I just copped 2 new 15" Alpine "Hype"-Rs for $200. Wanna play around with them & just see what all they can do. Ive always wanted to just see what they sound like cause I NEVER have. Ive been told the lows suck for the R so what kind of box could help put for that? 7cuft box tuned to 34 or 35hz? P.S. NOT my daily subs...

I know port tuning makes a difference. And I know what the differences are, but would there be an audible/easily noticeble difference between 30hz and 34hz tuning? For the larger amount of port area I want for my smaller box, I would have to tune around 34hz, instead of the 30hz I wanted to tune at.

My buddy is trying to put a 18" fi ssd fully loaded in the back of his eagle summit van.. He has about 1200 watt rms of power to run the sub.. There is two different set of max dimensions we can use ( it all depends on how tall the box will actually be. The first set is a tall narrow box and our max dimensions are 27 1/4 tall X 39 wide X 15 Deep. And the other set is 20 1/2 deep X 39 wide X 21 tall. Any help would be wonderful... Would really like start build on box as soon as we can.. Also I would like it ported wit a tune right around 32 hz. And I not sure wat would sound best wit the speaker direction and port direction so any advice is wonderful.

Okay, I will be finished up my box tonight and had a few questions before I close it all up and get it hooked up. *I've seen online that it says to put weatherstripping around the hole for the sub before putting the sub in the box? This true? *And I've seen people use resin on the inside or their boxes to help the structure? This true aswell? Thanks for the help and thanks to everyone that has helped throughout my first build!!

First off, i know i already posted this in general car audio, but i just wanted to get as many opinions as possible, and i always seem to more replies in here than anywhere hahah. Sub: Fi BL 18 with flatwind and p chamfer Amp: Hifonics bxi2006d (again, its not sundown or anything, but it should get the job done for now and even if it is overrated, i think 1800 should push a bl just fine. Wiring: Knuconcepts.. look Not included in the kit are RCAs and the speaker wire. Also should i get 10 or 12 gauage, and what do i need to fit it into the terminal on the sub? Enclosure: 6^3ft after all displacement and port, and tuned to 34.4xxx hz. I guess what i'm looking for is the O…

  13. Hey guys. I recently completed my build using an IA DR12 in 2.2 cubes at 31 hz. My port area right now is 25 in^2. I do get a some port noise on the lower notes in some songs. I was just wondering if I should rebuild a box using more port area. Just not sure if it would make a differance or not. It gets plenty loud right now, I just have had a "what if" idea in my head since I noticed it. Any input would be great. Thanks Tony Nelson

  17. Alrighty, I think I have the new design down. Going to be 4 Se 12' in 8cu.'s after displacements. Powered by 2 SAZ-1500's strapped tuned to 35hz. After doing alot of reading, searching, and math I have come to this: 3 6" aero's ( around 92 sq.in. of port total) for a length of each port to be 18.94"(19.94 overall). Should I have more or less port? I have read and searched through quite a bit of the posts. Some of the math and that calculators I have used said I need around 138sq. in. of port. But I have read that when using aero's you may only approx. need 2/3's of that. So with that in mind what's your opinions. If this is wrong can you point out some more pla…

  18. So i'm trying to "model", if that's the correct term, a subwoofer in WinISD and BBP6 as a comparsion between the programs.. They both tune the enclosure super low. WinISD picks a net volume; BBP6 didn't have a specified net volume. Neither suggest port area.. Whats going on? EDIT: BBP6 tuned to 23 Hz (super low), WinISD tuned to a reasonable 34 Hz (but net volume was like .5 cuft)

Okay I am stuck in VA on Fort A.P. Hill right now and can;t make a new box so thats out for now. My 2 boxes are built for DD9512's and are tuned to 47hz. I want better impact from them. They are facing the back hatch with the ports next to them so it looks like one big ass box with a split port in the middle (if you can follow this). Anyways this is in the back of a 99 Ford Explorer XLT. No sound deadoner yet. Tryign to get more impact in my back. Thinking maybe slide them closer to the gate???? J

Itll be powered by my elemental design nine.1 (and from reading through these forums, noone seems to like ED, but this is the amp im sticking to) and im guna be wiring the sub down to 1ohm. my enclosure is going to be in the ballpark of 4.5 cubes in my '01 extended cab ranger...but this time i want to go ported, and this WILL be my first ported box (and my 4th setup period) i want to do aero ports, but im still having a hard time trying to figure out how to get port dimensions and etc. and idk what to really tune it to either....i guess around 30hz or so and if it helps, i listen to rap (and country, but t…

My frnd recently accuired two RFP3SD subs but my knowledge on box design for these shallow subs are limited. Please help me with box capacity and tuning(ported). I know normal RF subs like a bitt of high tuning but for these ...i have no clue if they will like it to be different. His goal is to squeeze it in a GETZ so space is a problem, if one will fit better, we might just go that way but he refuses to change subs so ill try and get this working for him. He want it loud with a bit of oomf but IDK so would appreciate your imput. Thanks guys.

  25. Big dilemma, trunk car im working with. I have 7.445 Cu Ft internal area for use if i fire up but the box will be removabable so i can grab my spare tire if i need to. Will up firing in a trunk lose me alot of spl or clarity? Which direction should i fire the port if im making this setup. Also for two RE SX 15's how much port area should be used? The port area is a very limiting factor as its robbing the little amount of area i have. The other way i can do is rear firing but i must make a two piece box to fit it in the trunk. The subs would only be 2 inches from the rear lid of the trunk. I gain .2 cu ft from switching but the amount of work would be substantial and i wou…
