ok so i got a 4runner and im running 1000 watts for a skar vvx-10 that should be here in couple days. Howevers i built a box at 1.25 tuned to 30 hertz and too me it seems like a big box just for a single 10, so the question i ask is the box to big or not tune right for my 4runner thanks

What is the minimum number of yellowtops needed to run a Sundown 3000d? I've still got the stock alternator in the Frontier and want to see what I can do. BTW the Opti 50C is up for sale.

I am designing a custom box I want tuned at 32 hz and I am not sure if I am using these online calculators correctly. I enter my box volume and height and width of the port and it gives me the length i need to make it... my question is what is my box volume? It is with or without the port??? My box is all completly designed and ready except for the port length because I am not sure how to get my desired frequency. Here is my current box. Height= 15 inches Width= 17 inches Depth= 20 inches (I might lower depending on how much I need for port) Port height = 13.5 inches Port width = 2 inches if this enclosure was SEALED, its total volume = 2.24 cubic feet, i was aiming more …

  5. I need advice with my current and future setups. Please anyone with lanzar opti1535d experience, please speak up! I currenly have it in a 4.35 cube net Atrend 15lsv enclosure tuned to 36 hz with 48.5 sq in of port area. Its in my ext cab sonoma sub firing up behind drivers seat and port firing to the driver side at the base of the b pillar. Its powered by a Lanzar HTG2600d at 0.6 ohm. Here is the odd part. It metered a 139.9 at 44 hz and when I inverted the sub so the basket/motor was exposed, I then metered a 141.2 at 44 hz. For some reason I was thinking when I metered again I hit a 142.1 but that's likely just wishful thinking. Apart from the airspace change from inve…

I'm afraid of my port being too long.i am by no means an expert but here is what I got... 1 team fi 18v2- 1 scv 4000 a couple of extra battery's 130 amp alt stock "mechman 270 soon" big 3-dual runs of 0 through out my box whic isnt built yet is 24t-24d-44w with a slot port 22.5x6" I'm wanting to tune to 28 for lows. I want it to be fairly loud but it's no big deal if it isn't I just don't want a boomy box tuned to 40 lol. Any way with a tuning of 28 and that size box I figured around 12 cubes before port-and with the port being 46 or so inches long I'll land near 8cubes after port. which puts me near 28 hearts or so... problem is with a port that long will I run into reso…

So, i want to build a custom box for a Range Rover classic, LWB Box is for two 12" Alpine Type R's. I want the subs facing towards the roof and the port facing the rear of the vehicle, the "classic" SUV style. Although, the truck comes with a stock cover over the very rear, i want the box to be underneath that, so when i park i can cover the stuff up and keep people from wondering around the car. What wood should be used? Also, any special tricks with making boxes? I will provide picks tomorrow if needed.

ok heres the deal. i my box is sub and port same direction as of now i have them firing port up sub up. and there is around 4 inchs space before the trunk lid, and i am scoring a 148. i think i maybe able to squeeze the box in sub back port back.. but i will only have 2 or 3 inchs between the subs and port and wall of my trunk. if i change it up now.. and lose my score then im fucked for this weekend. i have talked with another town car SPL guy. and he stated, in all his testing center port back. he lost 3 DB. from having port on one side, and lost .5 db's on the dash (meca) with sub up port up i guess my short question is.. and at this point its just a g…

I have a soundstream tarantula tr880/2 amp(880rms) and now a soundstream splx 12" 750rms. I have 4 ga amp wires and 10 ga speaker wire, all on a alpine headunit. trunk is dynamated. I just got this sub off ebay after selling my jbl 15wgti. I didnt have much space and I figured I could get a 12" to pound as hard as a 15" I've saw guys at comps do it. But with this soundstream sub I'm not impressed. It came with a cheap particle board 2.3 ft. air space ported box, I plan on getting a nice box. the 15" hit a lot harder then the 12 in just as crappy a box. If anyone out there can give me some pointers on how to get this 12 to sound like a 15 please let me know. let me know if…

So I have a 2007 silverado crew cab and want to put 1 12" Fi BL with all the upgrades and a sundown 1200d in there. My deminsions for what I have room for are 55"long x 15"deep x 4.5" tall at the back and 8" at the front of the seat to the floor. In the middle its 6.5" Im going to probably lift the seat about 1/2" as thats how much thread I have to work with and theres no seat raising brackets yet for my truck. Im looking to do the 12" in a downfire ported box Can someone tell me if this would work or not? My sub would be 6.5" deep and my depth of the box is Im thinking going to be right about that.

Im gonna be getting my 15" custom juggernaut back from PSI soon and i was gonna build a reg ported box 4.5 cu 35 hz first, but i am kinda dabbling with the idea of a 4th order. ive tried looking up some info but so far i just have spent alot of time and still dont know that much about them. any opinions, advice or tips is appreciated. im mostly looking to figure out what the method is on figuring out how many cubes you need inside the sealed area, and how much you need in the ported area and what you port it to, and why you port it at that hz. im planning on building multiple boxes for this sub to figure out what i like best

I'm looking to build a nice ported box for my L7 and make it loud. Problem is I really don't know much about ported boxes or the tricks to making a good SPL box. Kicker reccomends between 1.75 and 3.25 cu ft ported, but no tuning frequencys. The box will be sitting in the back seat of my 1990 extended cab Silverado. What would be differences between a round port and slot port, and what would be an optimal Frequency to tune it at. thanks for any advice, hopefully I can pull my ol' truck into s comp and put up some decent numbers

I've got a 91' honda prelude, and I'm going to try and use as much of the trunk as possible for a pair of 12's, rather Fi BLs or Fi Qs. I'm thinking of firing the woofers up at the trunk lid or against the back of the trunk, and having the port vent through the trunk opening into the cabin of the car. I've heard how horrible sealed boxes sound if pointed through the trunk into the cabin, I'm just curious if the port would create such a horrible effect. I'm building the box to pretty much use all of the little space I have, so there is nowhere else for the port to be free of obstruction. What do you guys think?

  20. Ok I have a few questions about the closure that I am designing. First is this a slot port design? Second do i need to throw some bracing in the inclosure or is it good as is? Third Have used various calculators to calculate port size for tuning is this correct? The box I have designed is 20"L x 48"W x 15"H puting the box at 5.3 without bracing. The subs will be facing the rear door and the port will be facing up on the back wall. Port will be 4"H x 20"W x 22.21"L. The port Vol is 1776.8 the port area is 80" square. Any and all help with this will be great Vehicle : 1999 Chevy Tahoe Location in the vehicle: Rear Space available (Length x Width x Height): (x)…

That was the 1st box i ever made on that other thread, lol, i dont think i ever tried it out, hmm. but here are the real pics The port looks extra small if you ask me.But its sposed to be 32hz Now i'm not sure if i want to add in this extra piece right here are not, if i do i have to cut it at an angle because the subs depth is more than my ports length Ply wood Did that even look like an 18in hole to u guys, ahh come on now Oh and does this need bracing of coarse

I am ready to build a sealed box for my single ss rl-p 18, but im not sure which way to face the sub. i have plenty of room on all side. My car is a lincoln towncar if that helps. Also, should i go with the recomended box size of 4 cubes? And one more question, should i only double baffle the front, or should i double baffle everything? Thanks

I am almost done putting together the box, and someone pointed out that the opening looks a smaller than the other opening. I went out and measured it and realized that I made it 20.5 width from side to side of the port, and 22 length. It was supposed to be the other way around tuned at 33hz. Will this mess it up too much? Is there anything I can do to fix it? What would the tuning be at? Will this lower or higher the tuning? will it mess with the sound too much? I knew I fudgeed it up... I'm so pissed Btw, The length is of the top of the port. If you need, the sides go back 25.5, and height of 5.75
