Sorry so long. Thought this would be a good share. Email received from XS Power: Thanks for contacting us regarding the proper way to charge sealed lead acid (AGM) type batteries like the ones we produce. Unlike conventional lead acid batteries, AGM batteries are completely sealed, meaning that all of the gas and electrolyte is safely stored inside the battery. In order to keep AGM batteries in good health, and to maximize their performance and life expectancy, it is important to properly charge and maintain them. Leaving a battery (conventional or sealed) in a low state of charge over a long period of time is bad for the battery because it allo…

Over the past 18 years I have had countless audio systems. Most of them consisted of two 12" or two 15" and 500-1500w. There is one particular system that a neighbor had that I will never forget. He had a simple system, two Orion XTR 12" with a small cheap Kenwood 500w amp. His car was a three door, possibly it was a Gulf idk. Why I remember this system is because when the bass hits and when I/he was talking it sounded like we were talking through a fan. I have never been able to duplicate this effect. No matter how many subs or watts I had. Actually, I havent even sat in too many other cars that could either. What causes your voice to sound like you are talking through…

Does the air moving around in a sealed box take any temperature change in relativity to the cooling of the coil? Since air is bouncing off the back baff does it actually cool the coil more effieciently than a ported enclosure?

So Ive been sittin on my fully loaded BTL 18" since christmas I wasn't able to afford the electrical upgrades to power this sub..Well fast forward to now. I'm now financially stable enough to afford the amp,batteries,etc... I want to go with a Rockford T30001BD. I'm thinking of running a 240 amp alt, dual optimas one upfront and one in the rear, and 2 runs of 0/1 gauge. I have a few questions on doing this correctly. Do I do 2 runs from the front batt to the rear and then then run a single one to the amp?? And do I fuse each run of 0/1 gauge as well.?? I'm kinda lost when it comes to supplying the correct amount of power to the Amp. thanks matt

Well I was originally going to do SPL comps but I haven't been to one in two years and I figure it may be time to move on.... So I figure, should I keep my 15 or sell it? I am thinking of doing a different build - from 1 15 to 4 10" woofers.. Not too sure what kind yet but probably Fi bls (or maybe qs) and strap one amp to them for now and if I want to upgrade it I have the electrical for it (3 bats in the trunk and a 350 amp) strap a bigger, or another amp on. But heres my question mainly - how will having more cone space but less power do? Will it be just as brutal if I tune low or will I be missing out a lot?

Being a dealer for DD and working close with them i decided i should post this thread. Lets keep it intellectual of course but i want you feedback on over all DD products and everything. This information will be passed directly to them in an attempt to better their perception and reputation ( not that its bad of course ). Let me know what you guys think. Good and bad, give me good well written posts with positives and negatives about their products. I look forward to hopefully using your opinions/statements to help make DD a better company. I am trying to get someone from DD to come onto the forums themselves, so im also trying to show them there would be benefit in it.

i gotta guy wanting me to a build for him in his 73' caprice convertible and i need some suggestions! he wants to go big but he doesn't like ported boxes for some odd reason. now he's seen my other builds and he expects it to be as loud as those. i might be able to convince him to go ported but it really has to slam. here's the catch, it all has to be in the trunk! but the good news is he has an open wallet. im thinkin 8-12" sa's and about 12000 watts rms. any suggestions out there?

right now i have two 12" eclipse sw7200 subs, i had a rockford p600.2 pushing them and i kno thats nowhere near the output they handle but i got them both in a deal... i sold the amp and i am wondering if i should sell the subs as well to get something different... ive been looking into the ssa icons and the fi q's... im not looking for ridiculous bass... however i want something that can get respectably loud and have excellent sq, something that can hit the lows and sound good doing it.. i was looking at these two brands because from what i hear on this forum they work well on both ends of the spectrum (so to say) they are gonna be powered by a aq1200 amp and also its go…

I current own a 15” Fi Q and am in the process of upgrading to a 15” IA Death Penalty. Need some info (help) on how to deaden my truck, what should I used, what areas to deaden and the cost of materials. I drive a 2000 Dodge Dakota so for the most part, am just thinking that I may only need to deaden the back panel (the rear is gutted), sides, doors and possible the roof (if it’s absolutely necessary). I saw a guy on here with 2 18s in a dakota but didn’t find him while searching, hoping he can chime in. Any input would be great. Thanks

I have a ton of questions coming, I need them answered so I can get my bass back! So today I decided I'm going to make a new box for the SSD. Current box is 3.5cuft @33hz 40sqin of port, sub is firing UP and port is firing towards the back of the car. New box, 5cuft@30hz 78sqin of port sub AND port firing towards the cabin it should be tons louder without all the trunk rattle. (I know this is a little much for the ssd but a btl is going in place of it in the next month or two.) In order for this box to fit in my car we have to build it inside the trunk, I already tore out the back seats and had to take a grinder to the metal behind the seat. The seats are going back in th…

As I posted on another section I got a new (to me) Daily Driver... Its a 2005 Chevy Trail Blazer... Cliff Notes: Before I haul off and put a few K into an audio system, I kinda want to get a really good Alarm... What Systems are the Best and Why??? What Systems are are POS and Why??? I'm trying to do alot of reading and researching on this to make sure I make a good descision.. My concerns are the Alarm being a POS and the install being a POS... The reason, my last two Alarms were DEI - Viper systems and I had several issues with them... Long Story if you wanna Read the whole Novel: The 1st (a low end unit, probably a dealer add on) came on my 1996 GMC Sonoma, Ex Cab, …

I have a set com Rainbow SLC-265 components and a 15" arsenal. Will these sound balanced in my new '96 jeep Cherokee? I'm worried the sub will be over bearing. Should I just keep the sub lower or get a smaller sub? As long as the components can keep up with the sub that is all I'm worried about. I hate it when I get in someones car and all they upgraded was the sub, and coincidentally that is all I can hear. The sub. boom boom boom thud. How musical......

Hi all. I had a friend of mine ask me to do a system for her. She wants to use my 2 Sundown Audio SD1-v.2 subwoofers and my Sundown Audio 100.2 to power them. Her car is a 2009 Ford Fusion, which leads me to my issue. It has Microsoft Sync, and she would like to retain the stock head unit if possible. I know the only way to do this it to use a LOC, but I've never used one, as I always upgrade the HU. I have read that if you use one the factory system will turn down the bass automatically to protect the other speakers, thus making the subwoofers not serve their full purpose. Is this true? Would it be a waste to use a LOC? Am I best off convincing her to spend money…

Here is the little back story.. I bought my car off my dad, who previously installed some aftermarket audio system. I decided i wanted to upgrade the components and he said that he has Infinity Reference 5.25" components in there already so I decided to go with the Bravox CS50k (5.25") component set for ease of install. Today, I go to install the Bravox's and notice that the Infinity's are indeed 6.5". So now iv payed $150 dollars for a downgrade in size.. Great.

But i ordered a volt meter to watch and make sure my voltage dosnt go to low... but i am thinking a 5 cuft box with pvc ports... tuned to like 35hz... or lower... not sure yet. Possibly square interchangable ports.. its going in a tundra access cab.. any ideas? I have a sheet of like 3/8" plastic for a window in the box. Possible leds in the box... not sure yet but def a window. So any crazy ideas to make this build original? Im 18 but pretty skilled with a saw and router.. let me know.

Ok, I managed to work in an extra $500 into my stereo budget (mostly working OT) and I'm not sure what I should do with it to get the most out of my system. I know I need to do the big 3 and sound dampining material probley needs to be done(my loud exhaust sometimes tries to drown out the music), but what else? Heres my system so far. Heat unit-Pioneer DEH 7200HD front stage-2 Diamond Audio D1 components and the original factory tweeters or still there too. front amp-nuthin rear stage-2 factory GMC speakers, I usually keep them off. sub stage-2 Diamond Audio D1 10s, I have a 12" DCON on order, hopefully it will be here next week. sub amp-Diamond Audio 400.1 with 8ga wire,…
