Finally found a RL-i8 for sale but it is a D4. I have been gifted a Audison VRX 1.500 from my cousin. The amp puts out 500 watts into 4 ohms and 1000 watts into 2 ohms. The sub will be used in a sealed enlosure built with SQ as the most important quality. SPL is NOT a concern of mine. Ideally a single 4 ohm driver with 500 watts would be ideal but I haven't been able to find one. So is 1000 watts too much for a RL-i8 D4?

I am buying 2 RL-i 8's in the next few days and I'm trying to come up with designs for the new box. I have a 2004 silverado regular cab, with a center console that houses a Fi/SX hybrid right now. Im thinking of the same concept but build the box downfiring and ported. The console would be much bigger than the actual speaker box, I would just have the box built into the bottom part of the console and maybe glass the top following the contour of the seats. The box size would be 25*14.5*10 with a regular L-port. The total cubic foot after port and speaker displacement should be roughly 1.2 ft^3 tuned to 35 Hz. Is that too big for these subs? Any ideas for a box design …

I'm writing this mini review to try and convince anyone who who might have the same reservations that i did, not to worry. I'm not real technical so this wont be very technical either. I was concerned about the output from a single 15". I mostly go for SQ, but on the rare occasion i put in a rap cd, i want that chit to get loud..while maintaining SQ. Ive also never owned a vented box, only sealed. So buying something based only on what people say on the net made me a little nervous. I decided to go for it and try a d4 15" in 3.5cf net @ 28hz in my gangster ass escort hatchback I am powering it with a PG xenon x200.4. Bridged down to 2 channels each VC gets a little o…

So I finally got the courage to buy some quality speakers (my first REAL setup to me). Mike was extremely quick and helpful, and today I got a nice surprise in the form of 2 12" RL-p's waiting for me. I was slacking, honestly didn't think the subs would come in already, so me and a friend put together a box for it today. Right now its sealed with individual chambers for each sub. 1.92 cubes before displacement and 1.74 cubes after. Would it be worth it to port this? If I port it then I MIGHT be able to get 1.5cubes for each sub, but maybe less. Right now I'll be running each sub at 400watts RMS each, how will it perform in the current sealed setup? I really wish I had bui…

Has anyone run an RL-s12 or 15 in an IB in car yet? If so, how much power utilizing? LMT is an unusual technology and I don't feel modeling programs and/or spreadsheets properly represent real world performance (that goes for any woofer really). 2000 watts into 3 ohms is hard to come by in a car. The PDX line's regulated output is nice, but max I can get from them is 1000 watts. What are you guys running?

Right now, I'm running the RLp in a 2.5 ported box, tuned to 30hz via two four inch aero's. The output is pretty decent, and the response is still fairly linear. Right now, I'm itching to redo my trunk...again...to a bigger box. I plan a 3.5 cu ft tuned to 30 hz, with 57.75 sq inch of port area. Will I notice a big increase in output? I already drew out the box plans, just debating if I want t go through with it since school is a b*tch right now. Any insights is appreciated. Thanks.

this is what i got in a g35, i believe stock alt is 90 amps: xenon 100x2 zed deuce 800x1 rl-p d2 in 1.35 sealed box. finally installed my rl-p d2. and i just love the way it sounds. problem is... when i turn the volume halfway to where i want, my lights starts dimming already. i'm like wtf! my '91 mazda minivan had a better charging system! i may have overshot a little by buying the zed deuce, but i didn't think it would be this bad. i'm so pissed i bought all this chit and can't even use it to its potential. i've read that replacing the big 3 will help...but how much really? i'm thinking of maybe porting...or worse, having to go with another brand that's mor…

Im "considering" getting my front doors redone via fiberglass and setting up a strong front stage. Comps up top, with some RLi 8s in a sealed atleast 0.4cu ft enclosure per door. Depending on the amp still havnt decided if im going to go with SVC of DVC as of yet. Going to give them atleast 150rms per to work with, maybe even upward 300+ should my elec system support it. Upto what freq range would the 8s be able to go upto? I was thinking upto atleast 200hz, still open to debat on what to cross them at. As for the comps, im leaning heavliy towards a set of rainbows...undecided which ones atm. From the looks of things is going to be atleas a 600+ rms front stage should thi…

Well, right now they are housed in 5.5NET @ 37hz w/ 70in^2 port area. Not what I call an ideal box. They are loud, but not by my standards. New box will be had in less than a month 6 Cubes NET, 33hz, 91in^ port area and threaded rod bracing. The port velocity in the current box is ridiculous, blows harder than fudge, and has got to be hurting my output. Also I have serious flex issues, like the baffle actually has an xmax :-p. From what I've seen out of them thus far, I have a feeling that in about 1 month, I am going to be very, very loud.

Any input would be appreciated. In the market for some new drivers. Since I've had so much success with the RL-i8, I thought I would try out the 10s . Option 1.) 3 RL-i10's. Sealed .48ft^3 net volume each. 433 watts rms each. Orion 1200d @ .67ohms. Option 2.) 2 RL-i10's. Sealed .53ft^3 net volume each. 650 watts rms each. Orion 1200d @ 1ohm. Main question is about the Orion. Will it be stable @ .67ohms. I don't know how impedance rise effectively changes in a small sealed box. I don't see the enclosure space difference of .05ft^3 effecting much low end output. Any thoughts? Advice? Opinions? Love to hear what you guys would suggest Thanks Adam

Factory recommendations: Acceptable: 0.4 - 0.95 cu ft net volume sealed 0.3 - 1.2 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 22 - 36 Hz Optimal Car: 0.65 cu ft net volume sealed 0.45 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 27 Hz I notice that the optimal vented box is smaller than the optimal sealed. I was thinking going sealed b/c of space issues but if going ported will really be smaller should I do this. Im also thinking aero ports and need some information on how to calculate what size I would need to tune to 27 hz. Does anyone own an rl-i if so what kind of box is it in?

i went to my local alpine dealership to get my RL-p15 metered in my '93 Explorer and I managed to get 141.5dbs. my box is 2.5ft^3 @34Hz powered by a JL 1800d amp. I was being cautious though with my amp 1/2 power and the gains on the deck conservative. ive only had the sub for about month so i didnt want to risk something going wrong. the suprise was when i hooked up a single audiobahn AW1206T afterwards and hit a 138.6. it was in a 2.3 ft^3 @36Hz. i thought that was pretty decent for a $120ish sub. absolutely no competition in SQ though. RL-ps are something else. when i play System of a Down's "BYOB", it hit every single drum note. i'll try and post some pics of the se…

Recently purchased a used RLP 15, and have my eye on another one online. I have a friend whos going to build me a nice ported box for the subs, but until I can get the rest of the money for that, I wanted to try it sealed based on the reviews I have heard. I have a sealed box I had a pair of Kicker Comp VRs in but heres my question. The box is only 1.95 cubic feet per chamber, ( suppose to be 2.0 but is off just a lil bit) I know the displacement of the RLP 15 is 0.18 cubic feet, would I be choking the sub in that box? I thought about inverting it, to save on some space inside the box. This would only be a temp install until I can get my ported box completed. Also, im g…

okay, im lookin at gettin 2 RL-i's for my truck (87 mazda b2200) i want it to wang like hell. problem is ive got only enuff for the tens right now. and im tryna build something over time. ive always wanted tens, and saw the site cuz of reccomendations at CA.com. would this be a good setup to fiberglass? or would it be happier in MDF? ill probably stick to sealed, i wont get metered but i want it to hit pretty good. my ears ring on 2 w3's and 500/1 and thats sorta what i base everything off of, being its the only quality system around my area. everything else is audioblown

http://www.soundsplinter.com/images/videos...-RLi10-porn.WMV The above video was taken in low light with a camera I'm unfamiliar with. Hopefully in the future I will master that damn camera and get some clearer pictures up here. The woofer in the picture is running in a sealed enclosure with another RL-i10, off of a bridged Pioneer amplifier feeding each woofer approximately 190 wrms. The volume on the Pioneer head unit during the video is at approximately 50% - I'll get something more impressive up here sometime soon Well now that we've been up and running solid for a few months, I know there's others out there with these bad boys. So.. Where the hell are the pic's?…

Mike do you have the Leap graphs for the RL-p like you have on the website for the RL-i? I looked for them in the forum but I might have missed them.. just wanted to see what it looked like with the QTS of this driver, since the specs lends it much more to ported I am curious of the different response levels of the 3 different ported and 3 different sealed, if you dont have it on hand no biggie, just was curious, and wanted to maybe try different enclosures, and if so maybe push it to a large sealed enclosure to test it out, (just so you know I am hating myself for not being able to test out the RL-s)
