Hey fellas, After being away for a while from the car audio scene, a friends prototype actually grabbed my attention and I decided to get one. The only downside to this is it is super long (around 17 inches). If any of you guys remember CoDrive, then you know pretty much about this sub. For those of you who do not, it is a double motor, double vc design for one sub. It uses 10" spiders, custom machined sundown motors for 8 layer flat wound 3" voicecoils. This beast will have a good amount of excursion and kill the lows. With that said, it will weigh in at about 100lbs (doh). I was looking at designs, messing around with some myself, playing with bbp (that thing doesn't l…

I was wondering what the consequences of running 16v in a daily driver car would be. I know the car is designed for 12v, so it probably wouldn't like it. I was just wondering if it would cause damage to the car's electrical components. <--I like that smilie

This is my first go at trying to design a ported box so just want to make sure I got the numbers right. This is for a coworker. The sub is a DD 9515. According to their site it should be 3 cu with 48"^2 of port. Here's what I came up with: 24" x 22" x 15" and the port 3 9/16" x 13 1/2". If I follow the "rules" and make it 20" long it'll be 38ish tune. I appreciate any input you can give. 15" height is to keep it under the window line and cannot be modified. Other than that any suggestions welcome!

Im getting two Mach5 MAW-15's and I noticed that the qts was .32 I think. So I guess I will put them in a ported enclosure tuned to 32hz. Does that sound okay? How big should the box be for the two of them? around 6ft^3? Thanks ~MadroX

hey guys, im about to build a ported box to sit on my back seat, just for a little fun. amp is an saz1500d@1 ohm wired up to a diehard gold with 2/0 welding cable I realize box recommendations are 1.5 to 2 cubes ported at around 30-35hz with 12-15sq inches of port area per cube, but i was wondering if there was something more exact due to my lower power and config (being in a truck on the seat) its going to be a slot port because im going to use re's box calculator. oh and i planned on going sub firing up and port facing the windshield, is this a good or bad idea? im just looking for a daily street beater

W'sup guys, i'd like a little assistance on my box build. I'm doing revisions 2 my blowthrough in my 99' s-10 and need help on port size. My box will consist of 2 12" orion hcca's and will be 14.5" tall, 43" wide, and i'm not sure as 2 how much depth i'll need. I'm still in the process of learning how 2 calculate port size so assistance with this will be greatly appreciated. I currently have a blowthrough with a bandpass box formulated from Pete at hexibase. I've been trying 2 get him 2 help me construct a ported box but he's busy as hell and i've been trying 2 contact him for like 2 months with no reply. Can u guys possibly assist me? Thx alot.

I have an 04 Avalanche that I want to build a box as a center console since it's the only place for a reasonably sized box. I have overall dimensions of 13"wide by 24" long and 16" high with 3/4MDF. I haven't worked with ported boxes so I'm a little unfamiliar designing them. My plan is to have the sub rear facing and at the top of the box, with a slot port on the bottom facing back. I will be driving the Fi BTL 12 with a Kicker KX800.2 which is tested at 1038w. I enjoy mostly rap\hiphop style music, but want good all around sound. So my questions are: How do the box and port dimensions look? Is there a different port style that would work better? Does the port placement…

Okay so I am new to this. I am going to be building this in the near future and the hard part is that it's for a regular cab short box s-10 pickup. I do not know if i should go with a "blowout or just put a topor on the truck and put the sub in the back under that. My plan is to run a 2 F.I B.T.L 15" To a Audio Que 3500 H.D Running 1 ohm Power @ 18V** @ 10% THD 7500W x 1. I am trying to find a descent sub box to make up for this. And i have a couple ?'s Like i said i am new to this so am i going to need to push some more power to these beast's or is this going to be enough i mean i want something that is going to wake you up not put you to sleep. Am i going to have to d…

Supp' SSA!! I am looking to build a higher tuned box for my 2 15" Fi Audio Q's. ( I know they are not made for spl) just for fun... I do 148.1db @ 45hz (30hz tunning) but looking to see what higher tunning will do. For some reason i always peak at 43-45 hz with diferent boxes/tunning and a friend also peaks at 45hz with diferent boxes on 2 12's. Is it the Tahoe's peak or something?. Both are 01/02 Chevy Tahoe's. If i tune a box to 43-45hz will it help because of what i peak at ? Thanks for the input.

I know port tuning makes a difference. And I know what the differences are, but would there be an audible/easily noticeble difference between 30hz and 34hz tuning? For the larger amount of port area I want for my smaller box, I would have to tune around 34hz, instead of the 30hz I wanted to tune at.

Alright, I know how all you guys are happy to help people with set-ups and stuff. So I got one for ya. MY brother was paralyzed sometime around birth. So he is confined to a wheel-chair. He rides around in a big-honkin van. He loves car audio and has always been interested in what other people have. Anyway his birthday is coming up soon and I was wondering if you guys could just put your heads together and help me figure out how and where to put a system in his van. I will have pictures soon. Later Today. It's a '91 Chevy Van with the back seat cut out so he can drive his wheel-chair into it. Anyway I have to go put a water pump in. Thanks in advance for all your help and…

I know that ports are most efficent when they are facing on the same plane as the driver, and that you loose any gains form the port if it fires 180 degrees from the driver. but, how much SPL will be lost by aiming the por just under 90 degrees from the driver? In a (hopefully) up comming enclosure construction for an XXX18 in a Mazda B3000 ext cab putting the port on the same plane as the driver will be very hard, so i am thinking of having hte port firing up and the woofer on a slanf facing forward.... how will this compare tothe woofer and the port being on the same plane? im not concerned with not being loud, i am concerned with not beating a friends 4 JL w1v2's with…
