Well I need to know what size recones to order and box to start building.... will either be doing 2 12" zcons in a 6th order ported through rear deck or 2 15" zcons in ported firing into car with trunk sealed off. . Did a 145.6 with one zcon 15 on 3000 watts so hoping I can brake 150 .......either 12s or 15s will have same amp. Thinking bc5500 or somewhere in the 5-6k range. 2. Finally designed my first enclosure. It is for a 12" GCON. ~2.5 ft^3 tuned to ~33hz. Does my math/design look correct? Does this look like a design that will translate into the real world effectively? It will be going in the trunk of a 1996 Honda Accord sedan powered by an AQ1200. This is what I came up with to fit my trunk space needs. Any critiques and opinions are welcome and greatly appreciated.

  3. Hello all, I'm new to this forum, but not to car audio. I am however new to the Sundown woofers. I'm hoping you all can lend some help and thank you in advance on my enclosure design. What I have is an 05 Acura TL I'm doin a pair of Sundown SA12s in the trunk. Subs to be fired foward and a 6in Aero either out the back or side. I have tried several enclosures with foward fired subs & port, but the car just did not really like it. Last setup was a single CV Stroker12, power was supplied by an O.S. USamps VLX400 1ohm mono. I had good results with two 4in PVC ports fired back, Sub obviously foward. Then tried a 6in Aero out the drivers side of box. The Aero was slightly b…

I have a Hummer H3 with dual Sundown sa-12D4's running off a Hifonics BRZ1700.1 with 145 amp alt, big 3, 0 gauge, 8 gauge power wire for the speaker wire. I have them in a box with dimensions 38x21.25x14; .75 mdf. The port is 12.5x4.5x31.5 long. I have made the port longer and shorter and can't seem to get it to peak around 34hz. It sounds like it is peaking around 38 or so to me. I have built many single sub boxes, and all of them end up being just about perfect, but I can't seem to get this dual box to sound correctly. I have made 3 different boxes trying to get my box hitting the lows well, but can't seem to do it. Could somebody please help me to get the right …

I've decided to try a ported enclosure for my sa-10 just for kicks. I'm thinking 1.0ft^3 tuned to around 33hz. I'm not set on 33hz, it's somewhat of a guess as to what may sound good - I'm going for sq more than spl and listen to all genres so I need it to give me the accurate punch of rock as well as the lows in rap. My box is limited to a size of 8"d x 13h x 33"w The sub will pretty much be right up against the rear shelf of the car behind the passenger seats in a porsche 911 so I was thinking it would be better to go with a side firing aeroport over a rectangular port. My box would measure roughly 8"d x 12.5"h x 31"w, making it 1.12ft^3 after sub displacement, this wou…

I have spent the last few weeks playing with the orientation of my sealed subwoofer box in my trunk and found the best orientation (to my ears anyway) I am now designing a ported box and was wondering if the optimal orientation will change sealed vs ported? Here is the current orientation:

  8. Pardon the dust, under construction Hey guys! Have you ever seen panels in installs like this and wondered how in the world did they get those shapes? Well with a series of router tips and tricks, you can start with literally any shape drawn on paper (shown on left), and transform it into a perfectly fabricated wooden template that you can then copy several times into future installs. (Shown on right). Take your installs to the next level with these shaped panels that you can use for hiding amps and crossovers, trimming around speakers, making amazing port shapes, the possibilities are endless! Let's get down to the nitty gritty: What you Need: Safety First! Make sure…

Is there a good rule of thumb to follow when it comes to designing a custom ported enclosure in regards to volume vs tuning frequency? Like the more volume you have the lower you want it tuned? I have been playing with design specs in winisd and based on the graphs I see in the design window, want to build a 3ft^3 box tuned to 34hz for my 12" GCON . How well would this design translate into the real world? Box will be in trunk of my '96 accord. I listen to all types of music but LOVE dub step and deep bass. Would 32hz sound better. I am looking for max spl and bass response through a wide frequency range...

Currently I have a 15" zcon in a 4th order bp ported through rear deck. Going to be getting 2 12" zcons and trying to think of what kind of box to start on. 4th . 6th. Ported with trunk sealed off? Which ever one I chose I'm going to be porting through my rear deck.. I think I can get about 9 or 10 cubes if I pretty much Max the trunk out .which I could do... Just seeing if anyone has any opinions on anything that will help me make up my mind? If you got any questions just ask. Going to be running 4 - 5k. Maybe a little more. Wanting to get started a.s.a.p. thanks.

Hey guys i know this is a stupid question but when lowes cuts your wood are the cuts pretty straight. And what do they charge per cut? let me know. i've been having a hell of a time getting straight cuts with my saw and a guide clamp... for the most part they are straight but when the box is all assembled there is always a few corners that are off balance...

  15. I just bought a pair of 10" dcons from Stefan on this very forum yesterday. So while they are on their way I'm looking to get a box design for them. Subs up port back. Looking for the most optimal enclosure size using what ever type of port that would work better for me (slot, aero, or pvc port that sticks out of the enclosure itself) with the dimensions I have H x W x D 13" x 28" x 17" tuned to 32hz. Thanks for the help.

Just spent the past hour trying to understand the entire deal with box specs and this is what I got Didn't really do any displacement math which is why I put in the Tuning Freq. at 26 Figured after all displacements highest it'd be would be at highest around 35 Hz Anyone see any design flaws with this? The Box is going in a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and I listen to Rock/Rap but more so Rap music.

So tomorrow I'm going to begin building my enclosure for 2 10" Skar IVX's. I'll just be running these as a temp. setup on a BRZ 1200.1 So onto my questions, is this optimum setup for my vehicle? (2001 honda accord) I've heard subs forward, port forward sounds louder to the listeners ear. Any truth behind this? Do I have enough port area? Should I be running subs up port forward? Or vice versa? Any input is greatly appreciated and thanks

Anyone know of any good Upstate NY Box builders, I was going to build my box myself but the Panel Saw that I was going to use is no longer available and I'm god awful with a circular saw. I'm in the Utica area to be specific willing to travel up to 1.5 hours for a good box, already have the designs courtesy of Alton. I'd also be open to out of state box builders but would have to be rather cheap due to the cost of shipping

Have a 12" GCON in a sealed box. It sounds great but I am wanting more and I know the sub will give it to me if I can put it in the right enclosure. I used the ICON enclosure design for the sealed box it is in now, would the ICON ported design work well for the GCON as well? It falls into the optimal range, 2.5f^3 tuned to 33hz. It is a 2 ohm sub with 500 watts powering it in the trunk of a '96 accord. I have about 32" x 20" x 18" to work with. Anyone have any experience or recommendations for a ported box design that will work well with the GCON?

  23. Hi guys, A good friend of mine want to use his Fi btl n2 15" in a new ported box. He was using mine until I sold the box. This will be a temporary setup, as he is in the process of ordering a second btl, and the box for the 2 is ready (he had 2 Xcons 15" in, before). So, the box he wants to use has those dimensions: 83 cm x 37 cm x 50 cm 32.7" x 14.6" x 19.7" Those are internal dimensions. He has 2 4" flared ports that he wants to use. What length should he make them to achieve a 32 Hz tuning ? Thanks very much for your help. I use to "work" with RAM Design for L port boxes, but I want to try the forum members for these round ports.

  25. Hello all . Im in beginning stages of design for my 2002 PT Cruiser Enclosure. This will be my first year competing in the lanes for SPL. I know its correct to have a daily box and a burp box, but I would like to get as close of a mix in one box as possible. My initial thoughts would be to have subs facing up and slot port facing up as well because of the lack of room. So far I am just looking for any advice I can get. Max Dimensions: 39w x 20h x 14d. Would prefer port in between subs but If it doesnt make a difference, im flexible. Am I on the right track? Any help would be appreciated.
