SoundSplinter

This is an exciting time for SoundSplinter, as the past year has proven the quality and interest in our subwoofers, we have had a considerable amount of businesses approach us to help distribute our products. It has been and still is highly unlikely you will see SoundSplinter in your local audio shop, as our margins are often too low to make such a relationship appealing to the reseller. However, internet sales are another story all together, and we will provide drop-shipping services for reputable online merchants who wish to carry the SoundSplinter name in their inventory. This is just a quick blurb to let you all know that Acoustic-Visions.com is now an authorized r…

  2. As many of you may have heard, we indeed have some exciting news about TC Sounds' Linear Motor technology. After years of development, and months of negociations, SoundSplinter has been granted exclusive rights to be the first distributor of Linear Motor technology enabled drivers! Few prototypes have been made thus far, but those that were have been given exceptionally high acclaim by those who have experienced them. My goal is to work with TC Sounds to continue this saga in appropriate fashion, bringing to market a truly awesome driver, capable of massive excursion, huge output, high power handling, all with incredibly low distortion and a beastliness that will amaze…

So any information which can be provided on LMT as far as its application in specific drivers and if im luckey flux density, gauss charts, excetera would be most helpful.…

What are the voice coil diameters of the R-lp drivers? Are they based on the TC9? I thought I read somewhere that they were, but the T-s parameters are pretty different. Thanks

Well my RL-i 10's arrived yesterday, and I want to get them in a box asap. No literature was provided with them, but not a big deal. I just need to know the displacement of these subs so I can figure my overall box size. I spoke with Mike via email and he recommended a .6 cu ft per sub sealed box. I'll be running 425w RMS to each, and they'll be down-fired under my rear bench of my crew cab truck. One thing I noticed was that the mounting surface is a bit different from what I'm used to. The mounting holes are covered with a rubber "ring." The holes through this ring appear to be the same diameter as the holes through the mounting surface of the basket. So my que…

Basically, I just wanted to know if you would have to supply the same amount of power to a subwoofer to recieve the same performance from it whether it is in a Home Theatre (HT) setup or a car audio (CA) setup. Lets take the RL-S for example (seems to be the popular sub out right now which could be used in both applications), If we supplied the RL-S with 1500 watts of power with a caraudio amp such as one from MTX, and then we took the same RL-S and powered it with 1500 watts from a HT type amp such as one from the QSC PLX series, would the RL-S perform the same, assuming all other variables are the same. Or could you use a lesser powered HT amp and have an identical perf…

ok. im building a fiberglass enclosure for my soon to have rl-p 15, right now its setup to be a ported box it appears it will be 3-3.5^ft net internal dimentions, so once the sub and port are in...it shrinks down significantly, now i want one heck of a pounding sub, i'd be overjoyed with ~140 db, ill have a MA audio 1200wrmsx1@1ohm amp going to it, it will all be in the trunk,im hoping to get the 2ohm dvc one but i only see the 4ohm on the site...i sent and email about that, hopefully i can get the 2ohm, so my question is is that gonna be too small for ported or should i plug the hole and seal it up, which with it being fiberglass would be a whole lot easier to do, will i…

  11. Hey, want your guys opinion on my setup and what to do. The review here and interactions with Mike have convinced me to go with a SoundSplinter. I will push it with either 310wrms (PG M44) or 500wrms (PG zx475ti). My choice due to volume is either a sealed Rlp 12" or ported 10" RLi. I haven't ordered the sub yet but have started on the mold for the box. Here are pics of the beginning.

I was looking for advise. I think I may be interested in a RL-s 12" for my trunk, but reading the specs and recommendations it seems that it will not fit my needs. Would I be able to fit a RL-s in my 2005 TL without gobbeling up all my trunk space. Should I be leaning more towards a RL-p 12"? Would a RL-p get me good low bass that I'm looking for? Any recommendations on an AMP to push the RL-p? How about an AMP to push a RL-s? Thanks

I thought it'd be a good idea to create a central thread for the plans that we are making for the demo driver. Something that we can reference during and post-testing, something that we can reference for the many reviews to come. I 'll have to get Kent in here soon, as He'll have hands on it next week. As I'd told Mike, I should have plenty of power and space availible in-car, errr esuvee. I'll test mostly in car, as that's easiest for me (where the equipment supports it), though I may still try it in home (if I can source an amp by then). Insofar, for power I'm working with a pair of Orion 1200D's strapped. Nominal power of 2400wrms @ 2ohm. I don't have any plans to use…

ALOT more output. i'm running the bare min 800w, this baby is power hungry! w/ less than 1000w i've heard better...sorry mike this weekend i'm getting together w/ my friend, and were gonna play w/ LOTS of power maybe strapping it to a pair of bd1000's here is some pics of it sitting by my 15's, holding its own, and my ghetto box for it.

I just finish installing my RL-p today and i found the subs doesn't hit that hard and solid, it goes low but, i feed it with 1000rms. Does the inverted installation has anything to do with this?? I used to put the sub in a normal way but in a larger box, it hit harder and more solid but a lot peaky. The current box has around 1.3cuft net (with the magnet outside)

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but have been looking into the RL-P's for a long time now. I'm about to buy two 15" RL-P's in a couple of weeks, and I have been looking into boxes lately. Like I said I'm going to be buying two 15's very shortly and I plan on dropping them in a ported box. If I give each sub 3.5cu ft after displacement what should the box be tuned too? Power will be an eD Nine.1 going to each sub. I'll use 3/4" or 1" MDF with bracing and the works... I figured I'd go with an open (non divided) box. The box will be going into the back of a '00 4dr GMC Jimmy... Might go in the '95 4dr Blazer.. not sure yet but I'll be able to fit 7cu ft total in the back n…

Amp: Orion 2500d wired to 3.5ohm nominal (not much choice, eh?) Box: 2.5ft^3 tuned to 28hz with 32in^2 of port. Music played: You name it, for rap to rock to test tones. Impressions: Clarity: this thing doesn't know distortion. even when I clipped the amp, distortion is, well, impossible to pick up, to my ears at least. I have no…

Hello all. I just ordered a 12" RLP and I am going to be running it off an MTX 2300. The sub will get approximately 700 watts rms. I am debating about what enclosure I would like to use in my car. I currently am running 2 JL Audio 12w6v2's in a sealed enclosure and it sounds good, but I am looking for a little bit different sound. I would like it to have the potential for getting loud, but with precise sounding bass. Would I be better off going with a sealed enclosure again, or should I try a ported enclosure? Also, as far as vented/ported, does slot ports or round ones matter?

I just finished ordering my Rl-p 12, and I cant wait to get it. I think i messed up a little, see what I did was buy an amp before sub thinking that I was going to get a different sub, but now I decided on this one. The first problem I have is way too much power I beleive. I have the Lanzar Opti 2000D, which will put out 1100 at 2 ohms. I will obviously keep the gains turned down. The main point of this post is the enclosure for me that will handle some of that power and sound good doing it. It seems that most ppl around here say to try this thing sealed, but I have a few questions about that first. The kind of music I listen to is country, rock, and some rap, so I n…
