I was looking for advise. I think I may be interested in a RL-s 12" for my trunk, but reading the specs and recommendations it seems that it will not fit my needs. Would I be able to fit a RL-s in my 2005 TL without gobbeling up all my trunk space. Should I be leaning more towards a RL-p 12"? Would a RL-p get me good low bass that I'm looking for? Any recommendations on an AMP to push the RL-p? How about an AMP to push a RL-s? Thanks

This is an exciting time for SoundSplinter, as the past year has proven the quality and interest in our subwoofers, we have had a considerable amount of businesses approach us to help distribute our products. It has been and still is highly unlikely you will see SoundSplinter in your local audio shop, as our margins are often too low to make such a relationship appealing to the reseller. However, internet sales are another story all together, and we will provide drop-shipping services for reputable online merchants who wish to carry the SoundSplinter name in their inventory. This is just a quick blurb to let you all know that Acoustic-Visions.com is now an authorized r…

First off, you can see the new logo that we are using on all new Premium Series drivers in the above picture. It came out beautifully on the annodized aluminum cones, crisp printing with a slightly metallic copper sheen to it. We will be phasing this logo onto all new Premium and future Ignition Series drivers. All current 12" RL-p's feature this logo, while the 15" RL-p will continue to feature the solid "S" logo until the current stock runs out. Secondly, we received our new 12" stock this week and now have both the RL-p12 and RL-p15 D4 drivers available for immediate shipping. Third, and perhaps the most exciting news - due to popular demand, we are re- introduc…

ok. im building a fiberglass enclosure for my soon to have rl-p 15, right now its setup to be a ported box it appears it will be 3-3.5^ft net internal dimentions, so once the sub and port are in...it shrinks down significantly, now i want one heck of a pounding sub, i'd be overjoyed with ~140 db, ill have a MA audio 1200wrmsx1@1ohm amp going to it, it will all be in the trunk,im hoping to get the 2ohm dvc one but i only see the 4ohm on the site...i sent and email about that, hopefully i can get the 2ohm, so my question is is that gonna be too small for ported or should i plug the hole and seal it up, which with it being fiberglass would be a whole lot easier to do, will i…

with 300 watts went to a small audio meet in here in town, and many people had their stuff metered. i figured what the hell, so i borrowed a friend's amp (i STILL don't have my main amp yet...but that's for another thread). his amp puts out 300 @ 2 ohms. the termlab was used, and was placed in the passenger side kick panel. i hit 137 dB... guess that doesn't seem TOO bad considering the sub is in a 2.0 sealed, and in the trunk....with only 300 going to it....

I just finish installing my RL-p today and i found the subs doesn't hit that hard and solid, it goes low but, i feed it with 1000rms. Does the inverted installation has anything to do with this?? I used to put the sub in a normal way but in a larger box, it hit harder and more solid but a lot peaky. The current box has around 1.3cuft net (with the magnet outside)

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but have been looking into the RL-P's for a long time now. I'm about to buy two 15" RL-P's in a couple of weeks, and I have been looking into boxes lately. Like I said I'm going to be buying two 15's very shortly and I plan on dropping them in a ported box. If I give each sub 3.5cu ft after displacement what should the box be tuned too? Power will be an eD Nine.1 going to each sub. I'll use 3/4" or 1" MDF with bracing and the works... I figured I'd go with an open (non divided) box. The box will be going into the back of a '00 4dr GMC Jimmy... Might go in the '95 4dr Blazer.. not sure yet but I'll be able to fit 7cu ft total in the back n…

i got it today. i haven't had a lot of time to listen to it. i had it started out in 7ft sealed. didn't sound to bad, but not alot of output. opened her up...6ft @ 37Hz. ALOT more output. i'm running the bare min 800w, this baby is power hungry! w/ less than 1000w i've heard better...sorry mike this weekend i'm getting together w/ my friend, and were gonna play w/ LOTS of power maybe strapping it to a pair of bd1000's here is some pics of it sitting by my 15's, holding its own, and my ghetto box for it.

ok folks, here it goes. First, thanks go to Mike for letting me test out his baby. It is a blast, to say the least. Second, this is just some preliminary review. I've got some more listening time left and I plan on using it ! Alrighty then, on to the beef; Vehicle: 2005 Chevy Trailblazer. Factory electrical and Bose sound system. Amp: Orion 2500d wired to 3.5ohm nominal (not much choice, eh?) Box: 2.5ft^3 tuned to 28hz with 32in^2 of port. Music played: You name it, for rap to rock to test tones. Impressions: Clarity: this thing doesn't know distortion. even when I clipped the amp, distortion is, well, impossible to pick up, to my ears at least. I have no…

Alright my RL-p 12 is on its way and now I'm trying to sort out the rest of the things I need. Because of money I am going to get either a Pheonix Gold Xenon 600.1 or a Kicker kx600.1 off ebay for an amp. Any suggestings? Also how and what do I need to wire my sub to my amp? I decided to build a box myself, so for 1 rlp with 600-700 watts at 2 ohms a sealed box should be around 1ft^3? What would be some common dimensions? Finally where is a site that could direct me in going about building a box. Thanks

too lazy to paint or carpet the box, but supa_c spraypainted the port haha. All in all it came out decent...had a couple air leaks in the face and i was too lazy to take the subs back out and seal from the inside so I glued some spots from the exterior...then i realized i should have just added a couple extra screws on top lol. 3.0 ft^3 net ~34hz. and i get to say i met mike from SS! who else can say that? i wanted the logoless + sig but he was out of the logoless, but the anodized cones w/ logos were my 2nd choice. i haven't had extensive playing time with these babies yet, but they are quite the impressive drivers. i've only listened to rap and stuff like that so …

At first i only want to clean it, but i got overboard and here's what it come out to be, one shiny backplate (for some reason the flat bottom won't go shine), only use my hand and some polishing product . The beast just get sexier. As i'm mounting the sub inverted, i think this is a good outcome PS: Mike can u make the Terminal hole bigger??!!!, it's a PITA when u trying to insert two 12ga wire (paralel wiring), i like to hide my wire as much as possible .

I'm about to make a new box for my RL-p, due to space restriction and the sexiness of the magnet , i have to mount my sub inverted. Now what would be the ideal cuthole size?? I notice that the rubber surround is fat and leave only slight gap in regard to the screw hole. Also about the polarity, i heard that u need to reverse the wiring, how u do that?? I'm wiring the sub in parralel. Now, would 1.27cuft and 1.38cuft yield different output?? The sub will receive 1000rms clean power and gear for SQ applcation, i like it to get low too. Thanks in advace

In trying to tweak my new RL-i 10, I noticed that the sub is very peaky from about 40-50 Hz, much louder than at 60-80 Hz. What can I do to remedy this? I have a .6 foot box, with around 350-400 watts going to the sub. The box is packed with polyfill. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

I thought it'd be a good idea to create a central thread for the plans that we are making for the demo driver. Something that we can reference during and post-testing, something that we can reference for the many reviews to come. I 'll have to get Kent in here soon, as He'll have hands on it next week. As I'd told Mike, I should have plenty of power and space availible in-car, errr esuvee. I'll test mostly in car, as that's easiest for me (where the equipment supports it), though I may still try it in home (if I can source an amp by then). Insofar, for power I'm working with a pair of Orion 1200D's strapped. Nominal power of 2400wrms @ 2ohm. I don't have any plans to use…
