HOLLA! im considering buying 2 10" RLi-s for my RSX I have a dual box already .70cf x2 (gross) and several amps at my disposal: either 2 10d4s powered by a Diamond D5600.2 (600+watts) or 2 10D2s powered by a Memphis 500d (kinda small amp ?) or I also own an MTX 801D(675w) for 2 10d2s what do you fellas think,i am leaning towards using the 5600.2,due to its SQ charectaristics, but is 300-325w ea to small? is my box too big? thx in advance

Third time's a charm. 1.15^3 net downfired sealed box with 1 pound of polyfill in the center console of my Dodge Ram. First slot vented box was too big and looked awful in there. Second box was sealed (not downfired though) but it had too much air space for the amp I am using. This one is perfect!!!! Dave Matthews Band Live at Central Park plays so deep and so clean I could just sit in there and listen for hours. I've used quite a few other subs in my truck (Brahma, Alpine Type R, RE SX, 12W6, etc) but the RL-p will stay in there. B)

  5. I can't decide between 2 RL-P 12's and 2 eD 13Ov2's. i realize that this board will be biased towards the RL-P But I am hoping to get some insight on what you guys think. I am looking for Output with SQ. I plan on running a ported box at around 32-35hz in the trunk of an Altima. I also plan on firing the subs and port forward trhough the rear seat pass through and sealing of the box from the restof the trunk. I will be running about 600 watts to each sub. Thanks, AS

ookay i was givin this some thought.... if mike is able to special order a blank cone to sign for me, should i have 1 rlp, 2 cubes ported to 32hz w/800w goin into it, or have a dual RLp 1-1.2kw/piece at 1cube sealed (prolly with some pollyfill) im gonna use the same box no matter what: IMO the dual RL-ps would look way hotter, but would there be THAT much acoustical difference? mike said they would be similar, what do you think? the dual setup also gives me an excuse to run an AX2000

Hey all, today i had a chance to meet the infamous Mike from Sound Splinter! I was thinking..."its Mike i actually met mike!!" Great guy to talk to and deal with, extremely down to earth too. ummm oh yea. also got my rl-p from the gb... monster sub... when mike handed the sub to me, i was like "wow. this is heavy." Happyface!!! err upside down? Compared to the canteloupe! La Familia! (Left to right: RL-p, IDQ, RE8, Rainbow CS mid) Midgets the RE8 I like this pic , rlp wants to eat the cs mid. And thanks again mike, for your unbeatable customer service!

just came across a mint old school "signiture" 12". I didn't need it, but I've always wanted and the price was good. Now I have no plans to use it anytime soon. So I wanted to see if I can find an SS box for the RL-p 12" from someone. I need/want all the packing in it as well please. Let me know or if mike you read this and you can let me know what it would cost to ship me one. Thx, Vic.

  11. hehe and i found that if you send 2kw witha 4 ohm series resistance into an rlp in a .6 cubic ft sealed box, it wont overexhurt (sp?) meaning its possible to send 2kw into this driver? or will it reach its thermal limits by then? i found this very interesting its the yellow line... the gray line is for my next box

I have a lincoln navigator and want to have some nice loud subs that hit hard. How would two of the rl-s12's be? And also would a kicker 1500 for each sub be enough to power it?? Suggestions or comments please! thanks.

I know that this new RL-p setup has got to be loud. I know it will be. In the back of my mind I can't quit thinking, oh my gosh what if it isn't?? I keep thinking that a small box woofer doesn't lend itself to getting too loud. I'm coming from a 15" Ascendant Audio Atlas in 4.8NET @ 31hz. What I am wanting out of this setup is the following.... Twice as loud as the Atlas. More authority in the 60-80hz region, where the atlas lacked. By the numbers, it should be at least twice as loud, but I keep thining...its audio, chit doesn't always happen how formulas say, I may be dissapointed. I've got twice the cone area, 6mm more linear excursion, and the output advantage of not…

I got this from over at Sound Domain. Ben Milne is getting together a bunch of woofers and testing them. So far SS's RL-P is going to be a part of the lineup. Here's the thread. http://www.icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php...43&page=1&pp=10 Honestly, Ben is saying the upper echelon of subwoofers. The driver to fill the space in such a testing environment should be the LMT enabled RL-S. I really hope that the RL-S gets in the testing and not the RL-P. If Ben decides he won't let it fly because it's not out at this very moment he's going to be missing out on testing something that is sure to be well talked about in the future.

i was checking out some of the graphs ppl have come up with for their rl-p's in different enclosures. the bigger enclosures seem to have a greater impedance rise. so does that mean if u go with a 3 cube enclosure at like 32 hz with a smaller rise then say a 3.5 cube enclosure at 35 the woofer will be seeing more power throughout the entire frequency range? i always thought that larger enclosures ment deaper and louder bass? kinda new to most of this technical stuff. if anyone could help clear this up it would be greatly appreciated.

So I've read that rather lengthly post over at SIN regarding some of the misconceptions regarding moving mass in relation to sound quality. For the most part the article mentioned that inductance is a far better indicator of potential sound quality than moving mass. (My understanding of inductance being the amount of power that is stored in the vc before it actually uses it) therefor lower number of inductance should indicate superior performance. With this said, how does the RL-P stand up (keep in mind this isn't a bashing post, I've had an RL-P since march and I love it) and what is the difference between lossy inductance and (the other one). The RL-P's inductance numbe…

My Planet Audio T2250D came today, and its purdy. Got it installed and wangin :-D. These babies are pretty damn loud. I have to upgrade my wiring for sure. I've got near 200amps of current draw through 15foot of 4 guage wire, that is chit down to 8 guage wire for another foot to the amp. Ground is all 8 guage. Big 3 hasn't been done yet. 130 amp alt. I figure once I get all the electrical done, I can crank it a tad more, get even louder. As it is now, its NICE. The box is not near braced enough. I'm planning a new box. 5.5 Cubes NET @ 32hz w/ 100in^2 port area and threaded rod bracing. IMO, 30 - 35in^2 port area isn't enough when talking about the kind of power …

  25. Hey guys just looking for some opinions on this. Right now I have a JBL W15GTi in 6.5cuft @ 35Hz running off an Earthquake PHD5000 monoblock. I have a Sony MEX-BT5000 head unit and American Bass 0 gauge wire. So that's my system...anyways the point is I'm getting an 88 Chrysler LeBaron and somehow I just don't see my big box fitting in it. I don't really want to make a smaller box because I like the way it sounds now, plus I'd like to have some trunk space anyway. So this is where I thought of selling my JBL and buying 3 Soundsplinter RL-i 8's in 2 or 3 cubes tuned to 35 ish Hz? I think this would better suit the car and with the surface area of 3 8" cones I could have th…
