Ok, I managed to work in an extra $500 into my stereo budget (mostly working OT) and I'm not sure what I should do with it to get the most out of my system. I know I need to do the big 3 and sound dampining material probley needs to be done(my loud exhaust sometimes tries to drown out the music), but what else? Heres my system so far. Heat unit-Pioneer DEH 7200HD front stage-2 Diamond Audio D1 components and the original factory tweeters or still there too. front amp-nuthin rear stage-2 factory GMC speakers, I usually keep them off. sub stage-2 Diamond Audio D1 10s, I have a 12" DCON on order, hopefully it will be here next week. sub amp-Diamond Audio 400.1 with 8ga wire,…

You guys are great here and I know you know a lot. I have a friend that needs to find a high quality line out converter with a remote out for an amp. I don't want the Scosche because it's not the best out there. I was looking at the Southgate LOC but it doesn't have a remote out for the amp. Do any of you know a very good quality line out converter??? Thanks guys.

I've been out of car audio for a long time and I need some help choosing new components. I already have speakers, subs and amps so this is just for source components and processors. I'm looking for affordable but nice-sounding products. The one thing I absolutely don't want is harsh-sounding electronics. I want a H/U with CD, DVD, FM, HD radio, and digital output. The only thing that must be built into the face is CD. For the sake of economy, the H/U doesn't need a built-in screen but, if it does, I want a touch screen with nice controls. The DVD is actually a future upgrade (maybe) and will have a larger separate screen. I prefer that the H/U not have built-in amps …

I have an MB quart 4.80 running 6.5" 3 way infinity kappas in the front and infinity kappas 3 way 6x9s in the rear. Each has a 2 ohm nominal on each channel of the amp. If I bought some crescendo super tweets would I be able to wire them and still make a difference to my front stage? I am planning on upgrading my 4 channel in the future to a Hertz or quality 4 channel after I get my alternator this winter. Should I just wait until I upgrade my 4 channel and just buy a component set?

on my way home last night i noticed that 1 of my 4 sets of comps wasn't working. so i was getting no volume out of the tweeter or the mid bass. I quickly realized it was channel 3 (front right). here is what i did: First I checked the resistance of the speakers and i got an ohm reading of 4ohm each speaker (mid/high) • so this tells me that the speakers are fine Second I check the output of the amp by putting my dmm in voltages A/C • I then compared the output of the channel 3 with the other channels and i got the same amount of output on all channels • so this ruled out my amp as an issue Next i put the dmm in ohm, and check the wires going into the amp leading to th…

Box for an 18" BL. 44.5" wide, 21.5" tall, and 20" deep. Port is 4.5" wide and 20" tall. Port length is 30" for about 30 hz tune and ~6.7ft^3 after displacements. I've never built a ported box and never had a sub that heavy. I've seen people do "window" bracing like I drew here...think this 2" wide bracing be adequate? The sub will fire up and port back in my Explorer (read that is a general rule to go by), but I can turn the box for rear firing the sub and firing the port up if that works better. Thanks for any thoughts!

There was a topic about this (not for sure if it was on this site actually), that i planned on referring to when it came down to installing, but i can't seem to find it anywhere. SO here's what i think im supposed to do, and if anyone could add/correct/verify this, please do. Set subsonic, LPf to where i plan to have them regularly. Set bass boost to zero, and gain to minimum. Get a sine test (60 hz? (would a loud 'music' cd work?)) and adjust the gains untill audible clipping occurs, and then back down a little. So far, i like my current setup compared to the previous which used Morel. However I had encountered whining sound from my tweeter whenever i on my HU or the system. The whining sound was constant. There was no increase in the whinning sound when i increase the accerlator. I encountered this whinning sound after installing Zed LEVIATHAN III. ok, i got a hatchback and about 8-9 cubes to put it in. 2 RE 12' HC's and am gonna build a big enclosure. what do u recommend for the box size, and wat it should be tuned to. i listen to lots of rap and occasionally rock. ty in advance. Sorry im still a newb lol.

i went to my local car audio shop today and they had a good deal on this beefy 15 inch sub. its a razor zsoft. the guy who owns the shop gets em built i've heard. anyways..the sub says its a 4ohm. what kind of amp do i need to get this thing seeing atleast 400 rms. if anyone can toss a link i'd appreciate it because im ready to order an amp right now. i have an ebay account so if you can find me something like autotek or hifonics on there i'd like that..those amps sound okay and dont cost alot.

well I have my new amp.(from gntar) SPL2-1200. so now i'm wondering what kind of speakers and subs would work well? need some new 61/4" for the front doors. i was thinking of a component set but i'm not sure. also what subs to get. i was thinking of getting two 10"s. if possible i'm trying to get all this for under 500. any ideas? I have a ton of questions coming, I need them answered so I can get my bass back! So today I decided I'm going to make a new box for the SSD. Current box is 3.5cuft @33hz 40sqin of port, sub is firing UP and port is firing towards the back of the car. New box, 5cuft@30hz 78sqin of port sub AND port firing towards the cabin it should be tons louder without all the trunk rattle. (I know this is a little much for the ssd but a btl is going in place of it in the next month or two.)
