  3. I can't decide between 2 RL-P 12's and 2 eD 13Ov2's. i realize that this board will be biased towards the RL-P But I am hoping to get some insight on what you guys think. I am looking for Output with SQ. I plan on running a ported box at around 32-35hz in the trunk of an Altima. I also plan on firing the subs and port forward trhough the rear seat pass through and sealing of the box from the restof the trunk. I will be running about 600 watts to each sub. Thanks, AS

Basically I have seen some people recently making ported boxes and putting the slot port in the middle to act as bracing. When they get to the back of the box they split the port's area in two but still use the same port length. You can see what I mean here: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=169881 So for example if I needed 48 inches of port area, 30 inches long. I would go 3x16 in area for 15 inches and then make a left and right turn. The port area would shrink to 1.5x16 inches in both directions and go for another 15 inches in each direction. So technically I still maintained the same port area for the same length. But I don't know if such a design actual…

  6. I am looking to buy one RL-i 10" and was trying to figure out which amp I should buy. Would either of these work? I am hoping to put around 400-600 watts to it. http://www.millionbuy.com/prfap1000.html http://www.millionbuy.com/prfap1200.html Also, do the subs come with any logo on the cone? I really like the X logo, but it doesn't look like there is anything on them.

Car is a 1993 Nissan 240sx fastback, like the one pictured ...notice the angle of the hatch itself? I am looking to mount (1) RL-P15. Here is my question: Would it be worth it to try and make a box with an angle that matches that of the hatchback glass, so that it fires directly/evenly into the hatch? Or do you think it would be better to just go facing straight up? I COULD fit the sub facing back except I REALLY don't want it to stick out above my back seat, which it would.....though if facing backward is that much better I am willing to sacrifice. Also, is there much difference between 2 enclosures w/ the identical internal volume, but different dimensions? Thanks in a…

I'm thinking about replicating the sub enclosure created by Jmelan over at DIY mobile audio for my 2002 4Runner. Does anyone foresee any difficulties or performance issues for the RL-i8 with this type of enclosure in a side-firing alignment? I wonder if a larger driver (Fi Q 10/12, ICON 10/12, RL-i10) wouldn't be in my best interests.

I was just wondering how low a pair of 12" rli's will go? In the right box how good is thier low extension? Are they able to play clean in the 20hz range? If do get a pair I'd be feeding each one around 400watts.

Ok I now have 2 SS 8s and i need to build a nice box for them. I know how big I want to build it 41 x 10 x 12. This will give me 2cu ft of air before port. i would like to port it to around 29-31hz with 2 3" ports. Here is what I need help with how long do they need to be? I dont know how to figure out how much air the ports will take up in the box. Not sure if it matters. Thanks for any help with this. Mike J

The vas for a 15" rl-p D4 is 5.225ft^3 yet the reccomended box volume is 2.1 sealed. Should i try to make the sealed volume closer to the actual vas or should this spec be completely ignored? I was thinking more like 2/3 of vas which would be 3.1ft^3. Has anyone questioned this before?

I have had RLP 15 Sealed and Ported, SI Mag 12 ported and 15 sealed. Now I have the DD 9512G. I think I am getting too old to hit 145 with single 12 in the trunk. I am wanting to go to 2 sealed RLP 12's in about 2.5 or 3 Rli 10's in about 2.2. I have 2000 watts to spare and I want great SQ with mean kick drum on Metal, but also the ability to get loud. Is this gonna do it? Am I better off wit 2 12's ported at 1.6 cubes each for just a little bigger box? I just want it crisp and loud if possible.

According to the website: Optimal Car: 0.65 cu ft net volume sealed 0.55 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 32 Hz Is this right? This is the first time I see a vented box with a smaller net volume then a sealed box. If I end up with a RLi-10 and go with a ported box tuned to 32 Hz, the net volume would be about 0.8 ft^3. How would having a larger net volume effect the sound of the sub? And one more question to the actual Sound Splinter guys. Can you tell me what the shipping cost of a RLi-10 to zip code 96819 (Honolulu, Hawaii). EDIT: I just notice this on the same page: Acceptable: 0.4 -…

I'll have the RL-s in hand towards the end of the first week in December, or sometime into the second week. I am actively searching out someone in the Miami area that has around 2k RMS on tap at 4 ohm -- should be able to find someone Now, down to business. Does anyone have some requests as to what boxes I should use? Right now I am planning the following... 4 Cubes Sealed 3 Cubes Sealed 2 Cubes Sealed 3.5 Cubes Ported, 20hz, 50in^2 Port Area 3.5 Cubes Ported, 25hz, 50in^2 Port Area 3.5 Cubes Ported, 30hz, 50in^2 Port Area I was sticking with 3.5 Cubes Ported b/c I just can't imagine anything larger for just a 12" driver. Thoughts, requests, etc? If I can get my hands o…

Two questions: I was wondering if it is ok to slightly overpower this pair of DVC subs in a small sealed box. I have an MB Quart RAA2400 amp that feeds 400w RMS x2 @ 2 ohms (maybe underrated also..) Also, since my amp feeds 400w x 2 @ 2 ohms, I can wire these DVC 4ohm subs so that my amp sees a load of 2 ohms in each channel... right? Thanks in advance!

I want to have mostly a sq based system, but i still want to be able to feel some bass. I want to run 8's just to conserve some space. How well do these hit low frequencies. I mostly listen to mostly rock and R&B so i kind of need some all around performers. I can imagine they will get pretty loud in a truck, but does anyone run these in a car? If so throw me some info. I'm still not sure if i want to run 2 or 3 though. The Vehicle in question is a 2004 POntiac Grand Prix.

  22. First of all let it be known that I'm super happy with my RL-P and I've had it for 3 months now, so I'm not trying to bash SS. But I was watching a few vids on Realmofexcursion and it just doesn't look like SS's move all that much for a sub with a rated xmax of 24mm. In comparison to other subs out there that have less rated excursion it looks like the SS's move even less than these. -is it because the SS vids just are not showing full excursion? -I don't have a video camera -yes the RL-I 10 vid shows the most movement but why not someone with a RL-P 12 thanks, and remember I mean no offense b

ok so i have my car finished and very happy with it, but now i have an rl-p 12 sitting on a shelf doing nothing. my car is a toyota previa (big socca mom type ride) and my sub amp is an orion2500d) just for fun i want to build another box for when i just want to get stupid (my daily driver box is 2 x prototype soundsplinter 8s sealed) space is almost not an issue, i could probably get 4 x 4 x 4 feet (32 cubic feet?)in there easy. so whats a good box to build just for pure stupid bass factor when i want to go for a cruise with my bros? what dimensions and port area would be good. any ideas....stupid ideas

hey all, i was just wondering, how much of an improvement in spl and sq (in your opinion) if any will i get switching my LI in for an RL-P i just ordered?? All with the same amt of power about 550-600w, and same box (but shrinking the internal volume by .75 cubic feet.) and tuning it around 30-32 hz.
