Hey fellas. What's going on? Alright, heres the deal. I picked up another CVR, so I am now in the process of deciding what I want to do with the new box for the 2 CVRs. This setup is going to be a pure daily driver, no competing or anything. I listen to all rap or hip-hop. Now, I emailed Kicker and asked what they thought the best daily driver box would be and they sent me some specs that ended up being tuned to around 40 hz. I thought 40 hz is pretty high for daily driver tuning. I PM'd Polecat and he said that 40 hz would be good and that I wouldn't lose much low end and that it would get loud and sound musically good. My current box for my single CVR is 34 hz and I am …

  2. There are 2 drivers in each side wall that would acoustically, i assume, act as port length. So, if that's true, does leaving just the opening in the back act as length of the side walls which is ~25" long? also, i've never had the time to question these types of designs but does anyone have anything negative to say about drivers in the side wall like that? I've seen pretty much all different kinds of setups throughout the years and this particular one is not new either. I just don't understand what actually is going on when the front wave of these side wall drivers interacts with the port(2nd question).

So after taking a bed apart a few days ago i discovered the mass use of MDF used in the bed's structure. Now if i wanna build a box for my 18" btl, people always say use 1/2" MDF. How important is that 1/2" ? Why does it need to be that thick? For structural/support reasons? the MDF from the bed is 3/8" and i'm going to go buy the 1/2" just because everyone on here says to do it and i trust them, i was just curious. I have like...50 square feet of the stuff.

so i did a quick little search, but i am a bit slow and tired and i didn't find anything. i haven't built a box before, nor helped anyone build one.. but i've pretty much decided for my first box to tune it at 32hz, and on the Fi section of the forums they recomend "1.8-2.5 cubic feet".. what does each mean, like how do i know what i prefer. basically waht i'm asking is when the box is smaller, what does that mean? tighter bass? higher notes (roughly)? what. and then it recommends 32hz, so i'm going with that.. but how do i tune it to 32hz? i don't understand how to tune it using the box. or is it a setting on the amp/sub. if you couldn't tell i've never done this before,…

looking to buy a saw blade for my circular saw to cut my MDF. i was going to have lowes cut it, but i can't quit worrying that they will mess it up so im going to do it myself. i have been told to get at least a 40 tooth carbide tip blade....i am only going to use this thing once so i dont want to put a lot of money into it. i was thinking getting a higher tooth count blade, just not carbide tipped. i was thinking like a 120/150 tooth blade....would that work well? is the carbide tipped that big of a deal?

Would two 6" aero ports be too much for 1 - 15" Xcon? In June I'm looking to fix suspension AND put the bump back in the Camry... Porting it and sealing it from the trunk is the plan ... bow would be about 3.9 cubes with two 6" ports tuned around 33hz.... will be lower power for a while (500w) and later on thinking of going to something better...

so my friend tried to paint the box he made for his girlfriends jeep black, but where the screws are its all messed up, and the paint is dark and light in some places and fades alot and doesnt look that appealing all together, i figure i could just use woodfiller for the spots for the screws and sand it down flat, but what about getting all the paint even and pretty? need to make one for a guy i know and he wants it painted so anything will help, thanks

I discovered this on a Honda forum that someone had posted, the description of the box are in the web browsers little tag (this is how it is using firefox). They range from 1-2 subs, and 2 cf all the way to 4/5 cf. The tuning is a little high on a few of them from 35-37 hz, but theres some lower. I think this may help a few out, Sub Box Diagrams

I have a couple measurements... 41w x 34d x 34h That's the external (gross) measurements. I plan on tuning it around 30hz. I was also wondering where to put the port. This will be my semi daily driver (I have 2 vehicles), and I am not looking to hit any high numbers. I want this thing to get loud and low. Also any kind of tips/pictures/diagrams/explanations/ect. for a wall and dancefloor would be greatly appreciated. 19. I know I've seen plenty of people use spray/roll on bed linings for the outside of their enclosures and such. I am wondering two things though, was it applied to the bare MDF or with a primer on the MDF first and how well is it holding up after "x" amount of time? I'm about to start on the enclosure and amp rack for my Jimmy. I had planned to paint the port to match the truck and use standard charcoal colored cabinet carpet to cover the box and amp rack with. Though upon thinking about possible liquid damage to the MDF on the floor/amp rack I'll be building I thought perhaps the liquid bed liner may be the better route. I have no experience with it though so I was ho…

  20. Okay so I went to Home Depot to get some MDF, Glue, & Screws. So I see the 3/4" MDF and grab a sheet. Then I get home, take it off the truck and find out it's 5/8" instead. Would it be okay to use 5/8" instead of 3/4"? Its going to be for a Single Cab, Downfiring Enclosure, With a Double Baffle. Sub will be AQ HDC3 12"

  22. Hi all, I have 2 boxes that ive built and i am in the process of testing. ->build log here<- they both have the same interior volume and tuning and all that good stuff. so the internal volume is about 2.45 cuft with a tuning of ~34 hz with about 40 sq inches of port each. now i had a box that was 2.5 cu ft tuned to 34 hz with 39 sq inches of port and didnt get much overexcursion. so heres my problem. on low notes like 28-34 hz the sub barely moves and creates ALOT of sound, im very shocked by this. but when you get to like 36-40 hz the sub reaches its limits of excursion and anything above 40 its just bottom out city! im very scared about this because in the o…

Hey guys, I am gonna start a few projects and try and glass a few things, I want to put 2 8's on my rear deck and something upfront to put the tweets on the dash. I can't put them in the A-Pillars so I was going to put them in the corners of the dash and I want them to look clean. I was wondering what kind of resin and bonding agent? I think you mix the resin and something else before you put it on the fabric, I read about it a while ago and I will go over it again because I don't remember much. Just thought some of you guys would have some tips on how to do this... I've got some pretty good ideas to actually design it but I will touch back to see if it is plausible... …

I am currently waiting on my 1st xcon and want to run 2 eventually but don't know if I can. I can slide a 31W x 12 3/4H x 29D through the rear seat opening. That is about the max size i can do through the seat opening i could go an extra half inch in the sides and maybe an inch on height but would be tight squeeze. Also i want ported if possible. Thanks for any help.

  25. Started by Tony Nelson,

Hey guys, I have been modeling different alignments for my Dayton RSS265-4 HO woofers. I like the look of 1.2-1.4 cu.ft after displacement for both of the tens, tuned around 30 hz. My question to you guys is how much port area I should shoot for? Would two 3" aeros be adequate? According to the modeling program, I would exceed 25m/s vent velocity using 2 3" aeros, but not by much. This install isn't meant to shatter spl records and each woofer will probably never see more than 300 watts, so taking this into account I don't really think I need such large port area. Looking for suggestions, Thanks
