Well fired up my system for the first time today. I'm digging this 12. I thought since I have a trunk car (06 mustang) it couldn't get loud, I was wrong. I did the recommended 1.2 sealed box and with only 600 watts it gets plenty loud/low and sounds extremely good doing it. I do believe this thing would take a good deal more power though, its barely moving with the 600w I am giving it. Thanks to Mike for the great sub and the great price. I am extremely pleased with the sub. Unfortunately my digicam is MIA so no pics I have 260w worth of front stage and it can't hang with this 12, guess its time for more power up front

OK... Buddy wanted to buy my RLp-12 and 'try it out' before paying up. He neglected to adjust gains and crossover on his amp, much to my chagrin, and burned up the voice coils. Apparently his head unit did not have a sub RCA pre-out, so he used the rear RCA pre-outs, which was sending full range to the subwoofer amp. Additionally the gains were turned all the way up (he has some Audiobahn 1000w RMS amp) and the crossover was wide open. So, after connecting the amp he popped in a CD and proceeded to send a full range signal at max gain the RLp-12 for about 30-45 seconds. The result: burned voice coils and the sub seized What are my options to get this guy repaired? M…

Does anyone know how to clean the cones on the new RLP-15's without tarnishing the logo? I've just received a couple of new drivers from Mike and after touching the cones, I'm leaving marks on them. I tried wiping with a dry cloth but it seems to make them worse. I'm leaving a dust trail where I wipe. Thanks in advance..... Mike I just heard from Mike @ SoundSplinter and thought some of you may benefit from his reply: On cleaning the cone, I would suggest dampening a cloth with a bit of water and wiping in a spiral motion around the entire cone to clean it. For stubborn stains, you could first dampen the cloth with armor-all and wipe in a circular motion, followed…

Is it clipping? Took the sub out, and it still made that sound on lower volumes. It's not bottoming out for sure, but what the hell can cause it? I'm using the same box and amp that I had in my old car, and it worked like a charm then.

I was looking at the enclosure recommendations for the Rlp-18 and I was wondering, If I had enough room for an enclosure that was 26'^3 for a pair of rlp-18's would it be to big for the subs? What would the response be like I want it loud, with an 18 I know it will get low. with an enclosure that large where should it be tuned, around 30hz or lower?

yep, got the rl-s yesterday..hopefully will be playing with it by wednesday... what did fed ex drop off??? the RL-s in all it's splendid glory!! beefy is the only words to describe this sub...along with B-E-A-UTIFAL!! and with the RL-s in a nice family photo, my d2 12"RL-p and my d4 8"RL-i. the RL-s kinda makes them look small..lol... but isn't it just the sexiest trio of subs?? i can't wait to run the rl-s side be side with the rl-p. i will also try a lightning audio x2 12" and maybe a memphis mojo 12. run all 4 head to head... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Picking up some 12" LMS 4K's (have one now, the other should be along this week). Just wondering I know they seem to use the same style motor/basket/surround and svc LMS 3 ohm coil. Looking for some input on real world application from someone who has done some testing in differnt alignment boxes with this style driver.

Well hello to all the regulars here. I have been reading this forum for a couple of months anonymously and decided to go with dual RLs-15's for my home theatre-stereo DIY sub project. I looked at all the subs and forums I could find. After everything was said and done, they looked like the ones for the job. My requirements were very low distortion, very low frequency extension and awesome output too. I decided to do everything pretty mush as recommended for a change. I have built 2 sealed enclosures that have just at 8.5ft^3 a piece minus about .5 for bracing. I am going to power them each with a bridged Behringer EP2500 with about 2400 watts@4ohms. I am putting th…

So I pulled my Rl-p15 out of it's home and lo-and-behold there is a bit of surface rust on the backplate. What I want to know is, would there be any harm in taking it off with some Scotchbrite and then maybe wiping it down with some WD40 on a soft cloth? Obviously I would take precautions so as not to introduce any FOD in to the vent/VC area. Thanks in advance.

my first run rl-p ( painted logoless cone) has started to die. it's not dead, but it's on it's way. so i'm retireing it. i guess too many 2500wrms runs in 2.5ft^3 tuned to 28hz. but boy did it sound good down that low and that loud..lol... i'm going to miss it.. but it's replaced, albeit for a short while, but a LA audio x2...at least it's another tcsounds product.. so, do i send it in..or make it a really pretty and heavy paperweight?? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i'm thinking of going sealed. it'll be around 2-2.5ft per sub. my question is how much output will i lose? ported only adds 3db, right? will the better sq be worth it? in your opinions? the main reason for the switch is it'll be easier to do than the huge ported and that tc gave me some ideas for a kick@ss fiberglass install

I first built a 1.7 ft^3 slot ported box tuned to 32hz for my RL-p 12 and it handled my Phoenix Gold Tantrum 1200.1 with no problems at all. This weekend I built a 1.4 ft^3 sealed box which would give me 1.28 ft^3 net after sub displacement. The problem is that my amp easily overpowers the RL-p causing it to emit some less than favorable sounds when I turn it up. I then put it in a 1.13 ft^3 box (net), which helped some but I still cannot crank it. The enclosure specs say I should be using 1.0 ft^3 or less but then I read on here that 1.25 was the ideal amount of air space for this sub. What would be the ideal size box for the RL-p with 1200 watts RMS? Any help w…

Well, after getting my new TC9+, I've been thinking it over, and I think I'm going to use it for my home system. As far as I can tell, this sub is pretty damn close to a RL-p in an electrical sense, but I'll be getting the T/S params from the seller soon to confirm that. What would be some recommendations for a sealed enclosure with a mid-Q alignment for something like this - power is probably going to be around 750-800W, maybe a kW if I can afford a rack amp to do that. Thanks.

ok folks...i just got my rlp 15 in today...daym, daym, daym she's so good looking...without a logo by the way, the cone, the basket, the rear end, sssso sexy!!! anyways, for now i'm gonna break her in and pop the cherry with my 311d in a sealed box which will give her about 350 rms at 2 ohm mono... i'm gonna be building my ported box over spring break next week...can't wait... just wanted to say she's so sexy!!!

Don't tell the Fi folks I am thinking of moving away from my 15" BL...lol I've been doing my research on 8" subs, and I think I kinda settled on the RL-i8s. I am thinking of a pair of 8s dual 4ohm, wired for a final load of 4ohm for daily driving so the amp will put out about 750watts at 4ohm. The amp is a RFT10001BD. Do you think both of those subs can handle a total of 1500watts@1ohm? I guess for burps and bass race? How would the subs like it in a ported box at lets say 1.6cuft tuned to 32-35hz? I want to choose this sub over the Kicker L7 8", just because I don't like mainstream subwoofers. And this way I can gain my trunk space back and spare tire!!! That …

Ok I ordered two RL-P 12's from the group buy and they will hopefully be showing up pretty soon now so I wanna get ready for them. My box will be approx 2.7 cubic foot shared fiberglass box for both subs (so about 1.35 or so each sub), should I stuff will polyfill and how much? Also will a Lanzar Opti2000D run at .5 ohm work well in this application? It is bit of power, but I figure it will work well running sealed. Here is the amp: http://lanzar.com/citempage.asp?MODEL=RBOPTI2000D I am getting excited now that my system is finally coming together, lol B)

I love when people get in my car and ask me if I have two 12's back there and I just tell them nope, just one You should see the looks on their face when I tell them its made by SoundSplinter, they are like So to the main point of this thread: What are some good songs to show off with? I have plenty of bass songs, but I want some songs that will show just how musical my rl-p is. All my friends know that it can get really loud....but I want some good sound quality songs to show them as well.
