUDIO-SUB-WOOFER-ENCLOSURE-4-CU-FT-TUNED-32Hz-/400326247663?pt=US_Speaker_Sub_Enclosures&hash=item5d354dc4ef OR http://www.ebay.com/itm/DUAL-12-Inch-CUSTOM-PORTED-CAR-AUDIO-SUB-WOOFER-ENCLOSURE-5-CU-FT-TUNED-34Hz-/400326264513?pt=US_Sp…

I was wondering how much of an audible difference more port area would make. For instance my 12 is in a 2 cu. ft box with 2X13 port area which is 26 sq. inches of port. Would a 3x13 port make it that much louder or is more port area just desirable for chasing tenths on the tl. More port means a bigger box but is it worth it? I know higher tuning will definitely make it louder but i don't compete so i would never tune above 35 hz. Or perhaps i need a bigger sub . I'm more of a basshead than i thought.

ok.....Im lost completely on this one......I rewired my whole system, all the speakers to the 4 channel, rewired the rcas, the remote, regrounded everything, the whole nine yards.....The alternator whine was almost none existant till i tuned the amps. Started with a louder alternator whine, then i heard my speakers popping as i changed tracks, so i figured id try to reground my head unit. After i get that ready to reground i turn the car on, i could be about an inch from metal and everything popped, with no spark. As soon as i touch metal, everything pops again. This is where i become lost. I take the ground off, and i hear a rumbling, i open the trunk and my subs ar…
