hey guys i'm going to try a different stlye port than my slot port that ive always done and i'm wondering if anyone knows where to find some aero ports and whitch would sound better 2 6" ports or 3 4" ? its going to be for my 12" btl d2 daily. on my saz2000d amp box will be 2.5ft3 i'm looking for a low bass my current box is 32-33hz but my port area is too big and the sub tends to bottom out at high volume. and does anyone have any views if it would make a bigger difference going to a 30hz tuning ?

Well, i didnt think this was going to end up happening but i actually saw an Fi BTL N2 18" For $400 in my city. I was previously going to get a 15" Fi Q or BL which was going to cost me $400 shipped anyways so i cant give up this opportunity. Now in the quest for less trunk rattle, i wanted to fire my subwoofers forward into the cabin, BUT i dont have foldable seats. OhJay gave me a good idea. Use external aeroports that go through the rear deck where the 6x9 speakers go. I thought it was a great idea, something a bit different. Now i was wondering if any of you could make it happen. Iv got probably 19 inches maximum of height, probably about 40 inches of width. I…

currently running a huge box with a fi q18 takes up the entire back seat of my truck. i love the output for the power i have and the low tuning, but it needs to come out for a carseat. i have a pair of tangband w8-740p's, single 4ohm 150wrms 8's. im thinking about building a box 1.75cu tuned to 39hz with 26.25sq of port , trying to get the most output possible. not sure how to design the box was thinking about trying a loaded horn thing like thumpper did with the icons. anyone with exsperience with these speakers or small truck boxes any imput of how i can get the most out of these 8's would be great. vehicle is 99 dakota x-cab.

looking to do a new box and wanting to know what yall think the best kind of box i sould do if im wanting to seal off my trunk, i have 1 15" zcon on 3000 watts, i was thinking of doing a bandpass where the subs sealed part of the box is where i open the trunk and ported through where my back seats fold down, any questions? sugestions? im wanting to do this because my box now is ported back and sub back and my trunk pretty much opens with the bass and can feel mass air coming out so i know i can get way louder if i seal my trunk off

Ok i have always used areo ports and now i want to try a slot. I have used a few calculators and they tell me my length needs to be 23in long for the tune i want what length are they referring to? Overall length of the port ? Can some one please help lol I am looking to build a 5cube box for 4 sa 10s tuned to 35-36 htz I figured with the displacement of the subs and port i woul need a gross volume of 5.8cubes that would bring the net volume down to 5-5.1 right ? So far i have gotten the measurements from the calculator width-45in heigth-20in depth-14in. This box is going in a quad cab ram so i have space. Am i right with these measurements? and i am shooting for a mix of …

I like to think up things i haven't never seen done so let's get some opinions in here because i wanna see what people think how this would work - I don't feel like drawing a pic so i'm going to rely on your visualizations to see this box in your head. Let's take a 12" sub. Let's put it in a ported box at 2.5 cuft. Tuning... thats the interesting part. Ok, so build a box with 5 walls, not 6, 5. Leave the rear wall completely off. Now, let's say for quick number crunching, the box is as follows - (all external) 16" wide x 16" tall x 16" deep with no rear wall. Now, let's build another box with no sub cut out, again with 5 walls, not 6. Dimensions for this box is as foll…

Alright well I finally have a new box design for my level 5 15". I just need some help with those of you who have built boxes in very tight situations. I have about an inch on the left and right side to spare and a few inches on top. I cannot build it outside and then toss the box in because my trunk space is too small. Rotating it will be difficult as well.. I have read on here people doing very big boxes in small areas inside their car. Pictures will be posted soon in my build log as well!

I need some of you guys to make sure my calculations are good and that this box will work out. This is the first box I have designed to be as critical as needed. I am wanting to try a subs back and port into the cabin approach. This should work out to 6.75 Cu Ft after port displacement and after the 15 " BL's it should have 6.39 Cu Ft at about 32 hz. I am wanting to try to make it bigger and get maybe close to 4 cubes per sub. I have about 7 or 8 more inches to work with to make it a little bigger. But I figured I would make sure I am doing this correct before I go and design another one.

NOPE....>>>>>>>> This is the box I want to build... but when I put the specs into the BCAE1 site... it tells me to build a 1.3" port... what am I doing wrong here with this program????????? Height? =15 Inches Width? = 39.5 Inches Depth1? =26.5 Inches Depth2? = 26.5 Inches If the above dimensions are OUTSIDE dimensio…

  15. Hello all, am quite new to this forum and have been around caraudio for a little while but still have a lot to learn especially as I haven't been as passionate as most seem to be here Anyway I have this old car in good shape that I am using to drive to work at the coal mine and have put a stereo into it although most needs to be reinstalled as it is just temporary. I have a 15" RL-p Soundsplinter sub on an SAZ 1500D amp and an alpine HU and some Hertz 165 high power components running on a 400W MA Audio amp I had laying around. The Sub is in a ported enclosure I built a while back for the 08 Charger I had but never put the sub into...... problem is the enclosure is too …

2 12" type r's at 1000wrms 1ohm ported. I'm upset with my box, it kinda sucks. The port wall isn't tall enough, and it's a little too big. I want aeroports for some reason, they've always caught my attention. I've also heard they sound better. Max dimensions are 14.5" height 26" length 37" width all external. I want the subs firing up and the ports going back. This box will be in the back of a '93 Range Rover Classic LWB. I can get pictures of the inside if needed. All daily use. Just need the box design, and cut sizes.

Alright guys here it goes... Trial 2! for my woofer box.... My current design is 31.5w, 22d and 16.5t. I don't remember the wood thickness but I found a scratch paper and I only made my box 3.5cuFt... Which is the smallest they recommend for a level 5 15". Why I did that? I have no bloody idea.... Anyway I re measured and I can add a little more to the box -- roughly 2.25 inches on top, and 7.5 inches on width. I would like to try and reduce the dept the most I can because as of right now I cannot fit more than one battery back there. I would like to be able to lay my amp down nice and neat and have the bat next to it. I will be trying to design my own again but I woul…

Hi, A friend of mine who owns an Xcon15 has just built a new box for its baby monster sub. The old one was 3.5 cu ft at 32 Hz, and the new one is 3.7 cu ft at 32 Hz too. Not much more volume, the double baffle upside took quite a bit of what we expected. The new box has a kerf slot port : it's really beautiful, and was easy to do wit the design provided by Dylan. First try : got it !!! I will post pics tomorrow. Just wanted to say that the sound is different now. Don't know how to say it but it gives more low notes. We did not expect so much change!! And we love it!!! The owner had a processor(or active filter, I don't know exactly), he took it off. He turned the bass boo…

  20. currently i have a 2.5cuft box tuned around 33hz with a 1300.1 percision power amp running at 1 ohm. i have just installed a pair of polk components in the front with a powerbass 2ch giving each side about 100rms. so now the sub isnt the main part of my system like it was before when i only had 30rms to the front doors that would get un audible when the sub hit. the idea for the new box is about 4cuft tuned around 28hz or so. my biggest question is how big should my port be? what are the advantages of 12" vs 16" per cube? would 12" be more snappy vs a 16" which would move more air? currently the box is directly behind the drivers seat with the sub and port facing the dr…

Im BACK! After being gone for a while traveling the world I have come back to my fellow members / friends / people / dudes / dudettes and folks on the good 'ol ssa forums (good job Mark). I am starting a rebuild once again. I literally blew my old box apart so its time to go bigger, badder and more bracing! I noticed a huge improvement from my 3.5cuFt box to my 4.25cuFt box. I hope to do the same when I hit a 4.75 ish box. I am installing into this box a single DC 15" woofer being powered by a 3500D. Here is what my plan is: BOX: Height: 17.5in Width: 38in Depth: 18.5 CuFt: 5.083 Square Port Volume Internal: 1134 Square Port Volume Displacement: 1144.125 Tuning Freque…

Okay got 4 Old ass but brand new in box, pioneer SVC 150 RMS TW-W33C subs from the local shop, for 100 bones. I figured it'd be a good start for 4 12's to mess around with. Well i built a Box the size of the Explorer XLT's cargo area. So thats 30" Deep, 40" wide, and 16" tall. (exterior demensions). Anyways made a port thats like 3" wide (give or take), and about 5" deep. Well what did I tune this thing to?? I have no theile small parameters, for the subs so it was just a shot in the dark for this project. Its almost as good as my 2 Vipers in 47hz boxes made for DD's. Anways this setup is prolly going soon. I am trying to get jcc's 4 Vega Vega 12's to put back there next.…

Time for a new box and im gonna need alittle help. Not really good at box design so thats where yall come in handy. I have two of the new 15" BTLs and i know the box from my x-cons are holding me back at this point. Im figuring i wanna go with 8-9cuft tuned to 34 or 35hz. Port area is whatever it needs to be for a good mix of daily and spl. Im assuming 100-125 for port area will do the trick. Needless to say if you can design me a box and the cut sheets id much appreciate it.
