hey, i am going to build one more box for my 12 rl-p. I currently have it in a box that i believe is around 1.6 in low 30's, but it seems like it has a little port noise. I tried around 2 cubes at 30hz, and it seemed to lose some output, but i only had 1 4" port. Anyway, i am trying to figure out what to do now, but my main question is: How wide does my port need to be? Is a 2" slot port that is 14" tall good enough? it is way more than the required 20 sq in of port area. Also, if i do tube port, is one 4" areo enough? It is only like 14 sq in so i figure it probably isn't. What would one recommend for a tube port? 3 3"? 1 6" would be awesome but insanely large…

I have a dual 2 ohm 12'' RL-P. I use a directed 1100D directed amp. I'm going tgo wire it for a 1 ohm load. So that would be 1100 watts at 1ohm. I'll keep my gains set right so i dont over power it. I listen to mostly rock, and trance music. but on the occasion i listen to some rap and stuff. I want to do a sealed box. what should the volume be? Thanks guys!

Would the 12" Rl-p perform well infinite baffle? It has a nice low Fs, but the Qts looks a bit low. But, hey, since these model up horribly in box programs, I figure it'd be better to ask than assume/try to model :4123357f3da0f6e125a54:

2 ft^3 tuned to 28Hz with 30 in^2 of port area. Never took any pics of the build though Click on the pic for a bigger one. Still needs to be sanded off and finished. Used a mixture of glue and MDF dust to seal it up, works great, and so easy to sand. Need to fill the screw holes, and cover. This might turn into just a test mule box, not sure yet what I want to do yet. Here is the box design (Excel spreadsheet): Click Here Pr0n available soon.

I have an amplifier that is rated 400 watts RMS @ 2ohms. I also have a 1.8 cu ft vented enclosure tuned to 30 hz. Is this a good match for a 12" RL-p or would I need more power? I saw that this sub is rated between 500-1000wrms. Thanks

Well, I'm seriously considering picking up a Soundsplinter 12" RL-p to play around with some. I want to stick with using a sealed box, but after glancing at the sub's specs I'm a little worried that it's sealed performance may not be up-to-par (low Qts and high EBP). When I used a Qtc calc to figure out box size required for a Qtc of ~.707, it said I needed a 0.291cuft enclosure, and gives me an F3 of 79.93hz It's like it specs out as a midbass on steroids. Either that or the calculator is WAAAYYYY off. So, what sealed box size would give satisfactory LFE and overall performance??

  9. heres a link to the avalanche specs. I've already ordered a rl-p d2 on the group buy but i may pick up the avalanche, too if its not a very simliar sub. http://forum.soundillusions.net/showthread.php?t=50318 the box will be small sealed and if somebody could tell me which is most optimal i would appreciate it.

  10. Just put in my 12" Rl-p it pounds. But what settings should I set my amplifer to? Alpine MRD-M605 600WRMS x 1 @ 2ohms 1.21 cu. ft. internal volume Here are the settings that are available, as per the user manual: Crossover Frequency Adjustment Knob Permits adjustment of the crossover frequency, by rotating the knob to select any frequency between 30 to 200 Hz as the crossover point. 9 Lowpass Filter Slope Selector Switch The Lowpass Filter slope can be set for either 12dB/oct. or 24dB/oct.. it does sound very nice, but i was hoping the bass would be tighter. so im thinking about getting a ported box from circuit city or something just to see how it sounds. any recomendati…

Would a us amps usa-200 be a good amp to run a single 12" Rlp? I've heard the amp puts out 600+ at 2 ohms...... assuming the rating is correct (or underrated as most us amps tend to be) it sounds to be a great match. Anyone have any thoguhts?

Hello all. I just ordered a 12" RLP and I am going to be running it off an MTX 2300. The sub will get approximately 700 watts rms. I am debating about what enclosure I would like to use in my car. I currently am running 2 JL Audio 12w6v2's in a sealed enclosure and it sounds good, but I am looking for a little bit different sound. I would like it to have the potential for getting loud, but with precise sounding bass. Would I be better off going with a sealed enclosure again, or should I try a ported enclosure? Also, as far as vented/ported, does slot ports or round ones matter?

i was thinking of getting one 12w6v2 and putting it in a sealed enclosure of about 1.25 cu. ft. This would be powerd by a nine.1 at a 2 ohm load giving a max of 900w, I will probably give it much less by adjusting gains. however now i am thinking of getting one 12" rl-p. what type of enclosure would you recommend to get the best sq out of this beast. would this sq match that of the 12w6v2 or get even close? by the way the 12" rl-p will be wired in a 1 ohm load to a nine.1 which could give it a max of 1200w but I probably wont give it that much. also can I assume that the 1 12" rl-p will have greater SPL then 1 12W6v2 when placed in similiar situations?

I'm running 2 rl-p 12's off of a 1200 watt infinity amp (im never getting an infinity amp again) in about 1.25 cubes each sub. My brother is running a 13W7 off of the JL 1000 monoblock i think its in a 2 cube box. His W7 beats me in the higher and lower frequency bass notes but i do keep up in the lower notes. But overall he kills me. I was really hoping i could just bash up his w7 with these 2 12's. Any tips on how i can kill my compitition with this beast. Yeah I am pretty sure going ported will do it but im not sure if i want to go that rout. THanx. I think a better amp might help because this infinity amp is clipping like crazy.

I can get 14.4cubes net after sub & port displacement. Ported to 34hz with 113" port area in a wall. Will this be enough air space & port area??? I'll be using the Orion 2500d to push them both (if I get the other one) @ 1ohm.

Im not very impressed by my first box build go figure. Its more of a cube shape than a rectangle and it doesnt fit in my trunk flush like i wanted it to. So i need to build a new box now. Im running the rl-p off an ED 9.1 at 2ohms and i want a box that will hit the lows very well. i was thinking 16x12x25 made out of 3/4 mdf. would this enclosure be ideal for good low end extension?

Just got my 15's & building the enclosure. It's going to be a single ported box with both 15's mounted in it. Question I have is should the drivers be completely cutoff from one another via internal divider, partially divided or wide open inside? The enclosure will be either 3/4 or 1" mdf, close to 7 cubic ft if divided, and 1 slot port on each side if divided. If open would I need to cut down on size & could I use 1 slot port? I've never run duals so kind of lost on this. Appreciate any info.

I have a 15" RL-p d4 paralell @ 2ohms on a Viper d1200.1. I have a horrible box(24x18.75x13) ported with a 2"diameter 7" deep aeroport) and I have no idea what it's tuned to. Basically, I'm wondering if I should just completely ditch this box, try to port it, seal it up and use it as sealed, or build an entire new box(I don't REALLY want to, but I probably will.) How would this box sound if I ported it? I saw that I can get some 4" flared aeroports for pretty cheap. Your thoughts?

I started out with 5^3 @30Hz for 2 15's per Mike from SS. SQ was excellent and lows were amazing. I consider this my reference box. Then I went to 5.8^3 @35Hz. Was shooting for 6^3 @ 34Hz, but did some goofy math at 2am. Subs had more punch in the mid/upper bass, but lacked low end compared to the "ref" box. It was definitely louder, but lacked impact. I tried it for 2 days and didn't care for it. I extended the ports and ended up with 5.4^3 @ 32Hz. I consider this the ultimate tune for LSQ. Plenty of deep lows, loud as he!!, and still very articulate and musical. Kick drums literally beat the car to death. Thank god for the 150#'s of sound deadener I have in there, but…

Okay, so I want to mount my woofer inverted because I have two very small, but very ugly dents in the cone. This means that my box can be 7" high, 24" deep, and 30" wide. 7x24x30 MAX. So, for the most effective box SQ wise, what should I build? I'm running it @2ohms on a viper d1200.1(so about 800 watts). Thanks, guys.

I'm thinking of doing two 15" RL-p because of the low box requirement. My question is, how much does the basket/magnet assembly displace, per woofer?? Also, is 1800 RMS enough for a pair of these? Or should I step it up to 2500 or so? Also #2, is 3 4" Aeroports enough port area for this install? I'm thinking I will have major port noise unless I step up to 4 4" Aeroports. Is 3 okay?? Thankyou!! Alex

Granted I've ran a lot of tc based product over the years so I'm pretty sure that the P's should handle the power but just wondering a couple of things. First whats the coil in it like winding length and layers if you don't mind and is that the tall profile surround on it? Just wondering because I may be picking up a pair in a couple of months.

Hm... Looking at your 18, it says it will do well in a sealed enclosure ~4 cubic feet? That'd be awesome, thats about the amount of space I have to work with. Worth doing or should I just go with a smaller sub? Also, what are the power possibilities? I have a Kicker ZX1500.1... not sure if I should get a 2 or 4 ohm driver, impedances own me.
