My dad was looking to buy me a sound system for my birthday, i am looking around, he immideatily eliminated the idea of a subwoofer, so now i have a head unit and new speakers, and an amp (if necessary). I drive a 2004 jeep grand cherokee. I was going to buy with him today, Alpine CDA9886, 1 Alpine SPX-13 REF component set, 1 Alpine SPX-17 REF component set, and to power those speakers i was going to use a autotek SM4-800. I was wondering if this set up would be good, and if the amp would be adequate power for the speakers, i think it goes 100x4 @ 4 ohms.

actual technical question follows ---> Basically as the title says...I've decided on an 5.25" or 6.5" MTM design that works for my app, but I've got a choice of ribbon or regular tweets. The ribbon kit is double the price of the normal one at $550...I've never owned a speaker using ribbon tweets, so I don't know if they'd be worth the price increase. FYI, the speakers I'm looking at can be found at http://www.parkeraudio.net. 95dB/W or 98dB/W at a stable 2 ohm load. Thanks. :musik05:

Just wondering if you guys knew from experience of how you guys find out these things. Its the 7 speaker JBL premium system. Subwoofer mounted in rear deck IB, mids in doors, and two tweeters up front. Just looking where to find info on replacing these or anything like that. I've heard that the subwoofer craps out pretty easily and so I've just been looking for a way to replace it if need be with an aftermarket!

OK, Well I have tried a few things and nothing worked. But first I will tell you my situation. I have a 92 Ford Ranger xlt and a FI BL 15 in THIS Box with a Pyle Audio 2200 amp. My problem is that When the box and sub are in the cab of my truck and the head unit is off or on it doesn't matter. I receive a very loud buzzing sound when I turn the key on. Here is a video below to explain what happened. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JuZPgoYyYk Please help me as much as you guys can.

hey nice place! i have slowly been putting money back into my car with pretty solid results. i was wondering what advice or comments you have for the next step. i took some time away from car audio and got the home system going. My home system took the cake and i just had to upgrade the car. i drive a 97 4 door grand am with no tint. alpine 9827 - upgraded the 4x6 in the front doors with polk momo 5 1/4. i upgraded my mono -mrv100 alpine amp with a 5 channel alpine-353. for $115 new. i have a pair of infinity refrence 6x9's in the back that have been used for 6 years. they need to go and i was looking at ebay for some momo's. and my sub is one of the older polk d…

I'm thinking about upgrading the "factory stereo" in the '05 E-150 next month as a gift...because what's in there now is laughable. The standard Ford AM/FM radio, not even a tape deck. This is the main delivery truck, so everything needs to be mounted under the seats/hidden. Here's what I've come up with so far... Source: Alpine CDE-9842, $130 new from Crotchfield. Maybe an extra dash kit if they don't provide one, it's a standard 1.5DIN opening. Speakers: Crystal CXE570 5x7 coaxials (http://mmxpress.com/crystal/crystal_speakers.htm) Amplifier: Damn PE for selling out of the Aura amps I'd need a decent two-channel, 50Wx2 into 4 ohms should be plenty. Something along the …

I will be running a sundown 1500 and a 2 channel (not sure which one yet) off a stock alternator and a powermaster d1200. I already have 4 gauge ran from a previous instal with 80a inline fuse. 1) Can I just leave the existing 4 gauge and use that for the 2 channel and just run an additional fused 1/0 for the Sundown or is there an easier way to go about this? 2)Is it ok to run two fused power wires off the same battery? 3) If I have to get a distribution block, which one should I get? I heard Knukonceptz' are hard to work with. I already have a kicker 1/0 kit on the way but I don't think the distribution block in the kit will fit my needs. Thanks guys

  12. does anybody have experience with the trunk space of a zx3 2002 ford focus? i guess it doesnt have to necessarily be 2002, but at least the same body style. Im recommending the BTL to my friend based on his goals and because im a Fi fan. he wants to be as loud as he can get with one btl, and hes pretty noob so immediately he assumed the 18 would be best for him. so what im asking is does anyone know if a box big enough for an 18 will fit in the focus's trunk? i dont have the dimensions, although i might later on when i talk to him. and it can take up the whole trunk except a lil room for the amp (most likely going to be an audioque 1200d.) hes probably just gonna be…

Hey fellas, not sure where to post this so here it is. I have a bus we drive for church on Wednesday's and we got a bunch of rowdy kids(saginaw area) so i installed a radio on the bus and we have a CB style mic but its not powered so as you all know the signal it sends isnt strong enough to amplify to make it audible. So my question is do any of you guys know an easy fix for this? Like a mic that is self powered or what not? Any help or direction would be great. 35 rowdy kids imma end up with no voice.

ok im probably just being dumb but i tried searching and no answer. I have 2 subs and one 4 channel amp. my question is how do i wire them? i have everything connected however im confused as to how i should wire the subs to the amp. do i put them as front or back? also i dont know if i should plug the RCA cables into the front or back. i tried messing around with different options and i get mixed results. for some reason whether the subs are wired to the front of back it doesnt matter where the RCA cables are plugged in. now heres the problem, only one of the subs seem to be working. the other one will barely work but just sounds muffled. when the one that does…

Instead of cutting a hole for a terminal cup I plan on running a 1/4 inch or so bolt through the side of my sub box. My question is, what type of bolt would be best for power/signal transfer? -Standard Steel -Stainless Steel -Brass -Aluminum -Chrome -Grade 8 Steel -Copper (not sure I can find it) There is just so many options and I don't know what to choose. I've been working with bass box pro 6 for probably the past 3 hours or so.... and i just cannot figure it out. I guess its just going to be said that i wont ever be able to know how to properly configure a box lol. For some reason i just cannot grasp the concept/doings of the box programs. So what i need from someone knowledge in the area of box making is, for someone to design a box for me. I havent taken the measurements as of yet, but when I do, i just want to know if someone will be able to help me lol. Here are my plans for the box. 2 15" RE XXX's. Ported. Once i get the measurements, hopefully we'll be able to figure out some numbers figured out on how big the box…

Probably won't happen till I'm settled into school, but since I get such good accommodation thru pioneer and kicker at work I'm thinking.... Kicker sx1250.1 kicker sx700.4 and the sxrc remote those two are for sure... now the next part is iffy... I either wanna do 4 l7 8"s(just to have something different) or I'm going to do 2 l7 12"s... then again I get really good deals on infinity's high end woofers too... as for a headunit probably a p8mp or p770mp. think i would be under powering the 8"s to much with the 1250.1?

When will it end?! Never. Good thing is, there's an even better HU in it's place right now. How you like that Bi*ches! Can't keep a man from his tunes.

After doing a little more critical listening of my 2 Havoc 15s in a 5.4 cu ft sealed box, I'm not really sold on the sound. My goals were a LOUD hard hitting system that sounds good on anything from hip hop to rock. Transient response and chest-thumping bass are vital to me, so I went with a sealed box initially for the sake of simplicity and a starting point to improve on. I'm not overly impressed with the sound quality, however. It plays extremely LOW, 20Hz has my truck falling apart and my ears pressurized, but ask it to play music or a 50Hz bass line and it falls way down leaving much to be desired. Above 50Hz leaves you wondering what happened to those huge speak…
