So im making a thread that may help people in the future on different enclosures for different applications. So what are the physical differences in an spl enclosure compared to a daily driver enclosure or sq enclosure? What separates the two into different catagories? for example does a box that is bigger and tuned high make it a spl enclosure or vise versa? Thanks in advance for your expertize.

What has been your favorite show you have attended, not necessarily competed in? I would say the best show (besides SBN) would be the first show at Ft. Drum, NY back in July of '00. It was a smaller IASCA show hosted by Terry Floyd. There were maybe 25 or so SPL cars and about 10 or so SQ cars. I met a lot of people at that show that wound up being good friends. Highlights from the show. I had the high SPL for the day at 151.0 I caught my car on fire! 2 of my other buddy;s got 1st in their respected SQ classes Here is a buddy's truck that won one of the pro classes. He went on to IASCA Finals that year. Real sweet truck.

I have 4 Sundown Sa-8 V2s that I am thinking about putting in a 4th order box and I have a few questions about how to design it. 1. Do I use the manufacturer's specs for the sealed part? 2. What is the best ported to sealed ratio for a box that I would like to have an output of 20s+ hz? 3. Would tuning the ported area to 45 hz give me the best range in frequency response? (Maybe 20s-60s or so)

im trying to design a box for 4 sa-12's and i want to make sure its not too big. its 8.5 cubes after all displacements with 108 sq inches of port area. ill be powering the subs with an AQ2200D so each sub will see roughly 550 watts, which is why i made the box slightly bigger then normal, i just wanted to know if you guys think this sounds ok. ohh and it will be tuned to 32hz

so i did a quick little search, but i am a bit slow and tired and i didn't find anything. i haven't built a box before, nor helped anyone build one.. but i've pretty much decided for my first box to tune it at 32hz, and on the Fi section of the forums they recomend "1.8-2.5 cubic feet".. what does each mean, like how do i know what i prefer. basically waht i'm asking is when the box is smaller, what does that mean? tighter bass? higher notes (roughly)? what. and then it recommends 32hz, so i'm going with that.. but how do i tune it to 32hz? i don't understand how to tune it using the box. or is it a setting on the amp/sub. if you couldn't tell i've never done this before,…

What is the specs to make this port tuned at 30hz-35hz L ( ) W ( ) H ( ) I know my installer will know, but I just want to find out for myself. Oh yeah could you also let me know how you got your answer I want to learn as I go.

Does anyone know any online dealers that build fiberglass boxes anymore for a decent price? I emailed Fisher Audio but they no longer make FG ones. I would do it locally but they charge an arm and a leg for them.

I would love to use PR for car audio application. Before I start designing the system I have a couple questions. 1. Will the automobile environment be too abusive for PRs? With a vehicle in motion, going over bumps and accelerating/deaccelerating, cause the PR's cone to move affecting performance? 2. I have read that downward firing a PR will cause the diaphragm to be displaced downward. If the PR is mounted cone up will the cause a similiar situation (diaphram sinks towards spiders)? In my current vehicle the only way I can use PRs is with cones pointed upward.

Its been a while since ive been on here... but i need some help... I'm building an enclosure for my new car (02' focus ZTS) which will house 4 10" woofers firing towards the rear of the car at a slight angle with the deck lid.. (ie 35-45*) question one... is this going to cause a lot of cancelation? question two... i want to build a seperate air chamber to fit the spare tire well... and connect the two chambers to increase my overall air space... will doing that actually do anything for my airspace considering for now... the box is sealed? thanks for any help -AcId-

Hey guys, I know iv posted so many topics about my box but its time for another one. I WAS going rebuild my box for my 18" BTL N2, and make it closer to 7.5 cuft net. Iv been thinking about future upgrades though, and im thinking in the end of it all ill be powering my BTL off of two AB VFL 100.1's strapped (3000wrms). Now with that much power to my subwoofer, would 7.5cuft be a little too big? Iv been talking to one or two people about it and they said it might be a better idea to keep it around 5.5-6 cuft with that much power running to it.

I am putting together a box for a single 12" xcon. It will net 2.7 ft^3 and be tuned to 30hz. My question is: how much difference will lining the inside of the box with resin make? Is it worth the extra time and money? This is a daily setup, I do not compete. Will my ears b able to tell the difference?

i have i box that i need to find out what it's volume is and what it is tuned at. it is made of 3/4" mdf and has a double baffle. outside dimensions are: H 23 1/4" W 20" D 45" inside port dimensions are: H 5" W 18 1/2" D this i am not sure which measurement i need if i measure from the face of the port to the back wall it is 44 1/4" deep if i am to measure the length of the wall which divides the box to form the port it is 38 3/4" deep there is a 45% in the back of the port. thanks in advance for the help. would like to learn how to do these calculations also. perhaps if some one had the extra time i would love to see it drafted up into…

Ok so speaking purely visually, i understand a basic motor and the LMT but XBL^2 i've never seen a good pic of, what exactly is it and how does it differ? what pics i have seen, i can't tell the difference from a normal motor. Now, someone explain in some more depth for me, or point me to a good link, the way the magnetic force helps hurts the voice coil movement. I'm not understanding why a lateral force is necessarily a good thing. Next, why is the cone concave instead of convex? Has anyone ever experimented with flipping the cone over? What affects would this have on the frequency? Obviously i'm procrastinating studying and my mind needs anything else to think abou…
