So I made the switch from one SX12, sealed (scary i know) to two RL-i8s currently sealed in my regular cab truck and need some help getting some more output from the little boogers... my amp is a 81000d and the 8s are D4 wired to 4 ohms to the amp since its unmodded, so I figure about 300 watts a piece on em. The box is sealed right at 1ft^3 net between the 2 seats. I am not competing or anything just looking for some nice LSQ (which these 8s sound great) but I am hoping that you guys can help me with a box design that will get a lot louder. Would it be possible to use a ported box (maybe using round ports) that has sort of a " T " shape to it, going between the fron…

Hello All, Well here is my thing. I really don't have any experience making vented boxes. All I have ever made are sealed. But I think I can build one. I need help with the exact box plans for a RL-p 15" tuned to 18 or 19hz. I need box size, number of ports, length of ports, and size of ports. I am an ameture at building vented boxes so I need the plans. If anyone could help with this it would be much apprecieated. Thank you for looking. Saul_M

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but have been looking into the RL-P's for a long time now. I'm about to buy two 15" RL-P's in a couple of weeks, and I have been looking into boxes lately. Like I said I'm going to be buying two 15's very shortly and I plan on dropping them in a ported box. If I give each sub 3.5cu ft after displacement what should the box be tuned too? Power will be an eD Nine.1 going to each sub. I'll use 3/4" or 1" MDF with bracing and the works... I figured I'd go with an open (non divided) box. The box will be going into the back of a '00 4dr GMC Jimmy... Might go in the '95 4dr Blazer.. not sure yet but I'll be able to fit 7cu ft total in the back n…

hey Just curious how business has been recently. I'm still rockin my double 15" rl-p subs though i think its time to put them in a ported enclosure. They've been running hard in a sealed box for over a year. Wasn't too sure if they'd last this long but i'm still happy with them after all this time. Before SS, i used an adire audio brahma that i loved, but some of you may know, adire went tits up a ways back. Just curious how things at SS have been going, and if my subs ever need to be reconed or something, i can have it done. There are so many people makin subs now days its hard to pick one and beleive your choice was a sound one. I picked adire audio from recomm…

how hot should the cone get? after wanging pretty hard tonite for some reason i decided to feel the cone. i couldn't even keep my hands on them. i unstand that the vc produces heat and aluminum will "wick" the heat away from the "vc" which don't get me wrong, is a good thing. but how how does everyone else get?

  13. i'm coming up with a lot more airspace than i thought i would out of my ta. basically i can make the box anywhere from 2.5 to 3, possibly 3.2 cubic feet, net. (this is sealed) i like deep, low bass as opposed to tight punchy. amp is an elemental designs nine.1. mike told me the sweet spot would be 1.25 to 1.35 net feet, per sub, but i asked the question thinking that i would barely be able to manage 1.25 per sub. so now that i have more options, what do you all think?

How does the SQ of the Rl-i 10 compare to the RL-p12. I know the 12 should go lower. But do the subs have the same sound. I like how my RL-p 12 sounds. I have been thinking about running 2 but with the space I have it would have to be sealed and was thinking about the 10s. the amp I have would be great for 2 10s but for 2 12 I would need more power in a sealed box. I dont think 800w to 2 12 would be enough ported yes but sealed I dont think so. If the 10s sound the same as the 12s I think its a good option. Then use the 12 for HT.I am not letting the 12 go I am keeping. Well thanks for your help Mike J

I was just wondering how low a pair of 12" rli's will go? In the right box how good is thier low extension? Are they able to play clean in the 20hz range? If do get a pair I'd be feeding each one around 400watts.

I have a viper 1200.1 itll do 1200wrms at 1ohm is 600 watts too much for the 8? What amp would you reccomend for 2 of these? I know everyone hates the vs. ?'s but What would be louder 4 RE8's or 2 Rl-8's given there right box and watts.

i've got 2 rl-p's with 1.3 ft^3 each, maybe a few hundredths of a foot less. i put in about 30 or 35 oz of polyfill. i just kind of stuffed it in there whole. am i supposed to tear off smaller pieces before packing it? is 30-35 oz about the right amount? thats net volume, speakers factored in. might be as little as 1.2 net, i never worked the exact numbers for the final dimensions i went with.

  25. Just wondering I have owned a fair portion of tc designed and built drivers and I was wondering how close the Rl-p's are to the old audiomobie evo-r's. They look and I stress look very similar don't know about your coil choice or if you use shorting rings etc. Just wondering because if this product is similar I think I will suggest everyone I know to deal with you since any of the tc product I have had is awsome product with the evo-r's being one of my favs as I have owned a pair of 15's and a 12, also along with evo 10's. All did a great job and this SS gear looks to be on the same page so it should be very good stuff. Thanks for any input
