SPL & SQ / Fabrication

If you run the port externally, does it take up space or add to space inside the enclosure. Same idea as inverting your subs, they still take up space inside the enclosure, correct? Thanks

I dont have time to try to make some plans.... i need some people to bust out some plans for me... this is for a comp in like a week need it soon guys. I need someone to build me something around 4.5cubes, maybe 5cubes tuned around 41-45hz... Whats going in it is.... 1 12" XXX powered by 1 RE 35.1. Need these plans by at least saturday. I have a 97 accord sedan, I running a alpine hu I have 3 JBl BP series amps. the 80.4 for my highs and Im running the BP 1200.1 per sub. As for Subs, I have the MKII 12's Brahma's (2) in a 1.75 cubic feet box I think tuned an 30hz. I don't think it hits hard enough I haven't had it tested yet. Im looking for some suggestions for a new setup to get a deeper and harder bang. Could someone help with some ideas, even if I have to use the whole trunk im fine with it

I have an re sx15d4 in a box that is 2.9 cu ft gross w/2 3" wide 10" long aero ports. I will be running an saz1500d @2 ohms into this sub. I want the best sq I can get from this sub. So I'm looking for box recommendations. Right now I'm looking at building a 4.2 cu ft box tuned to 34 hertz with a slot port facing the back of my jeep and the sub firing up. I used the box calculator to design the box.

I have a 97' Thunderbird that Im doing now. I wanted either a pair of Fi BTL12s or Fi BL15s. I want the BL15s because I would save a lil money on power and can be used in other areas such as the build, elec system, etc..... But the enclosure size needed is kinda on the large size for my trunk. But I can fit them in there if I angle the baffle and use 2-6" aero ports. My real question is I was reading on another forum that a guy with a mustang (which is basically the same trunk as mine) had success with his subs facing forward and his aeros on the side. He said that subs back/port side was the loudest on the meter but subs forward/port side was the loudest to ear. Has anyb…

i have a sony hu,a dual amp for 6x9's,and a punch 401s running 2 15''memphis pr.when i turn it up where the bass is really starting to hit they go off and i turn it down a little they come back on,however if i fade all the way to subs i can hit them as hard as i want to.any ideas?thanks!!

how small of a port tube can i get away with for a 1 cuft box? going to put a ssa dcon in it.

I have a 95 caddi deville, and i would like help in building a ported SQ sub box for two Dcon 12D4's. they will be powerd by a RF power T500-1 dbcp 2010 model. My bass gets trapped in the trunk,so i cut two 4" round holes in the rear deck to let sound inside the car. will the 4" holes change the tuning of a ported box? All help welcom. thanks

i got 2 15 fi q i got a subwoofer box with the front slanted.. will it make a difference in sound?? i got 2.3cubic feet per sub on the box.. on a 2005 nissan altima running a soundstream rubicon 2500 with kinetik hc600 and rockford fosgate 0 gauge amp kit.. the box is on its way and im worried about will the slant make a sound difference will it decrease the sound quality?? ill be facing the subs towards the trunk away from me. well its in the building process..i can send an email and tell the builder to make it square if it makes a difference..

Just looking for some help I guess. Mostly with the stock classes. The organization i was preparing for is looking like its just about dead (dbdrag). how much port do i need for a 9.0cf box is 120'' of port to much port---like 16.5'' tall 6.5'' wide 16''deep i just dont wont to much port any help would be nice

I am getting ready to make a box and need to know two things. I am building a box for a nightshade 12 and I got an aeroport. The box is going to be sub up port on the side 1) Can the port be inside like old times? The only reason I am asking is all I see nowadays with aeroports is crx style with ports out of box. Will I lose db's by putting port in instead of out? 2) If so how many cubes roughly would it take up? Port will be 15.5 inches long and its a 4 inch aeroport. I am trying to see what I need to make dimensions of box if port is in instead of out. I just want the best possible setup I can get for what equipment I have.

I am almost done putting together the box, and someone pointed out that the opening looks a smaller than the other opening. I went out and measured it and realized that I made it 20.5 width from side to side of the port, and 22 length. It was supposed to be the other way around tuned at 33hz. Will this mess it up too much? Is there anything I can do to fix it? What would the tuning be at? Will this lower or higher the tuning? will it mess with the sound too much? I knew I fudgeed it up... I'm so pissed Btw, The length is of the top of the port. If you need, the sides go back 25.5, and height of 5.75

I want to design a ported enclosure with one DD9512g to put in my single cab chevy 1500. I want it to be loud, but also as musical as possible. I have about 3.3 cuft to work with. The enclosure is going to be a center console enclosure. If I find the frequency which my vehicle peaks at, will this help me choose my tuning frequency of my enclosure?

I need help with a box spec for my 2 Sundown Audio SA-15s. Its going into a Izusu Rodeo. My goal is to hit over 150db. The box needs to be 6 to 8 cubic feet, port tuned to 35hz and max width is 41". I looking for a box that i can use as a daily driver and for competitions. I would appreciate the help.

I'm going to be building a box for my friends Ram. Aero ports seem to be the only way to port this box but I've never used them before so im looking for a little help. Box will be going under the rear seat. Hey, i currently have my box in about 1.6 cubes to low 30's, and Mike told me that 2cubes net at 34 would give me more output. I want to make sure i won't lose SQ, but i might give this a try. Will i gain much output with this change? Will i still have excellent SQ? I searched a ton on here and caraudio.com and read up on ports, square inches of port area, etc, and i used various calculators. I used the calc on maximacar.com, which is the best i have seen. The box dimensions are: 24x14.5x15 with a 4 inch by 11" port. The calculator takes into account woofer displacement and displacement of the port, and it comes out to 2.29gross, and 2.06 net. with making my box for four 15 subs sounds great but i have a slot port at bottom of the box and when the bass hits hard the middle inside of box flexs and makes a vibe sound. how should i brace this with out change the tune of the box?
