So I got this 30$ subwoofer which I bought 3 year ago and it still plays good and I like it. But the box what it has now I was told is too small and tuned very high(indeed it does not hit the lows very good). I have no information about its xmas, vas, FS ... etc. It says 900W max (maybe 150w real ) 12 inch Thunder. Model BC1250RD I want something to listen to my music till I get money for NSv2 ( rap and some bass tests... so low tuning around 34Hz). Here are some pics. My fail box. Yes I know I don't need polyfill for a ported box. Port is 4.7 inches radius , long around 5-6 inches. So help me forum. I was told by a pro I should go with 2 - 2.25 cub ft , 15 sq inch r…

Hello, At the moment, I have 2 Kenwood 12's (4 Ohms, 400rms) in separate ported enclosures that I built. It was my first time building a sub enclosure, and I don't think I did it right. I have an alpine MRP-M500 amp running at 300wrms at 4ohms. I listen to rap, and when I play a song that goes really low (Put on- jeezy for example) the lowest note is really quiet. I'm assuming its a combination of the wrong box specs and them being underpowered? I'm planning on getting a new system in a couple months, but until then, I'd like to fix my current one and in the process, I'd be getting another box build under my belt to practice for my next one. My goal is to make it louder,…

so ive been looking around for ideas how to get mach5 mli 6.5s and tweets in my doors, but the mounting depth is kicking my a$$. the magnet will hit the window when its rolled down if i put it in the stock location. im wanting to do minimal modification to my doors to keep it as stock as possible*. i saw this and figured it would be perfect for me, if it wont hurt the speaker at all. i cant think of any reason it would, but im just making sure. should i seal behind it with something, or just use some deadening on the door itself? any input would be nice, thanks! hope this works, and if it does work i hope it comes out cleaner than that one

Sorry for another question (just taking advantage of my day off). I just finished up damping my door panels, the sheet metal, framing, and plastic panels,as well as the rear hatch with eDead 120 and Damplifier Pro. Probably have used about >80 ft^3 so far. I am doing my entire roof and going to do the floor soon too but I am having trouble deciding what to do next. I keep reading very different theories about what to do, whether to use closed cell foams or open cell foams and where to use them. Some of you have recommended websites to buy different products but just need to know how much and what to buy. I have a lot of room in my doors between the interior plast…

Ok, so my front stage is composed of a pair of MLI 6.5's in the doors, and a pair of Fostex FF85k's (3" full range) in the dash. What I am wanting to discuss is windshield reflections. Where my head is normally is a slightly nasty reflection point, not sure how this relates to phasing issues, reflections, and off axis response. I noticed this awhile ago when reaching for something across my car while listening to a CD and noticing the change as I moved my head across the car. The MLI's and Fostex's are crossed over at ~400hz with the amplifiers onboard crossovers due to the fact my DCX bit the dust. The amps that are being used are a PPI 4240 and a RF 450.2 Thoughts …

Alright, I am wanting to wait till i get a new vehicle to do a wall. (Still debating). I'd like to use two fifteens in my trunk, Thinking either AudioQue HDC3's, Fi BL's, or maybe some DC Level 4 XL's. A local shop said sealing a trunk on GM cars sounds like crap; Is this true? This would be the plan for my box Would this cause an audible noise or necessarily sound bad? I know it's install dependent but how do sealed trunks like THORSHAMMER's sound?

Height = 13Inches Width = 48 Inches split in half for two seperate compartments one for each sub. Depth1 = 6.5 Inches top Depth2 = 12 Inches bottem Now I donw know much about porting or tuneing. Im running two CVX's dual 2ohm VC wired @ 2ohm load off a 1500.1 zx This long skinny box fits behind my two seats in my pickup truck with one sub behind each seat. When my cousin made the box for me he put a board in the center to seperate the two subs so they both have different compartments. I wanted to maybe port the box to get a deeper boom. But i have no clue how big to cut a port hole... VentedCompact (MinimumEnclosureVolume from the manual CVX12 1.7…

OK, so I've decided to try out a box using round ports for my 18" nightshade, so i can make the ports interchangeable for comps and daily. I'm using a Hifonics Brutus 1600d amp. i figure the box should be about 5 cubes since the amp isn't that powerful and i want to get a lot of output. i want to use 2 6" diameter pieces of PVC. i am going to do some testing to figure out where my port should be tuned at for spl, but my question is that if i want to keep the box at 5 cubes how big should i make it to make sure its still 5 cubes after the displacement of the ports? i have been looking all night trying to figure this out. i found that if my box is 5 cubes i should use 2 6" …

I am starting a new kerfed enclosure for two Pioneer ts-w3002d4 subs. I am a little unsure of how to calculate the volume of the kerfed or flared port. I have two designs so far but I am unsure of which will be the best. I am gonna do two separate boxes and attach them together. Which is better?

picked up a pair of 12" iCons and this is the box I plan to build. I was wondering what you guys think. This is the first time I have run anything other than a single 15" or a single 18" so I want ot get opinions before I build it. 4.8ft^3 net air space (5.12ft^3 gross .16ft^3 displacement per sub) tuning 32hz-33hz 72.5in^2 port area

Am trying to calculate the exact cu.ft for a wedge enclosure. I tried a few different sites and got anywhere from 5.8 - 6.0 cu.ft. Since I needed the exact size I worked it out by hand myself. Here are my dimensions and what i got. Can anyone double check this for me please? Wedge Design Outside Dimensions Height = 22" Depth 1 = 10" Depth 2 = 20" Width = 39" Formulas used: Rectangle L X W X D Triangle 0.5 (B X H X W) Since the design is basicly a rectangle and a triangle combination, thats how i calculated it. I got 4.12 cu.ft for the rectangle and 2.06 cu.ft for the triangle with a gross volume of 6.18 cu.ft. I also took into account that the 1.5"…

I'm redoing my box for 3-10" (or 3-12" not sure yet). Now currently my port is down low facing the dash. The current box is a TON louder with all the windows down vs up. I know this is normal sometime, but I don't like driving around disturbing everyone with them down, lol. So I was wondering if moving the port would help or make a difference? Port up with the subs, port back towards the back wall of the truck, or try it again with the new box faceing towards the dash again? Just an idea of what it looks like at this time. You can see the "box" at the bottom. It's an "semi-external" with 8" outside & 4" inside to save some space.

I love sound quality and its clarity. But I always end up listening to mp3's and I have heard from many places and I do believe them, that mp3's are to heavily compressed, and I want to know where I can get true audiophile grade sound tracks, of rock and techno type music??

I am looking for someone to build a enclosure for my 15" ssa xcon. It needs to be 4 cubic feet tuned to 29hz, i'd like a flared slot port, in a standard rectangular enclosure with dark charcoal carpet, with a rectangular 10" window on the top showing off the insides (which means the insides need to look nice to enough to show off), so what would this run??? any offers? Also to add I would like it to only be 16" in height and no more than 35" in width, and I would like it if you could let me know what the end result on the depth would be?

Am trying to figure out the port area for round ports in my design. Am going to build an enclosure that is 4 cu.ft. after all displacement turned to 30Hz for a 15" Fi Q. I know that for a slot port, that its length X width to calculate port area (i.e 14 X 4 = 56 sq.in. of port). I also know that for a round port, that its Phi X radius sq. to calculate port area (i.e 3.142X4 for a 4" pipe = 12.568 sq.in of port). This is what am not understanding is, to get the needed port area for using 4" port in a 4 cu.ft. enclosure, you would need about 4 or 5 of them, or am i just full speed down the wrong side of the track? I was going to use a slot port but decided that it would ea…

I am designing an enclosure for a Sundown Audio Z-15 (D4 wired to 2 ohms on a Sundown Audio SAZ-2000D), it will be a daily driver. I listen to a lot of chopped and screwed, r&b, old school and rap so I decided to stick with 31Hz. This may be a temporary box or a full time box depending on how it and the sub treat me. I havent build a box since August of 2008 so its been a while, my max dimensions are 16.5"H x 34"W x 21"D. Jacob told me I can make the enclosure as big as 4ft^3 and tuning anywhere from 30-35Hz and 28Hz if I wanna go lower. So right now Im sitting with a box at 3.85ft^3 @ 31hz with 60 in^2 of port area (port area range = 46-62in^2). Made of 3/4" mdf, sta…

So... me and my dad are in the process of rebuilding a 1970 vw bug, and of course... i plan on putting a system into it. the main problem will be with the placement of the subwoofers, bugs are tiny vehicals with almost no extra space. we would prefer to keep a backseat but would be willing to give it up if need be. So does anyone have any ideas for a good subwoofer and somewhere to put it. money shouldnt be too much of an issue but it must be within reason... Im going for SQ but would still like it to get hella loud. i was thinking maybe 2 10in Fi SSds in a sealed box... any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. My next question isnt really fabrication but while im…
