I have an re sx15d4 in a box that is 2.9 cu ft gross w/2 3" wide 10" long aero ports. I will be running an saz1500d @2 ohms into this sub. I want the best sq I can get from this sub. So I'm looking for box recommendations. Right now I'm looking at building a 4.2 cu ft box tuned to 34 hertz with a slot port facing the back of my jeep and the sub firing up. I used the box calculator to design the box.

Got another addition to the family today. I have all winter to build these...so its time to ponder enclosure ideas. Building into 12"s. Going in the trunk of a 04' Grand Prix Thinking of allocating about 5 cubes to L port. Box can be deep as long as its not over 15 " tall. Was also thinking if a 4th order would be worth it, but its very hard to find info on successful sealed builds with these, So I'm taking a shot in the dark. Sub forward port forward may not fit across very well. It will be tight. But probably would work. They are very heavy drivers however, and would like to have space for bracing. Was maybe thinking aero port to driver side, or..

I'm just looking for some pointers on where I could look for reputable information on designing 2 way passive, 2 way active and (after some practice) eventually 3 way active front stages. Just stuff like, what to keep in mind as far as driver selection, particular features to look for when choosing a certain driver, and how to design passive crossovers. I was daydreaming and hit a roadblock when I realized, what the hell do I even know about a quality front stage? I can't say much at all, other than, deaden, and airseal the speakers. So I feel like it's time to start learning, might even have some applicable tips on hand for when the new truck is ready I'm plannin…

I love sound quality and its clarity. But I always end up listening to mp3's and I have heard from many places and I do believe them, that mp3's are to heavily compressed, and I want to know where I can get true audiophile grade sound tracks, of rock and techno type music??

I am new hear but installed my first system in 92. I use to have a hatchback and always used sealed boxes. I always used a slightly slanted boxes firing up at about 75 degrees and about 5 inches from the back wall (t5 inches is all the space I had left). Always had clean and awsome bass but I've recently installed a couple of 12's in a flat box firing directly at the back at 90 degrees to the rear with less success. My question is, Is it better to have a slanted box for rear firing and what is the best distance from the rear cause my trunk is huge and am currently about 10 inches from the back. Thanks for your support …

so i was told my wall was too big, lol which it is 16 cubes for 4 12"s, but beyond that, we still get a solid 152 on 1900 watts clamped, looking to gain fairly large numbers (1.5 db) without increasing power and withing 2 weeks lol. but i was told about a rear loading wall, the guy told me that he stumbled across putting a "wall" inside the wall that has around 2-3" of gap between the edges and was at a slight angle, claims to have gained him 8 db (i doubt it, but he has all the equipment to know what he did and how much it gained). what do you guys think of this, all i can think of is that is sounds like a bandpass with some sort of a horn effect to it... im not sure…

in a hatchback, anybody personally experienced a setup where the subs were within 3.5" from the glass producing over 2,000w of power? Is there any danger or am i worrying too much?

Has anybody had any experience with Rear-Firing in Single Cab? I plan on doing this or downfiring. The only problem with downfiring is the max bottom depth I can do is 12.5" so the 12" sub will be on the surface of the wood just barely. I'm worried it might not be enough support because that will leave about 1/2" on both sides of the Sub Hole. (Where ever the sub will be, it will at least have 2 baffles.)

I am looking for a box builder in the Louisville Ky area. I live in the Jefferson-town (J-Town) area (40299-3520) of Louisville Kentucky & I was wondering if any of you guys would know or recommend any box builders in the Louisville Kentucky or Southern Indiana Area. I just want someone who is good at what they do & will give me a fair price. I figure that cutting out shipping costs will save me at least $100.00 & with someone local they can actually see my car & build what I am actually looking for. Thanks Mike

So if you looked at my build log then maybe you can get an idea. If not then to fill you in i have a RE SX-12 in a ported box 2.0^3 at 35hz and after setting gains i am just let down by the lack of serious bump. I'm looking for a recommendation on to what route I should go to get more bump from my back seat area. It's a convertible and it's been said that a smaller enclosure may assist my needs. I have a pair of alpine type-r 12's gaining dust that would be good for a smaller enclosure if that helps any. Anyhow thanks fellas.

Originally I thought my enclosure specs were very close to these, tuning and volume wise: 42W" x 22H" x 22D" - outer dimensions= 9.84961ft3 gross volume 7.3ft3 net volume tuned to 32Hz 6W" x 20.5H" for 123in2 of port area port 1-14.5" + port 2- 7" = 21.5" port length After reading through Chops end correction thread, Ive decided to do the math myself and find out what Ive really got. This is what Ive come up with. Im way off... The port length is actually 27.5". I had no idea how to measure the port. The tuning is more like 30.3Hz port volume calculation: 6W" x 20.5H"=123in2 123in2 x 27.5"=3382.5in2 3382.5in2/1728in2= 1.96ft3 of port volume 9.84961ft3-1.96ft3(port volume…

All 3 of these can be found at Home Depot. The goals i'm looking for is the best stiffness, yet no heavier than MDF (96lbs). All sheeting would be 3\4". I read and read about these sheets and i can't get any concrete info about them... I would have also done a vs Arauco but i cannot get that around here.

I built a sealed box for my 12" ICON to proper size for my mustang, but I've recently sold that car and picked up a small hatchback. I want to stick with the sealed enclosure design for this car to minimize the amount of space. Whats the smallest I could go enclosure-wise for the ICON? Would it be possible to go smaller than the .9-1.25cu ft size thats recommended if the difference way made up with polyfill? Ideally i want as small as box as possible but I still want the sub to sound great.

So I'm doing a build in my 2003 Dodge Dakota crew cab of 2 15" icons and would like to reinforce my roof. I'm getting 3/4-1" flex on one 10" incriminator I series and also headliner slap and it drives me crazy. I have a bulk pack of dynomat extreme I got for like 20 bucks. Would 3/8" MDF with kerfs And lots of pl then dynomat between headliner and wood be good? Just want to cut down roof flex and stop headliner flex. Any suggestions? I would rather not have to order stuff if possible as I'm tearing truck apart this weekend and shipping is slow Thanks

My frnd recently accuired two RFP3SD subs but my knowledge on box design for these shallow subs are limited. Please help me with box capacity and tuning(ported). I know normal RF subs like a bitt of high tuning but for these ...i have no clue if they will like it to be different. His goal is to squeeze it in a GETZ so space is a problem, if one will fit better, we might just go that way but he refuses to change subs so ill try and get this working for him. He want it loud with a bit of oomf but IDK so would appreciate your imput. Thanks guys.

Hotcarl was kind enough to send me a design someone had made up for him for a SS RL-i 8. I wanted to see if you guys could take a look at it for me and see what you think. I personally have never designed or built a TL. Not to mention I will not have time to build this any time soon, so don't ask for progress pictures

Way late but as promised here are a few pics, sorry it took so long and even if you don't know it all you guys on the forum have helped me in some way or another. The idea was to obviously keep a sub inside the car (like my 8's that were in there before) those of you who know BMW trunks understand why. Keeping it stealth was a main focus hence the flat black paint it really blends it into the car. Any and all comments are welcome, keep in mind I designed it to be way stiff, sound great, and astetics came in last. I estimate that it is around 1.2 net after polyfill. I set it on top of my 1.5 cu ft net box and it was fairly close. Later, b
