I have an 18" RL-P I just bought....im about to be installing it in ~5 cubes sealed on my 20.1 @ 1 ohm.....i think the sub is rated for 500-1000 RMS on sound splinter's website...do u think it can handle the 20.1 or is that too much power?

I'm currently coming from a setup consisting of 2 JL 12w3s in a ~7 ft^3 ported box getting about 400W each. I am going to use the same amp (providing about 900w RMS @ 2ohms). I am also going more for an SQ setup this time -- I want osmething that hits nice and hard, and I'm not too concerned about someting that'll make my ears hurt (okay, I don't want that anymore). So, here's the question: which would YOU prefer -- 2 10" i's or 1 12" P? I still haven't decided on ported vs. sealed yet, as I don't know how much less-loud a ported enclosure is, since I only have experience with my old, big ported box. If I do the 12" Rl-p, I'll probably go sealed, but may do either se…

Well I didn't want to jack CT_SRT's thread, but people were suggesting using a slot port in the middle to act as bracing. I was originally considering this, but I need to use an L shaped port to get enough port length, and I couldn't figure out how to make an L shaped port act equally on the 2 subs. I'm currently building my box, but have yet to cut into my front baffle, so sub mounting/port placement is still decidable. My external dimensions are: 15H" x 36W" x 25D" So that should give me about 7.1cf right? Can anyone help me port this? I'd like to tune to 30 hz (lower if possible) with as much port area as I can fit. Any large port tuned that low will be longer than 20"…

i was interested at first in 2 12" Resonant Engineering SXs or XXX's and then just a few days ago their prices basically tripled so i went crazy looking through the internet for something cheaper ($500 ot under for 2 12" subs) and i heard about the RL-Ps on other forums and heard nothing but good things about them. and $440 for 2 subs, if theyre REAL good is amazing to me.. now honestly i dont know much about systems...this is gonna be my first one (i read alot about them though and know many people with a system). and im reading the description for the RL-Ps and it says 500 watts rms. the XXX i was hoping for was 1600 rms. now just reading that makes me think the RL-P is…

First off, I currently have one in a ported box in my truck. I've never owned a sealed box, so I don't know what to expect. I can get 9.5cubes total (before displacement) for the subs. They will be pushed by 2 Infinity 1211a's (one to each). So my question is............ Will I be happy??? I know this is a silly question, and one that really can't be answered till I build it, lol. But it never hurts to try.

I'm keeping my 18", and starting on another box for it this weekend. My max dementions are 17" tall-38"wide-25" deep. That gives me just over 7.5cubes to play with. I'm going ported, and I was just trying to figure out what would be best; flaired or slotted?

Well i decided on getting soundsplinter subs. I am either going to be buying a kicker zx750 amp or an alpine pdx 600.1. Would these amps be sufficent? I am leaning towards the kicker since it has more power but i wanted to get some suggestions from mike(i think thats the owner of soundsplinter). I was going to go with a sundown sae-1000 but thats just too much power for me and my stock maxima.

I am buying 2 RL-i 8's in the next few days and I'm trying to come up with designs for the new box. I have a 2004 silverado regular cab, with a center console that houses a Fi/SX hybrid right now. Im thinking of the same concept but build the box downfiring and ported. The console would be much bigger than the actual speaker box, I would just have the box built into the bottom part of the console and maybe glass the top following the contour of the seats. The box size would be 25*14.5*10 with a regular L-port. The total cubic foot after port and speaker displacement should be roughly 1.2 ft^3 tuned to 35 Hz. Is that too big for these subs? Any ideas for a box design …

I'm thinking of doing two boxes; each box containing dual Rl-i 8"s in between 1 and 1.3ft^3 with a 15" passive radiator tuned to about 30hz. So 4 total with two boxes I'll be glassing it all, and I'll have either my colossus GenXX or maybe even something nicer cough Goliath cough. According to the new testing its doing less power than the colossus but gets more spl due to the name I suppose . http://audioforum.termpro.com/ubb/ultimate...011444/p/3.html very intresting it's doing less power but but spl... So I'm thinking of trying something of that nature. I'm getting a pair of BD1500's soon I hope, so I'll test with those when I get the new truck. And *hopfully* 4 Rl-i…

okay, im lookin at gettin 2 RL-i's for my truck (87 mazda b2200) i want it to wang like hell. problem is ive got only enuff for the tens right now. and im tryna build something over time. ive always wanted tens, and saw the site cuz of reccomendations at CA.com. would this be a good setup to fiberglass? or would it be happier in MDF? ill probably stick to sealed, i wont get metered but i want it to hit pretty good. my ears ring on 2 w3's and 500/1 and thats sorta what i base everything off of, being its the only quality system around my area. everything else is audioblown

Just a quik question. Would you guys recommend a single rl-p ported or 2 rl-ps sealed. I have limited trunk space in the back of a eclipse. I I go with one sub I have to get a new amp. I currently have a Mark Antony running 2 E12ks 2nd generation at about 1400+ watts@1ohm sealed. The 2 rl-ps, if I can get another dual 2ohm would put the amp over 2000 watts. There reason I am asking is because i want to know is it sensible to run 2400 watts for a car that will probably only see a couple of local comps.

well first off Hello to all the people on this forum. this is my fist post and I want to figure some stuff out. OK first off I am a "nood" when it comes to box building. and I have come to the decision to purchase 2 12" Rl-p's because well they look like damn sexxxy subs and people have said good things about them..NOTHING BAD!!!. and the price is great. anyhoo. I need help getting box specs for my pathfinder. I have no clue on tuning a box. and what would the best tuning be for them. in a ported box. That is a little drawing of what my specs are for my pathfinder. if anyone can help me design a box for 2 12"s ported. [i dont know what the best frequency would be for t…

they came today!WOW. they are so fu(king loud!!!! i don't think they hit the lows as good as my hybrid(and by lows i mean sub 30Hz)but i think the box plays the biggest part in that...1-hybrid=30Hzw/60in port, 2-RL-p's=34Hzw/70in port. but they make up for it in how much louder they are above 30!!!i gotta go have this metered now! i got the box in there and put the subs in...and when i test fit the box the other day i never thought to try to shut the hatch well i had to trim the box a little...well you'll see;).....

Well i have one rl-p 18 that is still pretty stiff even after a year of use. And today i just found another one at a pawn shop and picked it up for a really really low price. the coils are fine, both read 2.0, theres no rips or tears in the spider/surround. Now that i have 2 i really want to run them both in a sealed enclosure, but im worried they might play somewhat out of phase due to the one from the pawn shop having a looser suspension. Could this happen or am i just worrying too much? thanks!

I have had RLP 15 Sealed and Ported, SI Mag 12 ported and 15 sealed. Now I have the DD 9512G. I think I am getting too old to hit 145 with single 12 in the trunk. I am wanting to go to 2 sealed RLP 12's in about 2.5 or 3 Rli 10's in about 2.2. I have 2000 watts to spare and I want great SQ with mean kick drum on Metal, but also the ability to get loud. Is this gonna do it? Am I better off wit 2 12's ported at 1.6 cubes each for just a little bigger box? I just want it crisp and loud if possible.

Hi guys, After much consideration and listening, I am thinking about redoing my current setup, especially the enclosure. Currently I have a the following setup in my car (Lexus IS 220d): - Original (Lexus) HUD and amplifier - Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.2 - Front Tweeters: 1 pair of Scan-Speak D2904/6000 - Front Woofers: 1 pair Seas W18NX-001 - JL Audio 450/4 amplifier - JL Audio 1000/1 amplifier - 2 SoundSplinter RLp-12 subwoofers - Cap., 2nd battery, etc. Anyways the current enclosure is a ported enclosure, about 3.1 cu.ft., but I really dislike how the subwoofers perform. They sound to muddy, unclear and kinda slow (especially with fast techno-based bass songs). Here is a …

Hi all, I will be running 2, RL-i8's via an MMATS D1100.1 (2006 model) which outputs 750WRMS at 1 ohm. Each driver will have a full .414 cu^3 and will be in sealed enclosure. I was hoping that the MMATS would output slightly more than the rated power. Unfortunately, the amp does not come with a birthsheet so I have no way of knowing. Will the RL-i8's perform well with this particular setup? I was hoping to run a 900 WRMS amp however I picked up the MMATS for a great price. I increased the original volume from .3 cu^3 to .414 cu^3 in order to compensate somewhat. This is going into a Toyota Matrix in the hatch area with the drivers firing upwards. What do you think? Regard…
