I have a 1989 Buick park avenue in dire need of a system. the factory concert sound II is awesome for a stock system, but its still stock. i Am looking for a pure SQ set up. i have no interest in being very loud, just want to hear my music at its best from its highest to its lowest. i have 6 3/4' components in the front and 6x9s in the rear. the CONCRETE- - i am using a audio control DQL 8 to give my amps signal. factory radio is staying. -Box must be smaller than 18x18x17. the smaller the better. -Front and rear stages are going to stay. no adds, no removals. -box will be SEALED to the pass compartment. what i want- - high quality, unaltered mindbogglingly awesome soun…

Hey guys, I have a Rockford Fosgate R500X1D and a Kicker 300 4 Channel amplifiers that i am wanting to get tuned correctly because my first time around i blew 2 of 4 door speakers and subwoofer the first 3 days of use and now with my second try i have them tuned not to max but to a point where i know they are not clipping. My question is where can i get a good quality oscilloscope or some distortion detector for $100 or less so i can have these running at their max. I would like to buy the smddd1 but im already 900 deep in this system and cant put any more into it so im trying to find cheaper options. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Alright, I plan on running 1100w-1200w RMS to an 18" woofer so I am torn between all 0 Ga wiring or using a 4 Ga amplifier wiring kit. The 4 Ga kit I'm looking at it rated for 1400w but I think 0 Ga would be better. Also, the amplifier I plan on using only has 4 Ga terminals for power and ground - would it be safe to trim down the 0 Ga and put them in 4 Ga terminals if I were to use 0 Ga? Amp is: JBL GTO 1201.1II - 1114w RMS at 2 ohms Woofer is: IA DR 18" D1 Thanks in advance! -John

I want to ground 0gauge to frame on my quad cab ram.. I dont want to ground to underseat bolts or any area from the inside of cab. The shortest length from mount to frame rail is 1.5 ft to inside cab. My idea was to have a bolt weldeld to frame closest to my wire entry to cab. Is 3or 4ft ok for a ground wire at zero gauge..

I was gonna post this in the off topic section, but it's slightly audio related, and i just wanted to ask because it seems ridiculous. The RF 40001bd amp is supposed to be 4k rms at 1ohm, pretty sexy, whatever. If i recall it has ONE set of 1/0ga power and ground terminals. With a fuse rating of 500amps, and knowing that 1/0ga wire has a capacity of ~300amps doesn't that mean they failed? Off the top of my head, the Sundown 4500D has dual power and ground, and for what seems like a good reason. The only solution to this problem i see is to have your amp ridiculously close to your rear battery bank. Just me rambling on, thanks for comments.

Well as much as it pains me to have done it the x-cons have been sold to stefanhinote. I was in the search of more SPL and i made a final decision on two 15" BTL N2s. Let me tell everyone now by no means are the x-cons quiet i recently got a 148.2 on music sealed. Thats in a box tuned to 30hz and not the optimal port area for spl. Mind you while doing this they sound simply amazing. Ill never stop supporting SSA and i can tell you guys now my next car will be another set of x-cons for everyday ground pounding. For now though i wanna compete and its time to move to something louder.

I keep hearing about knockoff products on Ebay. How does one go about finding whether or not it is the real deal? Even a store selling fakes can have good feedback because some just want the cheapest. I'm looking for amps and sub-woofers.

Ok, so as the description describes... I've never built a car system before, and I don't know whats good and whats not. I do have some experience with home audio, so I'm not completely clueless when it comes to the technical. I ask your assistance in helping me choose audio components that sound pretty good, and are mid-range in price. System will probably be built into a 2nd Gen Scion xB. I'm quite the SPL lover, I get a crazy grin when the mirrors start vibrating. SQ isn't so much important to me, but I want to be able to hear the words, just a little at least. The xB has a 8 1/32" deep, double din factory headunit. The front and rear speakers are both 6 1/2". Giv…

I was thinking of tuning a 15" BL at 32-36 hz when I told my buddy he said I have it completely wrong. He told me that the tuning is way too low, and that hes going to be tuning his new box to around 50 hz. He told me simply because music is higher than the 32-36 range, and that I should be tuning in the 40's. Could someone explain this to me, thanks.

  13. Recently bought my Mechman 240a alternator for my truck. I'm curious as to what you guys do as I'm getting some pretty bad advice from a forum I visit often. It's about 50/50 some people say to fuse while others say don't. Some even call me lazy for thinking of not fusing. It's hard to figure it out when everyone has a different opinion. Mechman told me NOT to fuse it as it could introduce voltage drop across the fusing and it's not needed. Some others tell me my vehicle will burn to the ground. I have all the fuses and holders from KnuKonceptz but if it'll be fine without a fuse I have no issues not using one, makes it easier. So, what's the verdict on here? What d…

So just got out of my car. Recently just installed my powermaster battery and finally had my sub turned back on. As i was driving my front left tweeter started to just sing static. The words from the song sounded like a DJ was trying to scratch it for real. I have a pioneer 9800 headunit and was thinking maybe my preouts went bc i heard that was a problem. I havent checked the main connections like amp output or even the headunits preouts yet. I will tmw in the morning. Just curious what people think. Thanks

Hey everyone. I was hoping I could get some input. I am selling my current sub and enclosure on Craigslist locally, not on here. But im not sure if I am asking the right price. I'm selling my Sundown e-12 d4 and the custom designed/built enclosure. I'm asking 140. is this too much? Thanks for any opinions!

I want to set up my new, (refurbished actually but it's new to me) Sundown SAZ-1000D right, so I need some legit test tones. First question: What tones do I need? I know I'm looking for a 50Hz tone to set the gain, but is that a "50Hz sine wave" or "50Hz mono-tone"? I've seen both, so I'm confused. Square waves? Sine waves? I have a very loose grasp on these things, but I think that a square wave=clipping and a sine wave shows the maximum gain setting before clipping... I'm so confused... What other tones do I need, if any? Second question: On that pinned thread on how to set your gains under amp/head units main section, it gives two links for tones to download, a…

I'm thinking about buying an RLP 15" for my home audio needs. I've always wanted to try SS audio and just haven't gotten around to it but what better way then HT! My question is how much power does this thing need to sound good in an HT setup? I read from a different thread that anywhere from 2.0^3's to 4.0^3's tuned from 17hz to 20hz will be best so within that range of box specs, how much power will it need?

holy moses indeed...after scouring google for comments on this car audio e-tailer I too am feeling angst!!! Granted any comment of e-tailer business experiences like anything else must be taken with a grain of salt...particularily when you take into account that 1 negative experience will reach mythic proportions as opposed to a good buying experience which probably results in no or at best, few good praise posts. E.g loyalists vs. loses. WIth that said...this Woofersetc.. was accused by some buyers as either a 'front' or some business that really doesnt even exist!! So...appparently the owner is very rude and brash, he returns e-mails on a 'do-i-feel-like-it-or-not…

What would you use to kill rattles in your dash? I'm looking at the secondskin site but they have so many different products I don't know which would be best for the dash (plastic on plastic). Also the roof of my jeep wrangler is plastic-ish Heres a pic: Would it be worth it to put some "Luxury Liner" or any other product on it? It doesn't rattle, but might make cabin quieter from road noise? Any input? Thanks
