I recently found my Visonik 12" woofer and i decided to build a box for it. I have ~$120 for supplies so nothing elaborate. My plan is a little under 4cuft (before displacement) tuned at ~26hz. I would like to use aero ports. The woofer is rated at 250rms, but handled 400rms from my RF200.2 like a champ. I have ~140wrms of clean power to play with, from my HT amp (Samsung HT in a box, very nice system for $220, on sale) I am switching it out for the current woofer, the 8" that is currently in the corner. My parents always turn the sub level way down when they watch movies (frustrating lol) So its mostly for my chopped and screwed music, that i can't fit on my iPod shuffle…

I am looking for some songs with very good LOW bass notes. The best I have so far are: 24 23 by Trae (and by jeezy, there are two versions), Dopeman by OJ Da Juiceman and In Tha Hood by Trae. Preferably not chopped and screwed (or slowed), as I can do that myself if needed. Thanks, --Chris

Hey gusy, im about to start the box build for my sa-12 and im just looking for a little help since its going to be my first real box build. I've came up with a design, but i used the RE box calculator to do so,which i've heard isn't all the accurate, so i was just wondering if someone could check the numbers for me. Heres the dimensions- 24" wide by 14" tall by 15" deep. the port is 2" wide with a length of 16". RE says that the box is 1.72 cubes at 32.8hz with 25in of port. Anybody willing to check this for me? Thanks

Hey all.I was wondering if my port is to close to my rear hatch. My friends and I both seem to think my system should be louder and I seem to think that it might be my port being to close to my rear hatch and not having enough room to breathe. My system consists of a DC 5k and 4 10" DC lvl 3 m2 subs with the level 4 upgrades. My enclosure was made by DC Creations and is 4.5 cubes after displacments (I believe) and tuned to 33hz.Here is a pic of what im talking about with the port.I can take a better pic if need be.So what im wondering is if I flip the box around with the port facing into the cabin instead of towards the hatch, would it help out any or would a enclosure with s…

What do you guys think of this design? The huge ported section will be roughly 50 width, 36 Height, and 36 length all the way up to the back of my front seats. The sealed section in the trunk will have roughly 1.5-2 cubes per sub with the ported having over 30 cubes hopefully Give me your opinions of this design please Thanks http://img573.imageshack.us/img573/9628/boxdesign3.png http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/570/boxdesign.png http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7765/boxdesign2.png does that make sense?

  10. I want to build a sealed box behind the back seat of my 08 Dakota Crew Cab. There is VERY little space back there, to the point that to get my airspace, I need to get rid of the back wall of the box. My idea is to use some damplifier pro or spectru sludge on the cab wall to create the back wall of the enclosure. Am I on the right track? Or is there a better way to do this. This is the only location I can use, due to restrictions from my wife. Thanks Rob

What i want is the box to be smooth, without being able to see the screws so i can paint the box and have it look very smooth. I have to ways im thinking of going about this. 1- This is the one i feel as the better of the two....sink the screws a little further into the mdf and put a filler then sand it smooth or 2- After the box glue has dried take the screw out then use a filler and sand? Is there any reason for the screws to stay in the wood or can i take them back out? Thanks, Jack3d

I'm redoing my box for 3-10" (or 3-12" not sure yet). Now currently my port is down low facing the dash. The current box is a TON louder with all the windows down vs up. I know this is normal sometime, but I don't like driving around disturbing everyone with them down, lol. So I was wondering if moving the port would help or make a difference? Port up with the subs, port back towards the back wall of the truck, or try it again with the new box faceing towards the dash again? Just an idea of what it looks like at this time. You can see the "box" at the bottom. It's an "semi-external" with 8" outside & 4" inside to save some space.

So I am stuck, cannot decide what to do or which direction to even go at this point, need some assistance and I will try to make this short as to avoid the TLDR syndrome. To start off here is what I have currently in the vehicle (a 2009 Honda Fit), (2) Sundown SA 12’s wired to 1ohm on a SAZ1500D. They currently sit in a ported box that is 20”Hx31”Wx16”D, with (3) 4” aero ports 12” long, yielding a box of 4cuft net, tuned at 38Hz subs up port back. While this has been the loudest box I have built, it’s not the only one. I built another 17”x39.5”x16” with (1) 6” aero port tuned at 34Hz sub/port up, and finally another with the same dimensions however this last one was a slo…

Thanks!!

Ok I've been doing a lot of research on standard 6th order bandpass boxes, and haven't found enough information to decide if its better than standard ported for spl. If I tune a 6th order with a very narrow high output passband, such as 39hz rear and 44hz front, or in this general region, will it be louder than a ported box with a similar tuning? From what I've seen the 6th order will boost output higher, but it strains the subwoofer more and lowers power handling, so it has more output but you can put less power to it so they balance out... I want to try one out but if you guys think it wont be louder than just ported for spl use only then it's not worth trying. Also I…
