  1. got my iCONs in, and im starting a few enclosures.. problem is, im not sure what kind of airspace is optimal.. id rather build 1 or 2 boxes and play with the tuning rather then ad to my collection of T&E boxes.. hoop of the trunk is unbelievably small, so the box might be split into 2 boxes.. ive got a few solid ideas for boxes that have measured out to 2.5 each sub.. should i be shooting for over 3.0??? from DevilDriver's review it seems the subs like the biggest possible enclosure.. il post pics in a few

I am getting ready to do a blowthrough in my truck. The subs I am planning on using are 4 Audioque hdc3 18's. The dimensions are 50x17.5x77 inches. I will be running them off of two IA 40.1's strapped. I have built several boxes but never a blowthrough. I have heard that bandpass is the best way to go when doing a blowthrough...is this true? Anyway is there anyone who can design me an enclosure for this setup? I will pay of course just let me know.

Looking for some tips on the trunk set-up. I have an 18" BL in there currently that is upfiring as it is the only arrangement I could use and still get it in the trunk. I'm looking at switching to a 15" though and can change it around if you guys have tried anything that works well. Firing into seats, firing back, port arrangement. stuff like that that I was unable to with the 18". Looking to save some time before I start tuning!! maybe you guys have had some good tips for me to start with. Any other good trunk tips would be appreciated to. If I compete with this in my car, it'll be a first. I've typically only competed with hatchbacks

  4. Well I'm trying to plan a fiberglass build for my twin 12" jl w6v2's that will be going in my WRX (sedan). I've asked around to get suggestions on how to go about the design, but noone seems to be able to help me with my question?? I know with a regular box your kind of limited to either just facing your subs straight back or straight foward... straight back, pushed up against the backseat usualy being "as good as your going to get" as far as cabain gain goes. What I've been trying to find out is, since sub orientation is just about limitless with fiberglass, what orientation will yield me the best possible cabin gain and sound in my trunk? Like facing the subs towar…

Hey everyone, i have 2 T10001's powering 4 15" cvr's and im looking into a more reliable subwoofer that will belt out the lows a little bit better. I have narrowed it down to 2 18" Bl's with the cooling option(as i heard its neccesary) Question... i have 46L 27T and 19D to work with, however i must put a divider in because i will be running 2 amps, 1 per woofer(i dont want to blow one due to mechanical errors) So if i cut that in half i get 4.679 cubes with the port 22.25x2.75 per chamber. 35hz 4.679 without woofer displacement. Is this giong to be sufficient enough because i know it says 5-10 cubes for this woofer. Im really looking to keep the same output as my cvrs bu…

  7. I am tryin to work out a box plan for 2 18" Fi Q's, the box i am plannin will really be 2 seperate boxes. 1 for each 18 then bolted togather, then trim paneled in to look like 1 box. Doing 2 boxes to make it easier to pull the boxes in and out(I am a 1 man build crew) of the van(2000 Gmc safari). Here is what i came up with from RE's web site. Each box will be 25" wide by 34" inches deep by 21" tall wood thickness will be 3/4 inch mdf, port width will be 4.5 port height will be 19.5 and the lenght will be 28.75 to give me a box that is tuned at 28.18Hrz and gives me 6.766 ft of airpace. Do you guy think this box will be ok for everyday driving, I am looking for good …

Hey guys! I did a bit of reasearch but couldn't find a good topic about this. What do you guys reccomend for some good box building tips for the best box possible? Not like designs so much (Although if you wanted to post set-ups such as like...Explorer, sub up port back (as an example) that might be helpful to some), but things to do in the box. Things like: Rounding the port edges to flairs 45 degree angles in the corners for standing waves placing the subwoofer so its at the back of the port length where to add braces so that turbulence is minimized (or using rod threads or your favorites) those were a few I could think of as example and I'm not even sure if they're al…

I've got a 2.4 cube box tuned to 30 hz with a 3" aero port. The sub is a Fi Bl 12 getting about 750 watts off a Powerbass ASA1500.1. I went to comp last sunday and did a 136.8 at 44hz. If I made the port tuned to 35 hz, or even 38 hz, would my score go up? I'm not too worried about the competition in my class since I am sitting in 2nd place in the circuit, but it's always nice to be louder.

Hello, first of all please excuse my english, I am from Romania. I just received a fi Q 15 ( no options ) and I am trying to calculate my speaker enclosure. I want to go for sealed enclosure because I don't have much space in the trunk ( BMM e46 sedan ). Recommendations for fi q box is 2-2.6 cu ft. With my calculations I am about 2.5 but I want to be sure I calculate it right before I give the blueprints to the box builder This is my result, I am happy because it fits inside the trunk perfectly. I made a dummy box to see how it will fit inside the car. Wood is 1 inch thick.

Are there any SQ comps that are regularly in NC? I see that a lot of you SQ guys are from VA, where do you usually compete? Any local organizations or the like? I have never competed before, so I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. While I'm at it, what are the different SQ classes, and their requirements?

It was around 1990 when I helped install two 15"inch subs (i believe they were Pyramid) in a Chevy Cavalier, and installing a 15" MTX in a Mustang hatch back. Both systems were running around 300-400 watts or so and were extremely loud for the time. As car audio has become more popular, I've seen the trend go to the bigger and loudest SPL system you can get (Is there really a 2-way system that can keep up with a 2000-4000 watts sub system and sound good, and not have to have 8 mids and 12 tweets?). The thought of thousands of watts in a system were unheard of. As Im getting older, the trend still keeps expanding. Now you have people installing a sub stage with thousands…

Have this started on a couple other sites. Been out for awile (5-6yrs). Wanting to get back into comps. I already have 6 MA HK4000ds and a VW Golf hatchback. Also have a buddy selling a couple Americanbass VFL400.1s for a good price. Would prefer to stick with the MAs because I have them. Looking to do 2-15s in a wall. Prefer the street class to save $$$. Have about $3500 to spend. Also what would be some good sub options. I used to run some Apxx's and have seen several motors forsale. Also the RDs I have seen do really well.

Just bought 2 of the old version BTL 12s loaded with the 3rd mag and everything. But Im trying to save space for more room for my batteries and amps. My amps are going to consist of a T40001BD and a T5002. Im going to do a semi blowthrough in the trunk of my Thunderbird in which the back seats do not fold down but Im going to cut out the rear armrest and use it to help let bass escape into the cabin. I wanted my enclosure to be subs and ports forward sealed off from the trunk. I'll have about 8" between the back of the seat and the front of the enclosure. My deminsions will be (double baffled) 15"H x 38.25"W x 23"D. After sub displacement, bracing, and 45 degree corners (r…

  22. Big dilemma, trunk car im working with. I have 7.445 Cu Ft internal area for use if i fire up but the box will be removabable so i can grab my spare tire if i need to. Will up firing in a trunk lose me alot of spl or clarity? Which direction should i fire the port if im making this setup. Also for two RE SX 15's how much port area should be used? The port area is a very limiting factor as its robbing the little amount of area i have. The other way i can do is rear firing but i must make a two piece box to fit it in the trunk. The subs would only be 2 inches from the rear lid of the trunk. I gain .2 cu ft from switching but the amount of work would be substantial and i wou…
