I would like to buy a laptop, soon. My family's home desktop is very slow and everyone always goes on it and I would like a personal computer with only my things on it. I'm very specific in what I want because there are many factors, I want the laptop to run pretty quickly just not slow. Our desktop is probably 6 to 7 years old now.. So nothing like that lol I want it to have pretty good memory considering I will be using programs like iTunes, adobe, pro tools, audacity etc. Im not going to be playing games on it. I want it to be able to be used for my recording studio, so it should have good memory/speed, USB ports, headphone jack must not be cheaply made for they wi…

  2. School and work has been kickin my ass so bad I have no time for anything else! lol Sucks I don't have as much time as I did to be on here as I did before. So my laptop (HP Envy M6) broke last week. I bought a new hard disk drive since that's what was broke on it. Now I need the windows operating system DVD to reinstall windows. It's over $150 that I've seen online and in Walmart. I really don't have the money to be spending like that since I just bought the HDD for $100. My question is, Does anyone have the installation DVD for windows I could borrow? Doesn't have to be windows 8. I just need something. I would just need to install it then I can return it. I'll even…

Sick of networking BS between my XP & Win 7 machines with some on a domain and some not, so I am going to bite the bullet and upgrade. My hardware (i7 quad) is fine to support it, plan on just adding another hdd so that I can switch boot drives if necessary. The computer will run: Internet - primarily Office suite - Word/Excel/Powerpoint Interface with my Canon video camera & DSLR with associated LIGHT editing Act as a home automation machine - currently 90% of what I have will run on either Absolutely no gaming atm Pretty simple tasks, but what I've read knocks the 64 bit for some availability and capability of running some programs. Curious if there are other l…

<-- Noob I haven't ever had a wireless connection before as my old house was completely wired, considering this I am not sure of the proper & logical way to secure my wireless network. Amusingly, I can use my neighbors both here and at my old house but considering the price of routers these days wanted to install my own for flexibilty. So, any recommendations or primers on doing this the right way? I figure I am not the only one here not in the know so I thought I start a thread. Any input would be appreciated!

I'm going to be getting some money in shortly, and I figured I'd put it towards my music computer to finally get it where I'd want... As it stands, I've got a Dell Poweredge 600SC running XP. 2.4GHz P4, 512MB cache, 256MB RAM. Hard drive right now is a Western Digital 250GB IDE, 8MB cache. Obviously, that's nowhere near enough storage for me. I was thinking about taking advantage of that guy that's selling WD 250GB drives over on CA.com for pretty good prices, Sean's mentioned before that the 2MB cache of those shouldn't cause a problem when searching/during playback...I have three open bays, what would be the easiest way to combine three drives so it looks like one ~750G…

I was looking for advice on a Backup Camera. I have never shopped for one and don't know which specs I need to be looking for. So if anybody could lead me in the right direction, that would be great! I have a Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD. I'm pretty sure it will accept any input from the Camera. My budget would be any where from 50$, to idk, 200$? I don't really know whats a good price for a good solid unit. I'm wanting to invest into this heavily because its really important. When the new window tints, and possibly a wall in the future, I will need a way to see behind me safely and more efficiently.

  9. Here is a song that I have came across today that really has me feeling pretty good about music at the moment. I am most pleased with the type of hard work and skill that has to be put together in order to accomplish such talent. Even if you don't like either music genre's, it is still music that has to be composed together well enough to create good music. Please, do watch, if you already have, then watch it again and appreciate the music one more time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isOBghMbOVk Also, please let me know what you think. (I know I accidentally misspelled genre's in the title, please edit if possible, thanks!)

I got a laptop a couple years ago and now I primarily use it at work or for work-related things. So, now I am looking for something else. No games, no movies, little music ... mainly used for Word/Excel documents and surfing the internet. 17" screen would be great. Price range - somewhere around $1500? Anyone have any suggestions? I have been completely out of the game since I bought mine two years ago so I am unsure as to what is regarded as the best right now. Is it still down to the whole AMD vs. Intel Core 2 Due thing? To be honest I have not looked around much, but I was wondering if anyone had anything off the top of their heads. I will get some model numbers…

Anyone have any thoughts on any laptops, or companies making them. I've always had desktops in the past, and built them, so haven't dealt with any particular brand sucking. Budget is 700, but I'd rather spend closer to 600, may buy used. I don't need a big hard drive, 50gb will suffice. 2gb of ram should be good. Wireless card 802.11 intel based or atheros based is a must. cd and dvd reader, doesn't need to write. screen size, 15" is fine, don't need anything big. good battery life is a plus. In the mean time I'll be reading page after page of laptops on newegg.

Well now that I'm old, I feel I need to become self sufficient. This means getting a new phone, plan and/or network. Any Ideas? I'm Verizon right now, but they are quite expensive. I like T-Mobile and the BlackBerry Pearl Flip, with everything it would be about $80 monthly. I also like the iPhone and AT&T, that would be $199 so start off, I'm not sure on monthly prices though. I need unliminted texting, and about 500 anytime minutes. Any advice?

I have found a couple places that have what I need and dont have a minimum order amount. Has anybody dealt with http://digikey.com/ or http://www.mouser.com/ ?? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
