I spoke with Sir Stephen Mantz and the new domain name for the ZED Audio website is: www.zedaudiocorp.com or www.zedamps.com or www.zedaudioamps.com. All three are the same site as before. I believe there is a new one in the works though.

I talked to Stephen today for a good hour. He was bouncing ideas off me and me back at him. We discussed the new heatsink as well. If he decides to use the idea he told me about, you can call the pharmacist and cancel all your prescriptions for Viaga, Cialis and the like. I promise these amps are going to be so damn sexy you wont need the scripts anymore, heck you might even be able to kick the wife or girlfriend out cause she wont be needed anymore! Seriously though, after what we talked about, these new amps are going to be some of the sexiest amps on planet earth. I wished I could spill the beans but I was asked not to. We appear to be still out about 90 days…

I spoke with Steve about what kind of amps he will be making in the future. I am frankly amazed that the #1 complaint from customers about the Old Zeds was price. I mean come on ! I have 2 Gladius, a Deuce, and a Minilith running a 4 way Dynaudio setup fed from the alpine F1 head and processor. It sounds absolutely incredible. My $1200 worth of amps clearly blow away amps from other manufacturers whose product costs 2-5 times a much. I will not mention names but I compared other amps with his with the same head and speakers and the Zeds outperformed or hung with all the high dollar brands. I sent one of his Gladius amps into Car Audio Magazine to be reviewed and the teste…

Question, this being a "subwoofer" amplifier, why does it not have a subsonic filter? Is it only meant to supply power in a sealed enclosure application??? Are the crossover points setup in a way so that I may remove the frequencies I don't want>? Example: It has crossover points @ 25hz , 31hz, 40hz, 50hz, and 63hz.. If I set the crossover points on 25hz to -12db will that "remove" that frequency's reproduction? If I leave it at 0 will it do the same? I really like this amplifier and feel that 1000w is more than enough to get an Xcon moving... My other choice would be a RF t1500-bdCP when funds allow.... Hopefully review at work goes well and I get a raise... Then I…

I have to say I was disappointed in the new tinted Zed cover. I purchased the amp largely as a show piece and most of the advertizing prictures of the V3 had a clear cover. Honestly, if I knew it had a tinted cover I probably would have found another used v2. This is an SPL build so SQ isn't that important to me. I enjoyed my v2, because the LEDs shown through the 6x9 speaker slots in the rear deck. I pulled the stock speakers a few installs ago, and there was nothing to stop the light. I loved it... I would really like to purchase a v2 cover if they are avaliable, pm me if anyone has one. I know people have grumbled that the LEDs were very bright, but now you can't se…

http://www.zedaudiocorp.com/News/news.html Stephen mentioned in an email to me that his new MEGALITH will do 1KW at 4 ohms and 1800W at 2 ohms. My guess is that it won't safely do 1 ohm. I use dual 2 ohm coils generally on my subs so I'm in for a 4 piece of these. Any other rumors on this?

I am about to buy an amp for my pioneer premier ts-c720prs speakers and am looking at the USX 2080 amp that puts out 80 watts rms x 2 @ 4 ohms... It is only $49.50 plus shipping, but they are repaired amps... Does anyone have experience with this amp and if so how good are they? Here is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/US-Acoustics-USX-2080-...ksid=p1638.m118

  12. Problems with: ZED Audio Minotaur II - this amp is creating some kind of feedback noise to my entire system... at first, it was terrible. this crazy squealing noise that just didn't stop, regardless if the car was actually running of just had power to the stereo. so i brought it back to the installer, and they put a ground noise isolator (or something like that) in-line for the amp's RCAs. this reduced the noise greatly, but then when i would turn on the car, the sub would just start pounding for about a minute before it would stop. this was regardless if there was any signal coming from the radio or not. then today i brought it back to the installer, and they gr…

Does anyone know if this amp was made with the Chrome Heatsink? I know they made it with the Charcoal grey and black and red letters. The reason I ask is I just ran into a USA 4050 with the Chrome heatsink and I was hoping to find a 2300 to match it.

Did some initial testing with the Crown amp. Unfortunatley I changed the port at the same time I switched to Minotaurs so I have no idea what direct swap gain would have been. Though I dropped tuning 4hz, sacrificed 42 square inches of port and am still up about .4dB. Geometry of the cargo area didn't allow my 5th battery on the Crown and voltage drop was severe. Minotaurs seem to run quite happily on this battery bank and have an audible improvement in sound.... I expect 8 amps vs. 1 has an edge in damping factor. One thing I really like is the ability to non-invert slave all the amps frorm one pre-amp so I can run 1 amp per coil without the trouble of tryin…

Really the price per watt of these held me back for a while (that and the Crown 6K that I picked up last year), but I've gotta say, since these came out I've spent more in repairs and blowing up crappy chinese and Korean amps than these ended up costing me. I have still to do more testing, but initial impressions are "run don't walk!" and get you some of these. If you're wanting 1000W range they're worth the extra cost for the crossover and EQ options, and if you want more power, they're worth the reliability. I haven't had a far East built amp >1200W last me more than 6 or 7 months yet.

Like the title says, I bought the last ever brand new Zed Deuce. I'm happy, and sad at the same time. Happy I got the last one ever. Sad that there will be no more. Until the new series that is! I asked Mr. Mantz to sign the bottom of the amp, and ordered it with the burr brown upgrade (seemed only fitting that the last one be the best it could be). This will go with my current Zed Deuce, and the two Gladius' I have. Also, along with the stack of ESX's, and stack of USA series US acoustics, and the one cadence Zed amp i've found. Hopefully I'll have some pics of my Zed powered Suby Outback soon. I'm going to be running an ESX Q475.1 to my subs, an ESX Q175.2 to my mi…

Two things, we have been doing a lot of old school amplifier upgrading lately and it seems that so many guys do not want the overseas junk but would rather upgrade their older amps. $49 no fault found, $89 to repair and phone estimate on those badly blown amplifiers. We do the whole deal, BB upgrade where possible and if requested, capacitor upgrades, Mosfet and output transistor upgrades and even change the power transformer for better regulation and bottom end "slam". We currently do about 4-6 repairs a day but would like to increase this as so many guys send their amplifiers to shops who mess them up even further. Finally Zed will introduce new amplifiers BUT not…

I just recieved my copy of the june issue and by god they reviewed the Gladius. Reviewer stated it is in the top 5 amps for sound quality he has ever tested. Congrats Stephen! Heck and this is the first time I have ever visited this forum too, but it looks like it is time to install my Gladius and two Miniliths and start my second SQ vehicle! Actually Anyone wanna trade a mint Minilith hand signed by Stephen for a Duece plus cash?

I have read a million different posts on the various ways to set it....but ....I just wanted to get an idea where you guys have yours set at.... I am running a Pioneer 880prs 5 volt deck and the gain is currently straight up 12 O'clock position or halfway.... I havnt had it installed a week yet and barely spent any time in it yet....so its still in adjust phase but I at this moment can turn the deck up to max volume and its not distorting to me...so I am wondering if I can turn the gains any more or if I am already past where it should be at... I really hate amps not having clipping indicators ...it would be much easier to set with them
