  2. Hey, i currently have my box in about 1.6 cubes to low 30's, and Mike told me that 2cubes net at 34 would give me more output. I want to make sure i won't lose SQ, but i might give this a try. Will i gain much output with this change? Will i still have excellent SQ? I searched a ton on here and caraudio.com and read up on ports, square inches of port area, etc, and i used various calculators. I used the calc on maximacar.com, which is the best i have seen. The box dimensions are: 24x14.5x15 with a 4 inch by 11" port. The calculator takes into account woofer displacement and displacement of the port, and it comes out to 2.29gross, and 2.06 net. With the box being 1…

My Planet Audio T2250D came today, and its purdy. Got it installed and wangin :-D. These babies are pretty damn loud. I have to upgrade my wiring for sure. I've got near 200amps of current draw through 15foot of 4 guage wire, that is chit down to 8 guage wire for another foot to the amp. Ground is all 8 guage. Big 3 hasn't been done yet. 130 amp alt. I figure once I get all the electrical done, I can crank it a tad more, get even louder. As it is now, its NICE. The box is not near braced enough. I'm planning a new box. 5.5 Cubes NET @ 32hz w/ 100in^2 port area and threaded rod bracing. IMO, 30 - 35in^2 port area isn't enough when talking about the kind of power …

so i installed my rl-p i.b. again over the weekend, but this time i sealed the rear of the car completely, expanding foam, mdf, rammat etc.(fold down seats) well the sound is amazing and doesnt deteriorate as volume goes up (like it used to before i sealed her up proper) ..my question is this, i experienced a little boominess with my rl-p in a bigger sealed box (1.8 maybe 1.9 before disp)but there is absolutely no boom with the i.b.arrangement? i wonder if the trunk was the reason for the resonance / boom rather than the sub itself? because a sub in a box in a trunk is actually a sub in a box..in another box? i.b. has to be the only way to go if a car has a trunk?.....tho…

First off, I currently have one in a ported box in my truck. I've never owned a sealed box, so I don't know what to expect. I can get 9.5cubes total (before displacement) for the subs. They will be pushed by 2 Infinity 1211a's (one to each). So my question is............ Will I be happy??? I know this is a silly question, and one that really can't be answered till I build it, lol. But it never hurts to try.

I'm writing this mini review to try and convince anyone who who might have the same reservations that i did, not to worry. I'm not real technical so this wont be very technical either. I was concerned about the output from a single 15". I mostly go for SQ, but on the rare occasion i put in a rap cd, i want that chit to get loud..while maintaining SQ. Ive also never owned a vented box, only sealed. So buying something based only on what people say on the net made me a little nervous. I decided to go for it and try a d4 15" in 3.5cf net @ 28hz in my gangster ass escort hatchback I am powering it with a PG xenon x200.4. Bridged down to 2 channels each VC gets a little o…

  10. OK so I have a few uberquality phone pics for now, will post some more real pics later. Built a .49 ft^3 (.4 + .09 for displacement) enclosure out of 3/4 MDF so it'll bolt up to the 'ski hole' on my bimmer. Getting the angle to fit snug against the slope of the back seat was a little tough, but it came out in the end (my first box assembling experience). I did black carpet for the face, as I have black interior. Back of the enlosure is gray to match the carpet in the trunk. Box was screwed shut and glued / sealed using Loctite Construction Adhesive (claims no fumes, but I still let it dry 24 hours). Specs: 5.25" Vifa components in the front doors (fatmat added, more on or…

  11. I can't decide between 2 RL-P 12's and 2 eD 13Ov2's. i realize that this board will be biased towards the RL-P But I am hoping to get some insight on what you guys think. I am looking for Output with SQ. I plan on running a ported box at around 32-35hz in the trunk of an Altima. I also plan on firing the subs and port forward trhough the rear seat pass through and sealing of the box from the restof the trunk. I will be running about 600 watts to each sub. Thanks, AS

I was looking for advise. I think I may be interested in a RL-s 12" for my trunk, but reading the specs and recommendations it seems that it will not fit my needs. Would I be able to fit a RL-s in my 2005 TL without gobbeling up all my trunk space. Should I be leaning more towards a RL-p 12"? Would a RL-p get me good low bass that I'm looking for? Any recommendations on an AMP to push the RL-p? How about an AMP to push a RL-s? Thanks

Whats up guys im new here...I post at carstereo.com alot. I recently bought an rl-p from mike at ss, and just want to say that if the sub sounds as good as his customer service is, I will be impressed!! I get the sub saturday or monday, and I cant wait. I had an aw1205n from audiocrap and I blew it within a day. I had it runnin at 1200 watts at 1 ohm, it couldn't handle it. I am going to run the rlp at 800 watts at 2 ohms. Mike said that would be enough to make the thing slam. Does anyone else run about 800 on their rl-p? Does it pound?

I need subwoofer witch has more than good sound, tight, musically, not just same sound putting out. So i need a HIFI subwoofer I were looking 80litres sealed box with Linkwitz Transform circuit and Linkwitz Riley 24db/okt lowpass filter. -6db point to 15hz. My amplifier works better at 4ohms so 15d2 could be better than 15d4? I got 2x1200w/4ohms or 2x 650w/8ohms. I only use channel A on my amplifier, so i nees 4 ohms to channel A. e: Is that ok? I just want good sound, soundpressure level doesn't matter, 100db is enough for me. On the attachment is my old subwoofer parameters. re 3,656 and bl 22 on my installation.

I have been learning to use winisd beta, and it is really strange how the rlp models. it suggests like a .4 cube box with a port freq of 38hz. When i punch in 2 cubes at 28, it has an odd peak very low, and is like 2-3db down as the freq increases. Conversely, i also have an ED 13ov.2, and it models quite linearly in similar boxes. ( i have run them both in the same box, and they do sound quite similar) any ideas?

I didn't really find any numbers of the Rl-p's and searching didnt help really. If you could, name Car it was in, power, box, and size of Rl-p's.

Has anyone run an RL-s12 or 15 in an IB in car yet? If so, how much power utilizing? LMT is an unusual technology and I don't feel modeling programs and/or spreadsheets properly represent real world performance (that goes for any woofer really). 2000 watts into 3 ohms is hard to come by in a car. The PDX line's regulated output is nice, but max I can get from them is 1000 watts. What are you guys running?

Well i have one rl-p 18 that is still pretty stiff even after a year of use. And today i just found another one at a pawn shop and picked it up for a really really low price. the coils are fine, both read 2.0, theres no rips or tears in the spider/surround. Now that i have 2 i really want to run them both in a sealed enclosure, but im worried they might play somewhat out of phase due to the one from the pawn shop having a looser suspension. Could this happen or am i just worrying too much? thanks!

Ok, after tearin apart my truck I found alot of space and it'd be a pity not to use it, so thinking ported on the rlp18's now instead of sealed. Wanted to see what people suggest. Mike says 5 at 27hz on the website, and has said 4 to 7 cubes in the stickied thread. While i see people talk about going in the 7 to 8ft range I'm thinking smaller might be where its at for me. I've got enough power (saz-3000) so I don't need a large box for efficiency reasons, I'm thinking I wouldn't need to tune that low either. I listen to mostly metal/rock and occasionally some oldschool hiphop, so I think these 18's will give me than enough lows for what I want no matter what. I might…
