Finally got the enclosures finished and in the house. Each box is 10^3 @19Hz with a single 8" port and RL-P 15. Port fires up and subs are down firing. I'm about 50/50 HT and music, so I think the higher tune is a good balance. So far I've been VERY impressed and the subs are only getting 400watts each off a Hypex plate amp. Couldn't imagine what 800+ to each one would sound like. Music has punch, hits low, and gets plenty loud with excellent SQ. Has no trouble keeping up with 6 Klipsch Legends. Also got to demo the depth charge scene from U-571 tonight. Neighbor was over and his jaw hit the floor. Much louder than the 4 Tempests they replaced. GF said the whole house fe…

I got the sub metered this weekend at a show. The mic was a TL, legal, on the dash, windows, doors, etc, close. 149.0 peak, 148.4 average, tones. With music it did a 147.6. Not to bad for a SQ orientated sub.

I ported the box, and headed out to a local show today. First run was a 137.2. After that I tweaked the amp, and moved the box around for the second run. We came in second place with a 139.6. Keep in mind, this is with 2 Sound Splinters 8" & a Directed 1500D. Here's a pic (Amy Cano). I took this cause I couldn't stay for the cirts to be handed out.

As most of us know the RL-i 8 is not avaliable anymore. It is being revamped by Mike to be made that much better. So far, all i know about the new RL-i 8 is the surround will be changed to something softer, yes, no more high rol. As well as a different spider. But what about that cone ????? I love the spun black aluminum on all the other woofers. The old RL-i 8 used the not so nice painted aluminum cone. Any chance in getting the new one to have that sweet spun blacK aluminum ?

hey I just bought 2 12" rlps and I cant wait to get them goin. The thing is I still need to get an amp and I am not sure which to get. If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to keep it under 300. Also if someone could help me out with box dimensions as I am thinking of building it myself. I would like to do 2 cubes tuned to 28hz ported. Thanks and I can't wait!!! Denny

I was over on another forum and someone suggested the rl-i10. Gotta say thats a beefy looking 10". If I were to order 1 what size sealed box would be ideal for the best possible LOUD SOUND QUALITY? I would be giving it a good 500RMS of a Memphis 500D. On a side note how would this sub compare to a basic mainstream 12" sub? Matt

Hi, this is my first time posting on this forum, but have been viewing it for a while, so excuse any ignorance if any. A few weeks ago i was in the market for a single or pair of 15"s and was heavily considering sound splinter, but ended up getting a pair of 07 Orion HCCAS instead becuase of a great deal. However, i use my girl's car quite a bit too and would like a great system in it also. So my attention is on the Rl-S again. I would just like to know if this sub would be perfect for me and my listening tastes. I listen to mainly Dancehall reggae, soca and hip hop. I'm definately not an SQ fan, more so LSQ, i like looowww, ground shaking bass. The loudest previous syste…

I was in the middle of insulting the spam bot, and a mod deleted the thread. It was going to be epic in a stereotypical white boy way.

OK, I know ported would be most peoples choice, lol. Here's the thing. I can get 8.5cubes if I keep the box below the window & seat line. That is ideally what I would love to have. That would be enough to go sealed with my 2 RL-p 18"s. My problem is, I know how I am with my bass, and I don't know if I'm going to be satisfied with a sealed box. The only way I could do a ported box is by doing a wall. I can get more than 18cubes if I went that way. My problem with that is, I like looking out my back window, lol. Not to mention that in competitions it puts me in a higher class. I don't want that either, lol. I know I'm being difficult here, but I figured I would ask just…

Ok, as you may or may not know, SS has eliminated the dual 2ohm/coil version from their Rl-p line up. However, Mike as allowed us to organize a group buy, where he will special order a run of D2 Rl-p's for those interested. As always, rules apply, and here they are as set out by Mike; So, first things first, we need to guage interest in this group buy (as it is specified that a minimum of 15 orders must be placed), and a decision on the size of driver must be made (as it will only apply to either the 12" or 15", but not both). So, please cast your vote and say if you are definitely in.

I have a 2002 S-10 2 door Blazer. Right now i have a pioneer slim sub and box built to fit behind a reg cab s10. Well the 12 is going bye bye to a fellow truck club memeber and i want to have the best of both worlds. 1. Bass 2. Space (cargo) So my question is, what is the smallest box i can go for a rl-i8??? Also will this amp be suffecient? SPA120.2 Circuitry - Class AB technology 4 ohm @ 14.4 - 2 x 120 watts 4 ohm bridged @ 14.4 - 1 x 500 watts 2 ohm @ 14.4 - 2 x 240 watts Capability - 2 ohm stereo Thanks, Jon

an 18" RL-P i was gonna go with a beefy 12" but i said to myself, what the heck....ill just go bigger! i need to save up the money first, then I will pull the trigger. Its going into a 4 cube sealed box, powered off an MD1D giving it oh, around 6-700w. (let me know if any of this sounds like it will not be good) couple of questions: 1. Can i have it with the laser etched logo + sig (cuz i heard that the laser thing is for a small run) 2. going from a 1.7 cube tuned to 34 hz 12" to a 4 cube sealed 18" will i be missing low end even if it is a 18" sub 3. will 6-700w be enough to get the sub moving good? thanks! woot! im glad its gonna fit.
