  2. I have never built a box for a sub before, and now I am going to be building one for a 8" Kicker L7. This is going to be put into a Jeep TJ, so it does NOT have much trunk space at all. I am not too worried about the size of the box, because I can dimension it to the size of the trunk myself. What I am worried about and have no clue is how to make the port inside the box. I need to know how much space I need in the port to get the most air. Although it is an 8", I want it to perform the best it can through the box. I am looking on Kicker's website and these are the dimensions it says: Mounting Depth (IN.,CM) 4-3/4, 12.1 Mounting Cutout, Square (IN.,CM) 7-1/4, 18.4 Min Re…

I am building a wall and still need to seal it off on the sides and wherever there is space in between the box and the car walls. Is there a cheaper more efficient method besides spray foam? I am asking this because I am going to need about 20 cans of spray foam, if not more. I have also heard that spray foam is hard to work with. If there is something that is about the same price but is easier to work with please let me know. Thanks!!!!

Box should net 1.5 cubes, i was told to tune around 33 hz so i am in between sq and spl, im not looking to compete or anything, its an underseat box in my silverado (3 inch seat lift to gain space). I was told already here that best to face the port towards the rear pass door. My problem with that is that i have a maximum of 6x3 for port area there. Which is bare minimum for port area going by the "general rule of thumb" of 12-16 per cube, but ive read thats a load of junk. I tried winisd, it gave me a ridiculous port area. Im not sure what i did wrong but it came out over 100 sq inches. I did online calculators and got anywhere between 20 and 40 sq inches. So first off, …

  6. Alright. Here is what I have to work with. The box will be for a 12" ICON. I want it ported to play low and deep. As you can see from the picture, the only dimensions I have play on are X and Y. I know nothing about round ports so help me out here. The ports coming out the top will be placed directly beneath my open 6x8 reardeck holes.

I am in the process of building my car and I am wanting to do something different. I started out with 3 solox 12's but traded them for 2 solox 18's. I have 4 crunch Gp3000d's to use but I only have 18 cubes total to use. So i thought of using only one solox 18 with 2 GP's in a 4th or 6th order bandpass enclosure. This is for daily and maybe a once in a while bass race/street beat run. Would it be better to run 2 18's ported or one in a bandpass? If a bandpass how big sealed and ported.

I am designing a custom box I want tuned at 32 hz and I am not sure if I am using these online calculators correctly. I enter my box volume and height and width of the port and it gives me the length i need to make it... my question is what is my box volume? It is with or without the port??? My box is all completly designed and ready except for the port length because I am not sure how to get my desired frequency. Here is my current box. Height= 15 inches Width= 17 inches Depth= 20 inches (I might lower depending on how much I need for port) Port height = 13.5 inches Port width = 2 inches if this enclosure was SEALED, its total volume = 2.24 cubic feet, i was aiming more …

Wassup guys, I just got in my possession 2 18 inch Aq hdc3's bnib. I will be walling my truck and my deminsions I came up with are 51'' width 38'' height 24'' deep. With 1.5in thick walls, I get 20.4 cubes. I gave my self alittle wiggle room for the height and width. I will be tuning to 36 hz with a 9x38 port that is 20.5 in long. It will be braced and before bracing will come out to about 8.2-8.4 per sub, that is after port displacement. If anyone could run those specs I would greatly appreciate it. This will be going into a 2000 gmc Sierra ext cab. They will be powered by 2 crescendo bc2000ds at 4ohm strapped daily then 1 ohm strapped for comps I'm looking fo…

  12. Hope this image works. Its a very rough sketch of what I'm planning. It's roughly 2.5 cu. ft after port and before sub volume is removed. Subs firing down, port forward. This is roughly the outside dimensions I have to work with and am open to other sub/port configurations if they make sense. Subs will likely be SA-10s or maybe Gcon 10s. Torres calculator showed 32 hz tuning frequency, but I'm confused why it asks for a port diameter and port dimensions for a slot port?? Any opinions?

its going in my 92 civic 4 door in the rear seat area i was thinking sub up port up...but curious to see what sub up port forward would be. only reason to go in that area is because we could barely get a 5 cube box in the trunk without beating some stuff in box is gonna be 6 cubes at 36hz anyone have an experience in a setup like this one? im not sure if its exactly legal in most comps because the box itself is gonna be over the window line unless they would consider it a wall?

hey guys i'm going to try a different stlye port than my slot port that ive always done and i'm wondering if anyone knows where to find some aero ports and whitch would sound better 2 6" ports or 3 4" ? its going to be for my 12" btl d2 daily. on my saz2000d amp box will be 2.5ft3 i'm looking for a low bass my current box is 32-33hz but my port area is too big and the sub tends to bottom out at high volume. and does anyone have any views if it would make a bigger difference going to a 30hz tuning ?

  16. In my progression to finish my build, some of my amps may require amp inserts for dual cables per input. Now, i have the tools here to make it, that's easy. The thing i do NOT like about these inserts is how they are secured in the amp.. just by the little set screw on the amp.. For holding a solid piece, i fear the insert can "turn" eventually and i don't like that. Instead, i thought about purchasing a Metric tap and die set to tap the power and ground inserts on the amps. There appears to be enough metal in there to do so easily. I do not know 100% what size tap i need but i got some micrometers here to find out but the question is this- If i tap the amp and die the i…

My buddy had talked to me about building a box for his F-150 for 2 12" Xplods. Looking around I think it may be possibly to get 5 Cuft. (or very close) for the 2 12s. behind the seat I was curious what is the best way to face the ports and sub. I think the only way to face the the ports is up, but I do have the option of either down facing them down or foward. What is generally best practices for SPL?

  22. any1 familar w/ my make/model please help. I already have tons of flex in the frame all around the sunroof but esp. the front part of it, I am about to be installing more then double the power + batts + 0 gauge so I am concerned. I def. cant even listen to the music up with the sunroof open, hell I can't even open up the sun shade on it when the system is on blast w/out fearing a glass shower, so I have no problem doing something extreme to fix this problem or at least help with it. If shizzzon reads this I am very interested what you did or are planning to do with your scions sunroof. Thanks in advance for any suggestios or thoughts on this. - anyone who has any advice…

Okay, Im not much of a box-builder. Nor do I know any of the concepts to box-building. I was wondering for my MAW-15's, Which I'm putting in a 4.0 ^3cu. ft. box sealed, When I get the box built does it need to be two independent chambers with 2 cu ft on each side or 1 big 4 cu ft. box. I wasn't sure what if that had an effect on the subs and/or their performance. Thanks in advance. ~MadroX

I tried to search for this, but couldn't find what I'm looking for.. I drive an '06 KIA Spectra. I'm having good luck with a Rockford P3 dual 2 15" in a slot ported enclosure, tuned to about 32HZ. I'm running that with a Cadence ZRS7000D. I understand the machanics behind sealing off the trunk, but I've never listened to sealed off trunk car. I'm wondering if they are purely for muscle, or can they be musical? Is it worth putting in the effort if I don't drive around with my seat folded down?? My poor trunk can't handle the pressure!
