I finished my fiberglass box yesterday for 1 15" icon yesterday, kinda anyway. Its a little on the small side at 1.8 cubes. I plan on adding some polyfill to bring it up to ssa's specs for 2-2.5 cubes. I just dont know how much to add, I have a 20 oz bag of polyfill at the house. Any advice?

This may come out the most newb question on earth. When running multiple woofers, do you need a amp that is ratted to power the RMS of each woofer or both woofers? In my case, for 2 btls, to run both off one amp do I need a 4,000RMS amp or a 2,000RMS amp? or should I just be looking at individual amps like strapping 2 sundown 1500s together? I've been looking at the sundowns and the rockford 2000 and 4000 amps.

I'm trying to figure out my next box. The program I'm using is tells me that my port will be 5Tx10Wx17.5D. Now how much of an effect will it have if I was to change the opening to 3.5Tx11.5Wx17.5D?? I'm looking to tune it to 34Hz. Thx from the help.

  6. Never used allthread in a high pressure install so need some small tips in this area. I know that when allthread is ran from one side to another that washers and nuts are used on both sides of a wall. So that means 1 run of allthread will have 4 washers and 4 nuts on it. What kind of washers and nuts am i suppose to use inside of the box to prevent them from coming loose? I looked at nylon lock nuts but i cant use those on the inside because to get the nuts on the inside, you have to roll em on before you slide the allthread through the other wall. So, roll nut one way then back the other way to lock in place... nylon nuts appear to only roll in one direction so i dont k…

Today's massive frames and motors add challenges to designing enclosures these days. What is the general "rule of thumb" for the minimum acceptable distance from the back of the woofer's motor/pole piece vent hole and the back wall of the enclosure, or a port wall? I'm playing around with different designs for an older Rockford Fosgate T210D4. I can handle the designs myself, I just need some input in this area. Thanks in advance!

  8. Started by SKEEMASK,

I have a 97' Thunderbird that Im doing now. I wanted either a pair of Fi BTL12s or Fi BL15s. I want the BL15s because I would save a lil money on power and can be used in other areas such as the build, elec system, etc..... But the enclosure size needed is kinda on the large size for my trunk. But I can fit them in there if I angle the baffle and use 2-6" aero ports. My real question is I was reading on another forum that a guy with a mustang (which is basically the same trunk as mine) had success with his subs facing forward and his aeros on the side. He said that subs back/port side was the loudest on the meter but subs forward/port side was the loudest to ear. Has anyb…

I'm thinking about making a box for some older Rockford RFP1408's that I have, they are 200 watts RMS each, the only wood I have is a 30"x60" sheet of 1" MDF and another smaller sheet of 3/4" MDF. So, I'm gonna use the 1" sheet for most of the box, and the small 3/4" sheet for the front. 1.25 Cubic feet 1" x 11" port tuned to 33hz What do you think?

Hey all... got another question here . If you use aero ports, is it possible to build the box smaller in relation to a box with slot ports, or is the port displacement the same for both types? Thanks

Hey, i currently have my box in about 1.6 cubes to low 30's, and Mike told me that 2cubes net at 34 would give me more output. I want to make sure i won't lose SQ, but i might give this a try. Will i gain much output with this change? Will i still have excellent SQ? I searched a ton on here and caraudio.com and read up on ports, square inches of port area, etc, and i used various calculators. I used the calc on maximacar.com, which is the best i have seen. The box dimensions are: 24x14.5x15 with a 4 inch by 11" port. The calculator takes into account woofer displacement and displacement of the port, and it comes out to 2.29gross, and 2.06 net. With the box being 1…

First time building ported enclosure, I would have someone build it but I'd cost too much to ship and sounds like a fun project, sorry Argent hmm, scratch that the box volume is going to be 7.66cuft I used the port calculator at 12volt, port width: 30" port height: 2" port length: 13" tuning: 33hz I drew up this pic so that someone could tell me if "B" is part of the port length or what (p.s. picture is not in proportion to dimensions, just general.) So would A+B=13" or is A 13" and B is?

Well i have this 8in sub laying around i was able to get a old school 160A2 rockford fostgate amp for $20 . I thought it would be best to build a box for it than to buy some cheap one so i could get all the bass i could from this little sub . So what i have in mind is building a ported box for best spl . This is going in the trunk of my mustang. But i cannot find any blue print for a small like 1.00cu or smaller enclosure . So if some one could give me some or just send them my way i would be very thankful.

  25. Come summer/next fall id like to hit a few competitions and then head to daytona even next spring break. Because ill be finished with online classes and im officially done with soccer. the onlything preoccupieing my time will be work and cross country. As for ocmpeating, im doing competition on a budget. Id like to run my BX1205D it even less for power and run maybe a pair of 12's. Im thinking a pair of 187 12's in a 4th order bandpass. Ive always wanted to build "The Wicked One" to see how it performed. The 187's seem like a good canidate. Reletively high efficency, good Xmax, and reletively low inductance. For Competition i would build one with a wider throat for high…
