Through out the course of my adventures in mobile audio I have always been a fan of ZED built amps and have owned a rather wide selection of them... Lanzars, Crunch 50c, Usacoustics, etc... I have never been disapointed in terms of performance or build quality. Gladius reivew: I currently am powering a set of CDT CL-62i/24 components. This is a set in CDT's lower price range, but I am very pleased with bang for the buck. Prior to the Gladius these were powered by my old trusty Orion XTR 375. This amp was always reliable and powerful. It finally died and I was in need of something new. I new ZED was building/marketing thier own amps and had been milling the idea of r…

I'm planning a basic active setup for the time being and currently have a USX-2150 (old style, no blue LED) to run my mids with. Looking for something similar to run tweeters (Seas 27TFFNC) and since i love matching i was thinking of something from the same series anything from 75-150 rms/channel. I'm looking into a set of AA mids. Any advice regarding this, should i aim for a little less power on the tweeter or go about the same? i've done it both ways but i'm not familiar with these tweeters so i figured i would look for some input. they are rated at 90w continuous i believe, but i know that means very little. Also it's highly dependent on what happens to be available a…

Well, my business partner was on a mission to bank some frequent flier miles off some cheap cross country air-fare. He mentioned Vegas, Grand Canyon, (YAWN) then Los Angeles. I told him if we could get up to Simi Valley to count me in! Long story short, Grand Canyon was a big arse hole in the ground, Vegas was pretty cool...helps that my partner does a ton of traveling and gets the VIP treatment at hotels... But actually visiting Zed Audio and meeting with Stephen in person was tremendous. Picture Santa's workshop without so many migets. JK But actually pretty cool. Mostly we just talked about politics and having some laughs, but as always when we talk, I learned …

It's an '87 amp. I bought this amp several years ago for ten bucks, along with a buttload of old tapes and some wireless house speakers from my girlfriend's boss. Didn't have a use for it, and sold it to my cousin with a first run RF HE 8" sub. I now have the sub and amp back. Is this amp, in fact, a Zed amp?

Ok I have an old Vulcan VIII in the garage and was thinking that it is only 4ohm stable bridged then read something about running a larger fuse for 2 ohm. What is the real deal on these? Thanks! David

Like the title says, I bought the last ever brand new Zed Deuce. I'm happy, and sad at the same time. Happy I got the last one ever. Sad that there will be no more. Until the new series that is! I asked Mr. Mantz to sign the bottom of the amp, and ordered it with the burr brown upgrade (seemed only fitting that the last one be the best it could be). This will go with my current Zed Deuce, and the two Gladius' I have. Also, along with the stack of ESX's, and stack of USA series US acoustics, and the one cadence Zed amp i've found. Hopefully I'll have some pics of my Zed powered Suby Outback soon. I'm going to be running an ESX Q475.1 to my subs, an ESX Q175.2 to my mi…

Still trying to get over the fact that MEGALITH won't ever see production..... limping by with JBL/Crown 6K for consolation. Anyway, was talking with Stephen recently about a repair and he mentioned that he was working on an 8 channel pre-amp/processor/factory integration unit, similar to Bit 1, JL Cleansweep, RF symetry, etc. Sounded super sweet, still on , but hopefully it comes to fruition sometime in the future. I have been kicking around the idea of getting JBL MS8, but this gives me a good excuse to wait on pulling the trigger on that one.

I used to have one of the 2300s which was later stolen. I am looking into finding another and decided maybe someone here could help me. If I fail to find one I am probably going to go for the Zed's "The duece". Anyone have any recommendations or info? Dave

Did some initial testing with the Crown amp. Unfortunatley I changed the port at the same time I switched to Minotaurs so I have no idea what direct swap gain would have been. Though I dropped tuning 4hz, sacrificed 42 square inches of port and am still up about .4dB. Geometry of the cargo area didn't allow my 5th battery on the Crown and voltage drop was severe. Minotaurs seem to run quite happily on this battery bank and have an audible improvement in sound.... I expect 8 amps vs. 1 has an edge in damping factor. One thing I really like is the ability to non-invert slave all the amps frorm one pre-amp so I can run 1 amp per coil without the trouble of tryin…

Well I finished my brothers car stereo. I installed 2 ESX amps a 175.2 for his front end and a 275.2 for his subs. All I can say is WOW!!!! We have the setup right now running at flat yet we will be tuning it soon. These amps are just wonderful. I have had some ESX amps in my cars before yet never an install like this. Simple yet very effective.! We have 6.5's in the doors with tweeters as well as 4 incher's in the dash. There are 2 JBL's P1220II at 2 ohms in a sealed box in the rear. The car is a 1997 (i think) VW Golf hatchback. The sound that these amps produce is just crystal clear with enough power to make me and my brother happy. I wonder how it will sound when…

I installed it today and well I am a little suprised how much I had to turn the gain up... I have an Eclipse 8 volt deck and I figured I would leave the amp all the way down...well that was wrong...I had to move it about 1/4 to get any volume..... With gain set to 8volts I could turn the volume all the way to 80 on the deck and it was still rather low... on a side note ...one of the channels is blown so I am going to have to pay to have it fixed or get the seller to take it back..I just got it last Monday... but anyhow....I was expecting to not have to touch the gain with the 8volts deck...thats really the only reason I have the deck.... was I crazy? ....right now I hav…

I am very excited to have purchased a mint condition ESX Q 60.4 off of EBAY from Audio Clinic. The amp is in mint condition and is a classic and will be replacing my Atomic Trinity. How good is this amp? When was it built? Damn I am so happy to finally have a ZED amp.

Running a Kronos to my mids & tweets and a Minatour2 to my subs (replaced 2 zapco comp 300's) have to say I absolutely love the Zeds. Lately every now and then when I start my car I'll hear a pop and the Kronos will go into protect mode while the Minatour is running just fine, I then have to turn the car off,Wait 5 sec and turn it back on and everything is fine, Was wondering if simply installing a Stinger SGN21 to delay the remote turn on would be a viable fix or is this a sigh of something possibly needing to be replacement in the amp, First time in a long time I've had to deal with any kind of turn on pop, Kinda currious if this somthing common with older Kronos a…

I am a little unclear as to what exact Lanzar amps were built by Zed Audio. I understand they were the OptiDrive ones but there are several different Optis. Anyone have any info and/or pics? Thanks!

Just bought my first, brand new, amplifier today (all my amplifiers were always second-hand). The ZED Audio Leviathan III. I have one question I need to find out about it. There is a little orange light inside that lights up when I raise the volume up on my deck (Pioneer 80PRS). The letters "VDRV" is written next to the light. I tried looking around online to understand what it is, but can't find any information on it. Is it by chance to signal when the upper rail is turned on in the amplifier to produce more power? Or does it have to do with the strength of the signal coming out the deck entering the amplifier? ---> First impressions of the amplifi…
