If you had an enclosure for 2 12" subs with 2.2 cubes ea, with individual airspaces could u build a common port to split between the 2? or if you had a common port area would the enclosure have to have a common airspace for the subs as well?

I've been looking at the usaci rules but all I can find is that it says modifications are trunk only so does this mean batteries and amps also have to be in the trunk or just the sub?

I ordered two 12" D1 Icons and want to build a box for them before they get here, but I have only built one box before and have had three pre-fab box's before. In all of my sub setups (total of 4) it seemed that my very first enclosure "folded horn" box which is what the salesman told me it was. . Was it actually a folded horn box, I have no idea, BUT according to everyone else apparently you could hear me about 5 blocks away with two 10" memphis subs 250rms each. That box seemed the cleanest i've ever had and it had the port in the middle of the box with a wall in the middle of the port running parallel with it, so basically each subwoofer had its own chamber. My questi…

Am trying to calculate the exact cu.ft for a wedge enclosure. I tried a few different sites and got anywhere from 5.8 - 6.0 cu.ft. Since I needed the exact size I worked it out by hand myself. Here are my dimensions and what i got. Can anyone double check this for me please? Wedge Design Outside Dimensions Height = 22" Depth 1 = 10" Depth 2 = 20" Width = 39" Formulas used: Rectangle L X W X D Triangle 0.5 (B X H X W) Since the design is basicly a rectangle and a triangle combination, thats how i calculated it. I got 4.12 cu.ft for the rectangle and 2.06 cu.ft for the triangle with a gross volume of 6.18 cu.ft. I also took into account that the 1.5"…

When mounting subs like this, can you make the enclosure smaller than recommended? For instance, if the subs call for 1.5 cubes each ported can you get away with making the box 2-2.5 for both? What are the (dis)advantages to mounting subs like this? Or are there any?I know the polarity needs to be reversed with the sub mounted inverted.

I am thinking about putting 2 SA-8 in my truck. I have a reg cab 03 S10. I need something small cause of the room issue. The box calculator on the RE Audio site gave me some weird dimensions. Like the port only having .25 inches gap to the back plate with a fz of around 33hz. Does that sound right? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I have been working on an enclosure for 2 SSA Zcons. Spent the last week on these. Learning how to use sketch up and trying to understand torres calculation tool. I have come up with two designs using these. I am looking for some advice from someone to help me confirm my that what I have done is correct to what has been drawn. I could send my sketchup design to you for advice. I have used the torres calculation tuner to determine my port lengths and sizes. I am not 100% sure I have fully understand all senarios which change my calculations in this calculator.

  16. whats up guys? Havent been on here in a while... Im running a Kicker kx2500.1 on a 18" Btl. The sub is a few years old, triple stack magnet, cooling, pchamfer etc..dual 2 ohm. It is in the back of my 2001 tahoe right now. I have a box, but it looks like crap and I need a new one. What would you feel would be a decent size and tuning? I listen to mostly rap, love when it hits super low and moves some air. I think my box is tuned around 34 hz right now. Could I go lower for daily? Would i be ok doin sub and port facing back? heres the box I have it in now, the port comes out on the top left. It was built for my last truck, so the port location isnt ideal.. let me know what …

  17. Hello all, am quite new to this forum and have been around caraudio for a little while but still have a lot to learn especially as I haven't been as passionate as most seem to be here Anyway I have this old car in good shape that I am using to drive to work at the coal mine and have put a stereo into it although most needs to be reinstalled as it is just temporary. I have a 15" RL-p Soundsplinter sub on an SAZ 1500D amp and an alpine HU and some Hertz 165 high power components running on a 400W MA Audio amp I had laying around. The Sub is in a ported enclosure I built a while back for the 08 Charger I had but never put the sub into...... problem is the enclosure is too …

As far as sealed enclosures are concerned, I find myself to be pretty knowledgeable. When it comes to ported enclosures, thats a different story. Ive been reading quite a bit and tryin to find out how the fudge to make one - mainly the port itself and how you incorporate this with the rest of the box. When i look at ported boxes it looks likes a pucking maze and i havent the slightest clue how long to cut each piece of wood <-----thats just one of the many things im not educated on....I know about displacement and all that good stuff but still find myself extremely confused when it comes to ports....if anyone has a site i can go to and read up that would be appreciated…

I am just dreaming here. I plan to upgrade my substage, but due to a lack of cash, this probably wont be for another year or so. im just kinda tossin around ideas. I want to have a system that is "Clean n Loud", not geared specifically towards SQ or SPL. I listen mainly to rock, metal, but on occasion rap and R&B (so basically everything). I have a decent sized trunk but the entrence to said trunk is very small, hindering what can fit into it..... So far i am thinking of three ideas that would fit. The first would be to run 2 10" SSD's in a ported box, tuned to ~30 hz, the second would be to run 2 12" SSD's in a sealed box. Any recomendations on these two? Like i sa…

  21. Okay, so I have a quick question. I am planning on getting 2 Sundown SA-15's. I already have an enclosure built by the local shop, but I believe it's for an SUV. It fits in my trunk, so I was considering just rollin' with it. Only problem is, it's subs up, port back. It's 3.1ft^3 per sub, which seems fine.. but I could also have someone build me a custom enclosure that would be more of a traditional trunk style enclosure. I'm trying to save as much money as possible. What should I do? What would sound better? Thanks.

hey guys, this is probably a noob question, but i have an 18" fi q in my car with the bp option. i have it hooked up to a hifonics 1610 1600watts rms, i am running about 1200 (i set it with a dmm). its in a 6.3 cubic foot box after displacement, and its tuned to 31 hz. my question is, why is it that when my doors are open it sounds alot louder than with the door shut. opening the windows helps when im driving, but its getting cold and i wasnt sure if there was anything i could do to make it loud with the doors and windows shut. any help would b great. thanx.

I need help. I traded my 2 vvx-15 for a sundown v2 18 inch in a box that needs help. I want I box thats tuned between 30-34 htz. I want it vented not ported, I like the look better. I like how loud it gets but I would like to control it a little better when I turn it up, but I think its the box that leaks. I have a jeep grand cherokee, so I know I have the space for a large box. At the moment the the sub faces up I would like it if it fired to the back. Any help is greatly appreciated. And I am still running the planet audio bb2400.1

  24. I did some noob calculations and would appreciate someone varifying what I have done. I would like to do this build one shot. Here is what I have done so far. Skip this if it doesn't help. The box I have now, 40" L x 16" W x 16" H. Internal volume considering 3/4"MDF, I got 4.68cf - port dispacement (4.75 x 14.4 x 30) or 1.31cf = 3.37 - driver displacement of (.16 x 2) or .32 = 3.05 or 1.52cf/driver. I did two alternate box calculations of which I am interested in one. It is as follows: 40" W x 20" W x 16" H. Internal volume considering 3/4"MDF, I got 5.97cf - port displacement (4.75" x 14.4" x 17.28") or .68cf = 5.29cf - driver displacement (.32) = 4.97cf or 2.48cf/driv…
