Today im going to build my 1st box for the fully loaded fi bl 12in. Im going to be using 3/4in thick mdf fiber board. Would i have to use braces to hold the box, its just one 12in, and also i have a Sundown sae 1200d amp. Is it capable of producing 1500watts rms. What would you have to adjust the amp to to have a good, loud sound? I have a Stinger amp kit 0 gague, and extra 25 feet of 0 gauge wire for the big # upgrade, and i also have a kinetic battery the khc 1600. Just recentley my friend got his system installed. He has the same equipment as i do, but he has the FI Q. Let me tell you, it is LOUD AS HELL, For just one 12inch... omg i could barely breath. To be honest i…

Cabin volume vs box volume. when building a wall do think the box should have more volume than the cabin? Spl should be louder in the smaller of the 2 right.

So I am designing a new enclosure and this one will have a center port. I have concerns with my port width when it reaches the rear of the enclosure. This is for 2-Zcon 12's,SAZ3500 power, currently box will be at a net volume roughly 7.8 cubes tuned at 32 the distance from the port wall to the flare is 4.33 inches if you cant read the photo Since it is in the center do I need to maintain the same width(in my case 6.5inches)? Is there a rule of thumb for this? Here is a pic of what I currently have designed.

its going in my 92 civic 4 door in the rear seat area i was thinking sub up port up...but curious to see what sub up port forward would be. only reason to go in that area is because we could barely get a 5 cube box in the trunk without beating some stuff in box is gonna be 6 cubes at 36hz anyone have an experience in a setup like this one? im not sure if its exactly legal in most comps because the box itself is gonna be over the window line unless they would consider it a wall?

OK i need to run through and make a check with yall to see if my demisions are rgith for this box and its ports ok the box has 4.6 cuft and it will have 2 re sx 12's each displaces .16 cuft and a port that displaces .24 cuft so total displacement = .56cuft which gives the box roughly 4 cuft so i have the port 15w2H14L = 33hz does this sound ok

Hey guys, I have 2 Older model Audiobahn Immortals (not the flamed out crap, and I got a good deal so dont rip on me please). I hit 140.8 legal on the TL with one in the trunk in a small box firing up in my civic, and want to put both in my backseat and make a temporary wall for a comp coming in a couple weeks, doesn't have to be perfect, but any pointers? People around here don't know there chit so I want to show people what a loud car is compared to some of the retards around here. Ill try and get some pics up but wondered if anyone could help at all. Thanks guys. Andrew

So I just got my SAZ-1200D and Diamond Audio TDX 10D4s wired up. The box I built is 2.5 ft^3 (after displacement), tuned to 33hz. Now the question is: If I build a larger box but keep the tuning freq the same, would the subs sound the same? Hit lower? This setup bangs for 2 10's in the 30-40 range, but doesn't quite hit the super lows that great.

car- lexus gs300 music- hip hop and rap sub- audioque sdc2.5 12 amp- jl audio 500/1 max height- 14.25 port tuning- figured 38 max depth- 14.125 max length- 31.125 using .75 thick mdf i get roughly 2.75 cubix feet.. so i figured with sub displacment and port i would be at about 2.5 which is what audioque is the biggest i should run the box.. now with the port i put in 2 inches wide by 8 inches tall and i would need a port length of 7.51 inches.. now my question is does all that sound about right? should i have the port longer? when i did the port at 14.25 tall and 2 inches wide it said i needed a port length of 14.71.. basically just looking for some advice on what to do…

Hi i'm starting a build, and I'm not sure if I'm going to need to upgrade my electrical system in my truck at all. I was hoping someone could tell me whether or not I should do so or not. I'm going to be installing an FI Q12" running probably an Audio Pipe 1500 in a box tuned to around 32~34 Hz. Installed in the back seat of a 1994 Ford Ranger with bone stock everything. Except a Clarion FZ409 Head unit. Which i'm still adjusting to. lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

hello all! i just ordered my 18" FI BL driver and am working on designing a box for this beast. i figured id go big as i am leaving for basic training(US Army) in about 6 months. Im looking to take the backseat out of my jeep wrangler and replace it with a fairly large box for this woofer. iv built some smaller sealed boxes and they have all come out fine but this will be my first time building a vented box any advice that you can share would be amazing and i thank you in advance. As far as the sub goes these are the specs that FI gives for it, i measured out my jeep and got some measurements that would work, i came up with a width of 32" a height of 16"(was planning on h…

Hi, I've read everywhere I could, but I get very different informations!!! My enclosure is about 4 ft3 and has a round 5.6"(diameter) PVC port; port length is 14". It sounds good, but I 've read that port area should be much bigger : 4 (ft3) * 15 = 60 sq inches. And my port is far from that. I don't really know the actual tuning, but I would like it to be around 30-32 hz. Do I have enough port area ? Or enough length? Enough port ? Please, help me !!!

Could i get some help on how big to build it / all of that kind of stuff? like dimensions, volume, ported size. i might take it to a local audio shop and have them build one but i don't know what sizes and stuff.

hi everyone, I'm posting yet another topic to see if I can get any more excellent advice. In a previous post I stated that I was gonna build my own box. I know I want a sealed box. My goal is a real flat response. In my literature for my subs (Phoenix Gold titanium elite) they list 2 different recommendations for sealed boxes they are as follows: {Musical: Vb 1.6, F3 33 Hz} {SPL: Vb 1.0, F3 36Hz} My question to you guys is, Since I have 2 subs, What would be the outcome of making 1 box to musical specs and the other to the SPL spec. The speaker placement will be under the rear deck lid with subs facing the rear of the car. Car being my Chrysler 300. The box will be made…

I'm posting this up again....... THIS time heavily revised, it now has slot port calculations, and CUT SHEETS! This EXCEL based box calculator will take your enclosure size, woofer displacement, the wood thickness you plan on using and the frequency you wish to tune it to and gives you the GROSS enclosure size, dimensions (Including CUSTOM dimensions in which you input two of the OUTSIDE measurements and it gives you the last one.) PLUS gives you the cutout sizes for each panel of the enclosure you just asked for....... I'm putting it out for real world testing to be sure the math is good and the cuts are helpful......... Let me know ASAP what you think and what proble…

Shizzzon as always if anyone would llike to chime in feel free. Shizzzon has been such a big help to me I wanted to ask him in particular about something I know I have faith in him for. My Port Love everyones ideas though so again chime away! 4 Shizzzzle I've been trying to send you a message w/ my phone #s and invite to for you and whomever to stay at mine and Kelly's home. For some reason I'm not able to send. In the attempted PM i got carried away w/ the following so I'm just making it a topic so I don't lose it. ghs_wrestler 189 and I went to a local comp yesterday and they were using an old K & M mic that had been calibrated by Audiocontrol, according to the JL rep there. Somehow we went from 143 dB on a new Termlab with 5.1 cubes @ 36hz to 131 on this mic with 5 cubes @ 46 hz. Everyone was hitting kind of low, but there were people there that I guarantee would not have done better than us, but did. Any suggestions?
