First of all let it be known that I'm super happy with my RL-P and I've had it for 3 months now, so I'm not trying to bash SS. But I was watching a few vids on Realmofexcursion and it just doesn't look like SS's move all that much for a sub with a rated xmax of 24mm. In comparison to other subs out there that have less rated excursion it looks like the SS's move even less than these. -is it because the SS vids just are not showing full excursion? -I don't have a video camera -yes the RL-I 10 vid shows the most movement but why not someone with a RL-P 12 thanks, and remember I mean no offense b

what is rl-p short for?

Hello all, I recently took a gamble and purchased a RL-i 10 never having heard or seen a SS driver in person. But I really didn't feel like it was much of a gamble after emailing Mike and getting my questions and concerns dealt with in a VERY timely manner.... most times within 6 hours or so of posting them. I had heard TC sounds woofers (eclipse) prior to this purchase, so I had a slight idea of what to expect.... All in all, I am extremely happy with my purchase... With only 1 10" woofer, I wasn't aiming for loud, but the RL-i exceeds my expectations by far... It gets plenty loud and sound superb while doing it. Also it gets really low for a 10. How do these two subs rated against each other SQ wise?? Similar sounding? Does size matter for achieving better SQ?? or it's just a gimmick?? Sorry for asking heaps of question

Hmmm tryin to make a decision on which ones would be louder/have deeper bass..im lookin for LSQ...and im looking for the bass that wows the friends but also hits low to vibrate your seats...just tryin to get some opinions...i would most likely get the DD used for cheaper than the 2 RL-p's...TIA

I would like to get a sub to replace my Stereo Integrity 15". I love the sub, but it is a little too low for my taste, i am more into rock. so the questions is how would 2 rl-p 12" compare to my 15" D2? sq wise and loudness wise. I am really liking the price and really considering buying 2 if stack up to what i want. thanks, Travis

ok, i just finished tom's (TLM) ported enclosure for his future purchase of an rl-i8. in the meantime he said i could plug mine into it for playaround time. box specs are as follows, 1ft^3 tuned to 34hz with one 3" round port. was going to be .75ft^3 with one 4" port, but i couldn't fit the port inside the box..lol....anyway... power is supplied by an orion 2500d. at 8ohms. i have no clue as to the power it's getting, but i'd say at least 500wrms. and wow, can this thing go low for an 8! it gets low enough it knocked the terminal cup out of the back of the box, so i glued it...knocked it out again, made larger hole for more glue..knocked it out again. so i've got to go ge…

while looking for a ink to theuberwooferi came across tc ,they do aseveral 12s? doesnt the technolagy for the ss 12 comes from tc? so my question is,what the difference between the ss 12 and a tc 12? in a nutshell?

how hot should the cone get? after wanging pretty hard tonite for some reason i decided to feel the cone. i couldn't even keep my hands on them. i unstand that the vc produces heat and aluminum will "wick" the heat away from the "vc" which don't get me wrong, is a good thing. but how how does everyone else get?

My rl-p which i got wednesday has suffered a nice wound to the cone and surround thanks to a friend that was mounting it in the box while i wired some stuff. I don't want to make him pay for a new sub but he will if he has to. Any help is appreciated.

after talking to a guy on an audio web site i am about ready to buy a rl-p 12,just wanted some basic comparisons between it and a w6? obviously the ss is half the price! anyone familiar with both drivers and able to say what the main differences are?

just wonderin if a 15 rl-p would be better (than the 12) or too much in a 4 door car with a trunk? (mazda 626) definately gonna git an rl-p asap but a 12 or a 15? LSQ definately my goal with the empasis on sq.same 600 wrms.

Well my buddy has a Diamond CM3 in a Prefab (ewwww) ported box which from what I calculated is tuned to about 38 hz running off a Memphis St500d giving it 500 watts at 2 ohms... soooo I got him to drop my Rl-P in it and whaaaam it slaams. Its much louder than his CM3 and my old trio of 12w0s sealed but it just plays all the notes with such ease. I didnt expect too much from the sub with 500 watts and in this box but it sounds pretty darn good. i've looked at the new poles that everyone's been submiting, and it seems to be getting more about "vs." and i know everyone hates those poles, but since i'm really looking into these subs, i just really want to know what to expect and no b.s.... I used to have a 12" punch hx2 (the old ones), i've had solo-baric 12's, and kicker comp 12's, and as far as i know, none of these subs compare to the sq from ss, but i'm wondering if theres a box tuned or built to make these subwoofers absolutely PUND! i know they have good sq, but i'm thinking w/ a 3" voice coil, these things should be louder than any of the speakers listed above my favorite subwoofer owned was that punch 12. i…

I have a viper 1200.1 itll do 1200wrms at 1ohm is 600 watts too much for the 8? What amp would you reccomend for 2 of these? I know everyone hates the vs. ?'s but What would be louder 4 RE8's or 2 Rl-8's given there right box and watts.

i got my sub from the groupbuy, it has about 2-3 hrs playing time already and every so often i would up the gains little by little, so today when i was setting the gains higher again i notice that the sub sounded like it was bottoming out. I was in the back facing the trunk so i'm looking at the sub playing "throw it up" by lil jon and at certian parts the sub sounded like poooop instead of boooom. Ok, as you may or may not know, SS has eliminated the dual 2ohm/coil version from their Rl-p line up. However, Mike as allowed us to organize a group buy, where he will special order a run of D2 Rl-p's for those interested. As always, rules apply, and here they are as set out by Mike; So, first things first, we need to guage interest in this group buy (as it is specified that a minimum of 15 orders must be placed), and a decision on the size of driver must be made (as it will only apply to either the 12" or 15", but not both). So, please cast your vote and say if you are definitely in.

I know quite a few of you have been houndin' me for pictures of the new drivers - and I've been hesitant as we continue to refine and play around with different options from week to week, but I figure you've waited long enough and deserve an inside look at what these drivers will be lookin' like when they are finally released this coming summer.
