So I am thinking of adding another Xcon 15" (1ohm) and not sure if I should stay ported or go sealed...I have a Hifonics BRX2000.1D which currently runs my ported 15" (1ohm dvc) w/ 1400rms @ 2ohm. I don't intend to upgrade the amp as right now my stock alternator seems fine, and have no plans to upgrade alternator anytime soon...sooo... Running two subs will pretty much leave me with 1k rms for each sub...and the idea of staying ported or going sealed is keeping me awake at night! Not to mention enclosure size and design. In the back of my Santa Fe has a storage compartment which houses my amps, but I get the feeling with it being so hollow it could be echoing my ba…

Hey guys. I need a little help designing a ported enclosure for my new Crystal CMPx2 15". It's going to go in the trailblazer for now. I listen to nearly everything so I'm looking for a good daily build. I could be off but I'm thinking I want to tune somewhere between 31-33Hz so I can get some lows. My size limitations are 46" wide x 16" high x 14" deep. I have a little wiggle room on height and depth, but I'd like to keep as much space as possible in the Trailblazer. I will post T/S parameters below and I expect to be running at 1500+ watts with maybe a little headroom, probably going to just grab a RF T1500bdcp, unless I get a better deal on something else. I'd really…

I currently have a 12" Xcon d2 with a bc2000 wired in parellel in a 2 cu. ft. net box tuned to 32 hz. with 38.5" of port area and love the sound. It is in a 98 mustang with stock alt, stock replacement battery(under hood), 0 gauge all the way including big 3, and marine deep cycle in trunk. My 2 concerns are running amp at .5 ohm until i can get a second bc2000( not sure how long it will be until i get it) linked at a 2 ohm load. Before i link the two i will upgrade the alt. The second concern is space as i only have 31W x 12.5H x 29D max. I really want to keep ported but if it isn't optimal then it might have to be sealed. So I guess I have 2 questions. Can anyone help m…

So maybe I'm confused and doing this wrong but I haven't had trouble before. I've been modeling a pair of BL10's based on T/S parameters from the website. I've been told that they work great tuned low for a flat response but they seem to model great on 2.16 cu ft each at 31 Hz. Actually when I run them at 24-26Hz they kinda look like shit. Am I doing something wrong? Or does the 31Hz tune look fantastic for a build? The blue line is 2 drivers in 4.327 cubic feet at 31Hz

Hey guys, a friend of mine is looking to install his Tymphany Lat 700 in his Chevy Astro. Currently I'm looking at 40x21.5x10 with 2 3" ports. Length of 15" for the ports tuned to 24Hz. Torres says this is correct. It's mainly a show piece, and he wants to get it moving. Can anyone help me out with a box design or recommendations? It's kind of an odd driver(s) http://www.tymphany.com/files/resources/dlat/LAT700-001.pdf Sub will be used on music not Home Theater

would a port facing the side work in a 2001 eclipse hatchback.......its about a foot away from the panel if I were to face the port to the back ....the port will only be about an inch away from the back panel.... and I don't think it will have any air flow. if I face the port to the side .....will it practically be the same as facing it to the back?

Just finished my new install, a 12" xcon in a 2.75ft^3 box tuned to 31hz. This is in the trunk of my 96 Accord. I listen with the seat down so the sub and port are firing into the cabin. All my boxes and setups have taught me that each setup is very different and showcase different songs better than others. The "show off" songs that sound awesome on the previous setup don't usually sound as good when you change things. I get that and accept that, but now I have a new issue. So after I got my xcon playing I was setting the gains and playing around with different songs and was not super impressed, it was loud but I knew it should be louder. so I popped the trunk to go bac…

I'm looking into building a new box and was wondering if there were any suggestions on the port's location. Its an extended cab truck and the subs and port will be upfiring with subs inverted. When competing it will most likely be USACI outlaw scoring with drivers door open. Would it be better to put the port on the passenger side, driver side, or center of the box?

i will be purchasing either an IA DP 15D1 or an IA judge 15D1 and i would like to know a box recommendation for it and what tune would be good since there are no specs on here and their website. the other question is i want to fill the whole trunk with the box amp and second battery/ultracap i notice i will have a very tiny gap with the port facing the back(the trunk lid not the inside) for the ports to push air so i was going to do port and sub face up, just curious to know how much db i will lose from doing that instead of port back sub back or sub up

In process of getting my 15" zcon reconed to a 12" but I need to build the enclosure. Car is an "04 Grand prix trunk is painted with GT MAT which I've come to realize works real well. Sub back port back is what I'm trying to accomplish for now. I'll experiment later, but have come to realize that sub back port back sounds really well wamming off the trunk in the American cars I've owned. Running a group 34 up front with 2 XS power 975s in the rear. Stock alt will be replaced with a mech 270 in the near future. So I need to build this box to a 3k setup. Sub will be ran on a mmats m3000.1 with 2 runs of welding wire with knu kollossus filling the gaps big 3 exc. I …

I'm down for a few day for recovery from a surgery. So I'm brainstorming about my front stage. 99 2dr blazer is the vehicle. Right now I'm thinking about loading my pillars will multiple full range drivers. Not really looking for super ess que but half assed decent imaging and response. The sub stage is going to be decently loud so I need loud up front. Right now, I'm looking at 3-4 of these per pillar. I really like the look of these too. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=295-352 Possibly four of these. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=290-226 Then I like the idea of 6 of these in each pillar but I need to make su…

I bought 2 aurum cantus ac165/50c2c to go in a 2 way active setup (morel 378s for tweets). The speakers are not made to run infinite baffle, but I figured I could make something work. I'm not quite sure dimensions yet for the door, but at first I was thinking of using those 6.5 foam speaker baffles that seal the speaker. I am doubtful that these will give them enough space or will be optimal but Id rather they be sealed in a tiny airspace then free air. I am going for sound quality in my front stage, so I want a more permanent better solution to this. Any tips on going about making an enclosure? Also to note this will be in a new chrysler 300 so I don't want to cut up t…

I am currently waiting on my 1st xcon and want to run 2 eventually but don't know if I can. I can slide a 31W x 12 3/4H x 29D through the rear seat opening. That is about the max size i can do through the seat opening i could go an extra half inch in the sides and maybe an inch on height but would be tight squeeze. Also i want ported if possible. Thanks for any help.

I have a 12" GCON in a 2.5ft^3 enclosure tuned to 32hz. I have been lacking in response toward higher frequencies and was curious to know where the drop was happening, as it is quite a steep slope. I was playing with a tone generator this evening and from 28 to 50hz sounded amazing but as soon as I hit 53hz I lost significant dbs. There was another significant drop at 60hz. Is this due to my box tuning? Can a ported enclosure be expected to produce these frequencies with significant spl? What can I do to get these frequencies to play? Separate subs dedicated to that range? box position doesn't seem to make a difference. Vehicle is a 96 Honda accord sedan.

Upon further inspection, my fifteens were abused by the previous owner, and only have one functioning coil each, so i'll be replacing then much sooner than expected. I am still not completely decided on a course of action, but I thought I would ask some questions about walls before I wrote it off as too difficult. First one, I know the weight will lower mileage significantly, which isn't cool, but I live within four miles of all my main destinations, so it's not too bad. Will the weight of a wall enclosure require attention to the suspension? to be honest, i'm not entirely sure what kinds of questions to ask, so any advice from those of you experienced with such enclosur…

I am putting together a box for a single 12" xcon. It will net 2.7 ft^3 and be tuned to 30hz. My question is: how much difference will lining the inside of the box with resin make? Is it worth the extra time and money? This is a daily setup, I do not compete. Will my ears b able to tell the difference?

I been going back and fourth for the past few weeks about doing a enclosure to go under the rear seat in my truck. I entered my measurements in the enclosure calculator on the12volt. and i came up with 4.7 cubic ft but it have the transmission hump thats right in the center of the floor and i dont know how to subtract that from the total that i got from the enclosure calculator....do you guys think and enclosure like this would work with a external port? Im still looking around for some good 10's that would work with 1 cubic ft or less

i was looking up designs for front facing subwoofers/front facing ports.there was 2 designs that got me thinking......i see more people use the L-bend port on a suwoofer box .....like this and less people use a design like this im not a big box builder.....so can somebody tell me why most people use the L-bend instead of the dual chamber middle port design........is it because u get both subs working together in same chamber? and how would it change the air flow from side port to middle?

Hello , I am building a box with a round port. I'll try to flare the openings to have a nice flare port It will be a 6" port or an 8", I don't know yet ! How far from the box side can I have the port ? How much "room" does it need to play correctly, safely ? I know I can use an elbow, and I will if it's necessary. Thanks in advance for your advices.

Picked up a buddies old back not too long ago(Sir-lancelot) he previously had vinly on it and used the carpet spread glue not the spray. My plans are to repaint it glossy black for a ht box with a couple of other changes BUT the glue is so thick and isn't coming off! What would be the best way to remove it back to bare mdf? I been using a heat gun but it will take hours and hours to make a significant progress that way.

Hi, I finally decided on building my own HT subwoofer (50%HT and 50$ music) and I want to build the best I can of cours at a reasonnable price. I believe I should go with a 18" and planning on using a 7cu3 box. I also love massive bass and I would agree to have a little more power even if I loose a little quality, this is why I am going with a ported box. Now, is the Fi Q 18 would be my best bet? What about the TEAM serie? I don't know yet what frequency I will be using, somewhere arounf 30hz? For the box, here is the 18" shema : http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/44520-q-series-cut-sheets/ Thank for your help!
