Hey, I have a whole trunk to fill on a Impala 1972. I plan on either getting (4) 12 BTL or (2) 15 BTL. What do you guys suggest for this trunk and setup? I have seen 4 12s in a straight box going across but dont know if these require more space. Maybe have two on either side in an arrow up formation, speakers facing the rear trunk. ( ^ ). I plan to build it square ported and have an appeal once done.

Alright, so i'm building a box for my 15" Q My problem is the max hieght i can get out of my trunk is 16". My question is that my front plate after being cut out for the sub only leaves 3/16" on each side. Being that the front plate is 14.5" tall. Will it be enough to support the sub itself or will this rob its structural integrity? I would like to advoid slanting or angling the front plate to fit it in.

Would a box that is 2.046 cubes after all displacements with 2 ports that are 1.875x8x22" (will be behind my back seat in my truck) be ok or sound good or give me fair spl numbers with 3 or 4 sa-8s v1 d2s or 3 or 4 orphan 8s in it running off a crescendo bc2000? Is it enough port area? Box volume? Is there anything I should change?

Alright, so my boss finally warming up to the idea of making a wall in his Cavalier for our shop demo car! Now, this isn't 100% going to happen, but I'm excited and want to be ready for when he decides. I know this place has a ton of knowledge, plenty and plenty of people who have made walls. I guess I'm looking for just general rules and/or tips to make sure it will turn out well. Iv decided just to make a normal, flat and vented wall. Leaning towards 4 15's with a nice big slot port on the drivers side. Any tips are welcome of course, thanks guys!

Getting ready to do a little sound deadening this weekend. This is going into an 07 Altima. Do I need to remove any factory deadener that is glued to the floorboard or any other place. I'm not talking about any jute carpet or material that can be easily removed with my hands. I know that some cars have factory carpet/rubber like padding on the floorboards, does this need to get removed or can I just deaden around it? Thanks. Thanks!!! :drink40:

Besides the obvious, what is the difference between front fire and down fire enclosures? Is it just a prefrence issue or is there a sound quality difference?

As far as sealed enclosures are concerned, I find myself to be pretty knowledgeable. When it comes to ported enclosures, thats a different story. Ive been reading quite a bit and tryin to find out how the fudge to make one - mainly the port itself and how you incorporate this with the rest of the box. When i look at ported boxes it looks likes a pucking maze and i havent the slightest clue how long to cut each piece of wood <-----thats just one of the many things im not educated on....I know about displacement and all that good stuff but still find myself extremely confused when it comes to ports....if anyone has a site i can go to and read up that would be appreciated…

I'm thinking about making a box for some older Rockford RFP1408's that I have, they are 200 watts RMS each, the only wood I have is a 30"x60" sheet of 1" MDF and another smaller sheet of 3/4" MDF. So, I'm gonna use the 1" sheet for most of the box, and the small 3/4" sheet for the front. 1.25 Cubic feet 1" x 11" port tuned to 33hz What do you think?

  15. I am building an enclosure for my truck today. I will have 2.5^3 net before port behind my rear seat. I have a few different options available. I have a Rockford T1500.1 bd CP for power. I have already 6 Rockford P2 8"s, my plan was to do 4 ported. Would end up .5 each after port and all with a single 4" Aero Port. Would tune it around 29Hz Thoughts? Ideas?

  16. Does anyone have the specs for the Fi BTL 15" subs. I am installing 2 of them for a customer, but he doesn't have any perameters for the subs. He is putting a Hifonics Brutus 2600 watt RMS d class amp on each sub. It is going to be in an old school s-10 2-door Blazer walled off right behind the front seats. Built for competition only, wanting to hit the biggest legal spl number at USAC competition. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am new hear but installed my first system in 92. I use to have a hatchback and always used sealed boxes. I always used a slightly slanted boxes firing up at about 75 degrees and about 5 inches from the back wall (t5 inches is all the space I had left). Always had clean and awsome bass but I've recently installed a couple of 12's in a flat box firing directly at the back at 90 degrees to the rear with less success. My question is, Is it better to have a slanted box for rear firing and what is the best distance from the rear cause my trunk is huge and am currently about 10 inches from the back. Thanks for your support …

Been awhile since Ive been on here but I Just purchased back my 2x 15" SSA Icon subs I first purchased around 11 years ago. I have/ had them in a 7.2 cubic foot box net tuned to 32 and it sounded great on the bass music and rap/ hip hop I used to listen to but not amazingly accurate/ punchy on rock, etc. Im looking to only use one of them in my 2010 Ram 1500. I currently have a 10" JL W7 in a sealed box in the truck and it sounds great and I love it but doesn't quite have the output Id like and planning to put 1 of the Icons in the truck. Im considering either Ported or sealed. I now listen to mainly bands like chainsmokers, club music, alt rock, heavy…

Hey guys I was wondering if I could get some help for a box design. I messed up my first design as my box fits inside my car but I FORGOT to measure the opening of my trunk to put the box in which doesn't allow it to slide right in. I am coming to you guys for a design for the Fi 15" BTL. And the car I have is a 95 Honda Accord. Max width I will go is 35" and the height will 16.5". Was looking for maybe 4 cubes of space @ 35Hz. I would really appreciate the help and thanks in advance! -Curt

Am trying to calculate the exact cu.ft for a wedge enclosure. I tried a few different sites and got anywhere from 5.8 - 6.0 cu.ft. Since I needed the exact size I worked it out by hand myself. Here are my dimensions and what i got. Can anyone double check this for me please? Wedge Design Outside Dimensions Height = 22" Depth 1 = 10" Depth 2 = 20" Width = 39" Formulas used: Rectangle L X W X D Triangle 0.5 (B X H X W) Since the design is basicly a rectangle and a triangle combination, thats how i calculated it. I got 4.12 cu.ft for the rectangle and 2.06 cu.ft for the triangle with a gross volume of 6.18 cu.ft. I also took into account that the 1.5"…

I need to build a slanted box and obviously the port is going to need bending. Should I go with a labyrinth port or an l-shaped port ? How do I calculate the lenght of the port, because the top part of it is going to be shorter than the bottom. Should I average the lengths ? A couple pictures might help... To my understanding that would be an overall length of ~40cm. Am I right or am I terribly wrong ?

3.7 cubes after port displacement with 48 square inches of port vs 3.2 cubes after port displacement with 56 square inches of port. Fi SSD 15" I know it probably wouldn't be a huge difference but which would get louder? In one you sacrifice air space but gain port space and the other you gain air space but sacrifice port space. So what I'm trying to say is which is more important when figuring loudness?
