SPL & SQ / Fabrication

Just finishing up a ported box I did for my Icon 12's. Still have to cut out the woofer holes. They'll be facing up. Anyone have some suggestions on how I should finish it? Stain, paint, carpet? Port painted white? Or stained? Any ideas appreciated.

After watching YouTube and attending a few myself. It appears competitions make the hobby kind of sour. Online were all friends, then comp day rolls around and it's like the wild wild west. I've seen a lot of friends and drama start and end from these "comps" Almost to the point I don't even like attending them. I go to shows to talk interact and enjoy the hobby. I just feel like comps get way too serious. FTLOB!!!!

My next car is hopefully going to be a 2002 Subaru Sti hatch, and I'm going to wall it with 6 Fi IB3's on a 7k. Pic 1 Pic 2 My first question is, should I build just a baffle, was thinking 9" baffle; or should I build a partial box and with the back seat removed leave the rear open to the trunk and deaden the fuck out of the lid, along with magnetic locks around the perimeter to keep it from slapping? The second smaller question is, I was daydreaming and thought of putting a trapdoor in the trunk floor on actuators to vent to the ground when I'm driving on the highway or at a show for more airflow. So I'm trying to make a center console and I'm going to put some 6.5 evils in both sides of it. Seeing is the mids are facing back to back should I put a divider between them? Is it going to call his cancellation if I don't? If I do or don't should I be putting polyfill inside this also?

Can someone check my work, to verify I am gaining maximum beneficial value from the bracing? From my understanding the bracing has two primary functions, other than structural support. To keep two panels from having the same resonate frequency, and to break up standing waves. Is there any adjustments I should make? Will I benefit from routeing the bracing edges round? Should I add a few randomly placed triangle braces? Remove the diagonals from the center brace? I'm finally going to put my 2 TC Sounds OEM 10's to work. I have 2 10" matching passive radiators that I'm going to use, too. I usually go sealed, but want to try these out ported (so to speak). I was going to build one box with 2 separate chambers to specs (.6 ft^3 each) but was wondering if I could just use 1 common chamber (1.2 ft^3)? Another idea would be to get another passive radiator so I'd have 3 total for 2 subs in a common chamber? Would this be better than the 2 (I heard that you should have a bigger sized passive radiator than the woofer)? All inputs are greatly appreciated. Tha car is a 206 Peugeot, it's small hatchback car. What is considered the windowline in a competition vehicle? My doors and my trunk windows have a different height. Also, do they have no wall classes with a height limit vs the window rule?

Hello again! Wanted to have a quick poll/question. So do most of you use MDF or HDPE for door speaker applications? I know some people won't touch any plastic for audio, but some would swear by some of the high quality stuff like HDPE. Your guy's votes/opinions?

I need to know what the best size box would be for a JL 13w7 for spl. I have always heard most manufacturers give smaller then optimal size requirements just to sell subs and to lower power handling so they have less warranty claims. Looking for anybody who has experience with these subs who can tell me what's the best cubic feet to get the max out of these subs. I'm running them off the JL HD1200/1's in a 2013 Dodge Avenger R/T. Pretty big trunk just small opening may have to build box in place. I want to run ported for more output but still be musical. Also need to know tuning.

Well I pulled the trigger and I got 2 evil 18s. A lot of my friends are telling me 4th order bandpass I'm not completely sold on doing it. One of my friends has the same Subs and paid for a custom design for his vehicle where sealed is 5.5 cubes ported is 14.8. SSA recommends 4.5 - 6.25 sealed. I realize that is strictly for a sealed box, but my question is that 5.5 that they have designed for him is only big enough for 1 sub. Is the design rules different with 4th orders? I'm leaning more towards just a regular ported but my thought process was for an extra 2-3cu tops why not have the same set up?

I'm looking at piping for a 12" port for my next box; please for fucks sweet sake tell me there's cheaper 90* bends out there than four hundred dollars. I just need a 12" port 48" long to get my tuning. Is there someone out there who can help me with a custom enclosure design with a single 10 inch jl audio 10w6v3. The enclosure i am looking for would need to be 1 cubic foot with aero ports tune at 35hz. As far as space i have to work with i draw a simple image of what the space i have to work with.

I have two 10 inch subwoofer in a very big box. 4.4 cubic feet before displacement. I have one 4 inch Aero I made with pvc pipe but I get noise at low notes,tuning right now is 30hz. Was thinking to go with 6 inch tuned to 33hz.

Hi guys new to the forum ,not new to car audio .I need help with my truck ,I want it to have slamming bass.The problem is not much room so I changed to buckets to allow for a console box. I have a t line with a sundown 6.5 and it is ok.I'm giving it 300rms but it's not doing what I want.I'm going to build a new box and have measurements of space for the new box. I'm planning on using a c.t sounds 900.1 amp for the new setup.The measurements are 10=h 32=l 9=w inches. Which box builder said 1.09 cubic feet ? I was thinking 2 8 soundqubed hs08, 2 D.C. 8s,sundown x-8 or ? Any help would be appreciated I planned on ported enclosure.

I've been trying to find a 12 that would give me the best output for my 350z....so obviously I don't have a ton of space but I'm thinking 2.5 cubes before displacement. I don't know a lot about this stuff so I thought I would come on here and ask. I was either thinking a xcon or a sundown Z maybe or soundqubed to save some money. Any opinions on what I should do would be great. I forgot to mention that the amp is a older nine.1 which is about 1500 rms at 1ohm.
