  4. hehe and i found that if you send 2kw witha 4 ohm series resistance into an rlp in a .6 cubic ft sealed box, it wont overexhurt (sp?) meaning its possible to send 2kw into this driver? or will it reach its thermal limits by then? i found this very interesting its the yellow line... the gray line is for my next box

spent saturday at my friends house so he can help me build a front baffle for my pre-existing box. here's a pic we took when we put stuff in for a test it. still debating whether or not to invert the sub. it looks clean either way. we will take more pics as the project resumes (damn carpet place was closed for the weekend)

I'm trying to understand ported boxes and trying to find somthing i'll like for my 12" RL-p D2 thats powered with 600watts. What would be the difference between a ported box that is 1.75@32hz VS one that is 2.0@27hz? or one that is even at 2.0@32hz? Which one would u go for? I'm confused with box size and tuning freq. Thanks for any help you may give

  10. I have a Directed 1500d running 1 ohm @ 1100 watts on my single rlp 15" sealed. The amp is kinda ugly and I have an Orion 8004 running my front stage. I would like to buy another Orion to run my sub. I can grab a Orion 1200d what do you guys think?

i know were no supposed to, but 1.these proto 8s i have right now are simply amazing. 2. the rl-p 12 gets noticeably lower than the 8s. the orion 2500d that will arrive shortly is probably dangerous for either the 12 or the pair of 8s, but if i ran all 3 could it work, the 8s giveing me that awesome 'snappy' flavor, and the 12 that 'evil' low it does so well? all shareing 2500wrms? all sealed? i have read we cant mix sub sizes but what the hell, ive been told alot of things in my life and i never listened to it then? im gonna try it, how do i configure (wire) (2) 6 ohm subs and (1) dual 4 ohm sub to get the best from an orion 2500D? series parallel/paraleel...i cant even…

hey I just bought 2 12" rlps and I cant wait to get them goin. The thing is I still need to get an amp and I am not sure which to get. If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to keep it under 300. Also if someone could help me out with box dimensions as I am thinking of building it myself. I would like to do 2 cubes tuned to 28hz ported. Thanks and I can't wait!!! Denny

Whats up guys im new here...I post at carstereo.com alot. I recently bought an rl-p from mike at ss, and just want to say that if the sub sounds as good as his customer service is, I will be impressed!! I get the sub saturday or monday, and I cant wait. I had an aw1205n from audiocrap and I blew it within a day. I had it runnin at 1200 watts at 1 ohm, it couldn't handle it. I am going to run the rlp at 800 watts at 2 ohms. Mike said that would be enough to make the thing slam. Does anyone else run about 800 on their rl-p? Does it pound?

  15. I can't decide between 2 RL-P 12's and 2 eD 13Ov2's. i realize that this board will be biased towards the RL-P But I am hoping to get some insight on what you guys think. I am looking for Output with SQ. I plan on running a ported box at around 32-35hz in the trunk of an Altima. I also plan on firing the subs and port forward trhough the rear seat pass through and sealing of the box from the restof the trunk. I will be running about 600 watts to each sub. Thanks, AS

I'm writing this mini review to try and convince anyone who who might have the same reservations that i did, not to worry. I'm not real technical so this wont be very technical either. I was concerned about the output from a single 15". I mostly go for SQ, but on the rare occasion i put in a rap cd, i want that chit to get loud..while maintaining SQ. Ive also never owned a vented box, only sealed. So buying something based only on what people say on the net made me a little nervous. I decided to go for it and try a d4 15" in 3.5cf net @ 28hz in my gangster ass escort hatchback I am powering it with a PG xenon x200.4. Bridged down to 2 channels each VC gets a little o…

What can I say? This sub is amazing. It drools with SQ. When I first installed this sub I had never heard a SQ designed sub/enclosure. I was a little let down by the lack of SPL. Then I realized what SQ subs/enclosures are all about and set my amp up properly and I really started digging the sound. It blends in perfectly and so damn accurately. Over the weekend I spent the day installing the raammat and good lord I'm so happy with the results. The bass hits harder and deeper and more solid. It just feels better. I can't imagine how hard this thing would hit in a ported enclose tuned to say 28Hz. it would be insane. As it is it makes my hair move. What I like is how deep …

Any input would be appreciated. In the market for some new drivers. Since I've had so much success with the RL-i8, I thought I would try out the 10s . Option 1.) 3 RL-i10's. Sealed .48ft^3 net volume each. 433 watts rms each. Orion 1200d @ .67ohms. Option 2.) 2 RL-i10's. Sealed .53ft^3 net volume each. 650 watts rms each. Orion 1200d @ 1ohm. Main question is about the Orion. Will it be stable @ .67ohms. I don't know how impedance rise effectively changes in a small sealed box. I don't see the enclosure space difference of .05ft^3 effecting much low end output. Any thoughts? Advice? Opinions? Love to hear what you guys would suggest Thanks Adam

I should be receiving my 12" RL-P tomorrow sometime and would like to try and get the box built for it this weekend. I've read more times than I can count that the RL-P loves to be ported, so that is definately the type of box I am leaning towards. And I want to try donwfiring since it will be in an extended cab truck. I should start by saying I have very limited dimensions but can still get the required space. The dimensions I can use are, no more than 26" high, 21" across, and 14" deep up to about 14" high and 10" deep from there up. Kinda hard to visualize? shape would kinda resemble a chair. My questions are as follows: With downfiring would the port direction matter?…

  25. Hey everyone. I have a sealed enclosure with 1 SS RL-p 15 d2. The internal air space is 2.25 cu. ft. I have a Directed 1500D hooked up to it putting 1100wrms @ 1ohm It sounds amazing now that I set the amp up properly. I'm very happy. Now to the question: I have two 1 lb bags of poly fill. By tossing both bags in the enclosure it would trick the sub into thinking its in a 2.7 cu. ft. box (round about). I was wondering what effect you think this would have on the sound? I don't want to pull my sub out and try it if its not going to do anything for my setup. What do you guys think would happen sq wise and output wise?
