I have a Soundstream Reference 500sx rated at 500 watts in 1ohm & 2ohm, is there a difference in sound quality in the different load and what about subs, does it make a difference in sound quality if you have a dual 1ohm or a dual 4ohm sub wired at 2ohm load are there any differences in sound quality.

So I just received two of these: Trans Dapt Performance Products - Battery Trays Going to install them tonight however I'm wondering what those clips and second piece is? Also, I'm going to drill into the rear cargo area of my tahoe and bolt those trays down...How do I ensure I'm not drilling into something important? (On the bottom of the truck) Thanks

After searching for a subwoofer I have decided on the DCON 12" it seems perfect for what I am looking for. My question is regarding the box I saw the recommended plans were 2.25^3 at 30hz I think but I have plans already for a 2.5^3 box tuned for 35hz. Would the sub work well in that box or should I scrap it and just build the recommended one. I also have a 350 watt alpine amp, would it be ok to run the dcon at 350 watts? Thanks in advance for any advice/help. - Alex

Tought to explain, but here it goes. I plan on using an 18" sub in my car. Due to size restraints it will be firing up into the lid of the trunk. Now, has anyone tried to make a baffle to go on top of the sub? The baffle would be touching the box at the back of the trunk and be touching the very top of the trunk at the front of the trunk. The baffle would span the entire length of the trunk. The sub would then fire into the baffle and create compression loading like in a hatchback. Damn, that is tough to understand. If anyone knows what I am talking about and has a better explanation than please feel free to elaborate. I just drew it up quick. I am just wondering if the …

I was thinking about to the standard square ports, but last night I thought about doing one, maybe two, larger round ports using PVC. Has anyone tried this. I was thinking something like 8" diameter ports, maybe two of them. Since it is going in a blowthrough, is it also okay to extend the ports out a little, maybe almost into the blowthrough to ensure more pressure from the port goes directly into the cabin of the truck.

Hard to explain. Currently i have the standard single fifteen ported to the back, sub and port rear facing. I have a 03 maxima, and would be interested in sealing this to the interior of the car and firing the sub forward, with the port firing up through the rear deck into the rear window. I did something similar in my last max but still had the sub firing up. I sat i a car with two orion hccas sealed to the rear seat and ported finging up through rear deck, and NEED THAT. Anyone up to the task?

Hey all, Ever wondered, what weight chop mat should I use? What resin do I need? How much hardener (MEKP) do I need to add to the resin? What is it is hot? What if it is cold? Whats the best way to use fiberglass and add strength to something? Wonder no longer my friends... As i gear up for my door pod build I have been amassing some more fiberglass fabrication products. These products are typical of what you would see in any car audio install that involves fiberglass show I wanted to share them with you, along with an explanation of each and some answers to questions I see repeatedly online! Enjoy! Also, here is a wonderful table that allows you to better un…

I will be soon upgrading my current sub and box setup in my F250. I am limited on space and think I can go 1.5cu without much issue or maybe even up to 2.cu if I add an extension piece. My goal here louder deeper harder hitting setup. Here is a pic of the space I can work with and my current box. 1 10in Fosgate p2 in .53 sealed. I can easily double the size of the current box or I can make almost like a L shaped box to utilize the lower section behind the pass side. Without using the the lower pass side I think I could do one that is (17in H.. 33in W.... 5in D1.....8in D2) this would be outside diameter and I will be using 3/4 MDF. This should be about perfect for o…

The dimensions are" 20" Wide x 18" Tall x 15" Deep = 3.125 ft^3 external Internal = 2.385 ft^3 - .15 (speaker) = 2.235 ft ^3 to work with minus whatever port area??? a little area in the back lost to the plexi window that will be put in, but negligible The speaker is a Fi BL 12, with flatwind and pchamfer options. Tuning is suggested to be 32 hz and box size between 1.8-2.5 ft^3 I can't go much bigger due to trunk opening, and for that reason I am building to boxes of the same size and putting them in the trunk that way. I mainly listen to Rap/ Hip Hop and Hanna Montana ( ) These will be facing towards the seat so that the plexi rear is visible when opening the trunk. I …

First off, i know i already posted this in general car audio, but i just wanted to get as many opinions as possible, and i always seem to more replies in here than anywhere hahah. Sub: Fi BL 18 with flatwind and p chamfer Amp: Hifonics bxi2006d (again, its not sundown or anything, but it should get the job done for now and even if it is overrated, i think 1800 should push a bl just fine. Wiring: Knuconcepts.. look Not included in the kit are RCAs and the speaker wire. Also should i get 10 or 12 gauage, and what do i need to fit it into the terminal on the sub? Enclosure: 6^3ft after all displacement and port, and tuned to 34.4xxx hz. I guess what i'm looking for is the O…

if u have a regular internal port that needs to be say for example 20" long to get a 30hz fq.....would it still need the same 20" length if it was external to get the same 30Hz tuning? I know internal volume would be more considering less displacement

I have 4 Sundown Sa-8 V2s that I am thinking about putting in a 4th order box and I have a few questions about how to design it. 1. Do I use the manufacturer's specs for the sealed part? 2. What is the best ported to sealed ratio for a box that I would like to have an output of 20s+ hz? 3. Would tuning the ported area to 45 hz give me the best range in frequency response? (Maybe 20s-60s or so)

From what I have read here the port area per square foot rule is just a myth, port area has nothing to do with the size of the box. I tried searching more and all I could find was that port area is determined by the parameters of the sub, tuning, and amount of power. So I am curious what formula is used to actually calculate how much port area you need? I am currently designing a new enclosure for my 15" Fi SP4 which is run off an AQ3500. My old box was designed to fit in a trunk but now I have a Tahoe so size is not as big of a restriction for the new box. It was 3.83cuFt @32.25Hz (after displacement). I like the low end but actually would like to try tuning lower. I …

Has anyone ever used it? How does it work? Is it worth $17. I want to spray the inside and possibly outside of my sub box with it but I don't know if it is worth it. Should I just get some spray on bedliner in a can and use that instead? I was hoping it would created a better seal and add strength to the box.

okay new here and was told that you guys could definitely put me in at least a general direction. here goes I have a customer who had three 12" L7's powered by 3 hifonics bx11200's in the trunk of his 96 J30. the box it self was a sealed, non-separated, box that was just big enough to wrap around the woofers and fire at the rear with the box jutted up against the gas tank that resides there. he is asking if there is any way to build a box that would be noticeably louder yet still retain the punch of such a constrained box. he doesn't mind the loss of his trunk so but the real challenge is figuring out how to get the sound to penetrate through the obstacles within the trun…

I decided to temporarily put in one of my SE12's in at 2ohms on my T3002 in mono mode. Giving it approx. 800 watts. The box is 2 cubes after all displacement. For the port I doulble up a pc of 3/4" MDF and glued a pc of 4" pvc pipe through 1 layer and router a 1/2" radius on the top layer to make a homemade aeroport. The length overall of this port is 13". I don't believe I am right in thinking the tuning is at 32. Can someone double check me on this. Also am thinking about shortening the lenght of the port to get about a 35 hz tuning. This is just a temporary daily box for me to have something till it warms up. But I listen to all kinds of music so I needed some beat in …
