I am getting a blown RL-P 12 from a friend and plan on reconing it. I could send it in, but reconing is something that i have really wanted to try myself and i think that this is a good opportunity. I know that i can't but the parts directly from soundsplinter, but i would imagine there are a few options for parts. My question is, if i plan on running the single driver to my MTX 81000d, should i go for a D2 or D4 setup? At 4 ohms my amp is rated at 500rms @ 12.5 volts. At 2 ohms, it's 1000rms @ 12.5, and from what i have heard they were fairly underrated. so for the hell of it assuming i can give the woofer either 600 watts or 1200 watts ballpark, which should i go for? i…

Just wondering where is SoundSplinter located and if it is possible to pick up a sub in person to save on shipping costs. Also, I have an '01 Accord sedan and I'm thinking of going with a single RL-p 18" driver. It will be pushed by a DLS A6 at 1 ohm (1200w). Is it better to go sealed or ported? I just took out my DD 9515 and the enclosure for that is 5.5 cubes net I believe. I really want to get loud when needed. I did a 140.4 recently with a Kicker ZX 2500.1 so I'm looking to get into the 140's with the RL-p on the A6. Is it possible? Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm either gonna use the RL-p 18 or a 12" Brahma MKI. Brahma will be gettin same power …

Mike do you have the Leap graphs for the RL-p like you have on the website for the RL-i? I looked for them in the forum but I might have missed them.. just wanted to see what it looked like with the QTS of this driver, since the specs lends it much more to ported I am curious of the different response levels of the 3 different ported and 3 different sealed, if you dont have it on hand no biggie, just was curious, and wanted to maybe try different enclosures, and if so maybe push it to a large sealed enclosure to test it out, (just so you know I am hating myself for not being able to test out the RL-s)

well, i used to have a pair of the RL-i 8s, i wanted to know how the orphan 8's compared to the RL-i's, i was thinking about getting 3 of them, but not sure if they would get as low, pound as hard, get as loud and sound as clean as the RL-i's.

Im "considering" getting my front doors redone via fiberglass and setting up a strong front stage. Comps up top, with some RLi 8s in a sealed atleast 0.4cu ft enclosure per door. Depending on the amp still havnt decided if im going to go with SVC of DVC as of yet. Going to give them atleast 150rms per to work with, maybe even upward 300+ should my elec system support it. Upto what freq range would the 8s be able to go upto? I was thinking upto atleast 200hz, still open to debat on what to cross them at. As for the comps, im leaning heavliy towards a set of rainbows...undecided which ones atm. From the looks of things is going to be atleas a 600+ rms front stage should thi…

I am aware that the SS rl-s utilizes TCsounds LMS system, but I am not sure if the Rl-p series does as well. Anybody have the knowledge here?

Has anyone run an RL-s12 or 15 in an IB in car yet? If so, how much power utilizing? LMT is an unusual technology and I don't feel modeling programs and/or spreadsheets properly represent real world performance (that goes for any woofer really). 2000 watts into 3 ohms is hard to come by in a car. The PDX line's regulated output is nice, but max I can get from them is 1000 watts. What are you guys running?

Been itchin to go ported for a long time now, since I've never heard my RLp 15 ported before. Whats the smallest volume (before port area) would you guys go for a ported setup?

Right now, I'm running the RLp in a 2.5 ported box, tuned to 30hz via two four inch aero's. The output is pretty decent, and the response is still fairly linear. Right now, I'm itching to redo my trunk...again...to a bigger box. I plan a 3.5 cu ft tuned to 30 hz, with 57.75 sq inch of port area. Will I notice a big increase in output? I already drew out the box plans, just debating if I want t go through with it since school is a b*tch right now. Any insights is appreciated. Thanks.

okay, im lookin at gettin 2 RL-i's for my truck (87 mazda b2200) i want it to wang like hell. problem is ive got only enuff for the tens right now. and im tryna build something over time. ive always wanted tens, and saw the site cuz of reccomendations at CA.com. would this be a good setup to fiberglass? or would it be happier in MDF? ill probably stick to sealed, i wont get metered but i want it to hit pretty good. my ears ring on 2 w3's and 500/1 and thats sorta what i base everything off of, being its the only quality system around my area. everything else is audioblown

I am buying 2 RL-i 8's in the next few days and I'm trying to come up with designs for the new box. I have a 2004 silverado regular cab, with a center console that houses a Fi/SX hybrid right now. Im thinking of the same concept but build the box downfiring and ported. The console would be much bigger than the actual speaker box, I would just have the box built into the bottom part of the console and maybe glass the top following the contour of the seats. The box size would be 25*14.5*10 with a regular L-port. The total cubic foot after port and speaker displacement should be roughly 1.2 ft^3 tuned to 35 Hz. Is that too big for these subs? Any ideas for a box design …

1st Would 800wrms be ok for a RL-s 12" sub in a sealed box at 2cu. I would like to try one out but not sure if I have the power. 2nd RL-i 8s I have them in my car now in a .4cu each sealed they sound real nice. I miss the overpowering bass of the RL-p12 ported. I do like the sound of these sealed . I would like to know what you think the most power they could handle in a seal box. I like the little room they take up. I was thinking about getting a bigger amp for them. right now they are getting 400wrms each do you think they could take 600-700 each or is this not a good idea. Thanks for your help. Mike J

So I've read that rather lengthly post over at SIN regarding some of the misconceptions regarding moving mass in relation to sound quality. For the most part the article mentioned that inductance is a far better indicator of potential sound quality than moving mass. (My understanding of inductance being the amount of power that is stored in the vc before it actually uses it) therefor lower number of inductance should indicate superior performance. With this said, how does the RL-P stand up (keep in mind this isn't a bashing post, I've had an RL-P since march and I love it) and what is the difference between lossy inductance and (the other one). The RL-P's inductance numbe…

Hey all, today i had a chance to meet the infamous Mike from Sound Splinter! I was thinking..."its Mike i actually met mike!!" Great guy to talk to and deal with, extremely down to earth too. ummm oh yea. also got my rl-p from the gb... monster sub... when mike handed the sub to me, i was like "wow. this is heavy." Happyface!!! err upside down? Compared to the canteloupe! La Familia! (Left to right: RL-p, IDQ, RE8, Rainbow CS mid) Midgets the RE8 I like this pic , rlp wants to eat the cs mid. And thanks again mike, for your unbeatable customer service!

Well, the 15s will be here yesterday and I haven't built a box yet. I've got a 4.8 cube NET @ 31hz box that was for my atlas 15...I was thinking of using it w/ one of the rl-p and running it at 500 rms since that is all I have available at the time. How do the RL-ps react to a too big box? Will it be alright sounding or should I not even go through the trouble of rigging it up?? (Rigging it up consists of switching some amps around b/c I don't have an amp for the subs, I'd have to use my SoundStream which on the highs right now, then take my xtant 1.1i and bridge the fronts into 1 channel) Max fudge around time of 2 hours, but j/w if it'll wang at all.
