Greetings loyal customers, fans, strangers, veterans and nooblets alike. It is with some dismay that I am here to announce an increase in our direct sales pricing that will affect all SoundSplinter products. As many informed online audio enthusiasts are already aware, our producer (original equipment manufacturer) has recently decided to move towards full scale retail distribution in conjunction with some incredible markups along the order of 100% - 200% per unit. Though initially hoping that these markups would not affect our OEM pricing schedule, it turns out that indeed they will. As a result, future production costs for the SoundSplinter brand are increasing substa…

OK, so after many months of procrastinating, I finally got around to building it. Now keep in mind when looking at these pix, it's far from done. This was a quick build to make it to a show. I still have a lot of the "beauty" trim to put up, wires to clean up, and tuning to do to the amps. So with that being said, it's on to the pix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my old setup The new build My door panels with 2 MAW 6.5"s & 2 Fusion Power Plant Tweeters to each door Be genital with the remarks & comments, lol. I know it's not a "true" wall, but I go through so many ideas that I wanted to be able to take it out later, lol.

I can get an Alpine MRD-M1005 for around $200. It does 1000w RMS x1 @ ohms. Would this be too much power for it? Thanks, Logan

Good mornin' to the good peeps of SSA! It has been a long time coming, with glimmers of hope springing to light only to be dashed by the heavy reality of a struggling economy and a primary producer that declared bankruptcy only a few short months after my largest purchase order to date. I had sincerely hoped that there would have been a revival in the production process, however I can now say with confidence that I will not be receiving my order for the RL-i8's and RL-p18's that I had placed so many moons ago. On the upside, a partial debt resolution is in the works, so I should be able to recoup a portion of the losses stemming from my final purchase order. However, gi…

Man you have the RL-i's looking so good that it is an injustice to the RL-p's. It actually looks like the RL-i's are your premium line. Of couse if this is gonna take away any time from the RL-s then forget it.......the site looks great!!!

I've been considering putting a sub into an '00 Integra. Basically I am looking that I suppose what would be called an SQ sub, in that I am not greatly concerned with SPL as I don't listen to music very loudly and I also would prefer to have a near flat frequency response between across the sub and the main speakers. Ok, so I'm doing a little modeling and one thing has me troubled. I see on the SoundSplinter RL-i8 page that the recommended sealed enclosure volume is 0.2 to 0.65 cu ft with optimal car being 0.5 cu ft. From my modeling I'm coming up with about 0.09 cu ft for a Q=0.7 alignment. Is there some reason that I wouldn't want this sort of alignment in a car? I…

i have a rl-p 15 and built the recommended 3 cubes sealed box for it. sounds great, just not that great of output. ive always had sealed boxes and my last setup 3 10's jl w3's was louder than this lol. had a bit more cone area but anyway you get my point. since everyone says this sub does better in ported enclosures, i was thinking of just adding 2 4' psp ports tuned to 30hz to the current 3 cube box instead of building a second box like i planned. im not an spl nut at all, i just need something with like (trying not to use the term LSQ here) some sqballs! lol would 3 cubes ported be to small for a 15?

every company gives a recommended port area, or people like to use about around 12-15 square inches of port per cubic foot. ive got a rl-p 15 and am drafting a new box to fit under my hatch cover for better security reasons. my current box is 4 cubes after disp. at 30hz w/ 55.5 square inches of port.(in love) the one im drafting is will be 3.5 after disp. at 32.5 w/ 67.5 square inches of port. i dont know when i plan on building the new one, maybe when i have the cash flow and a job lol so how do you know you

I got a new amp, and I think it's about to put a hurtin on my Rl-P12 D4.....It's a Clarion DPX11551 so at 2-ohm, it will be putting 1550RMS to the sub. It will be sealed in 1.25^ft. If the gain is all the way down, will I be OK? Previously ran with 500wrms, and it was a monster. Also, whats the highest I should cross the sub? Im running Dayton RS180-4 7" in the doors. Can I cross the sub at 100hz or am I asking for trouble? Thanks.

Ok, I just purchased the new 18" RL-p (D4). The problem I have is the only amp I have is an Orion 2500d. It'll do 1800w rms @ 2ohm. The 18" is rated at 1000-1200w rms (I think). Would I be ok with turning down the gains? I dont have another amp at this time. I do plan on sending in an RE 12.1 amp I have in great condition to get fixed. It "rattles" when you move it. When I bought it, I was told that it was BNIB. When I opened it, it was making the rattling noise. The guy I bought it from wont return my PM's, emails, calls, etc. Any info on how I can make it work would be great. Thx guys, Vic.

Recently purchased a used RLP 15, and have my eye on another one online. I have a friend whos going to build me a nice ported box for the subs, but until I can get the rest of the money for that, I wanted to try it sealed based on the reviews I have heard. I have a sealed box I had a pair of Kicker Comp VRs in but heres my question. The box is only 1.95 cubic feet per chamber, ( suppose to be 2.0 but is off just a lil bit) I know the displacement of the RLP 15 is 0.18 cubic feet, would I be choking the sub in that box? I thought about inverting it, to save on some space inside the box. This would only be a temp install until I can get my ported box completed. Also, im g…

I tried rear-firing my RL-i8's today and what a difference. The gain on the amplifier had to be turned down as the bass was too strong for general music listening. I threw my "Super Duck Breaks" CD for some serious bottom end. I could not believe that I was running 8's! People 1/2 block away were turning around to see what the hell the noise was. Listening at these levels is just not possible in general. I am almost tempted to build a ported enclosure for these things. Not that I am going to listen to regular music with this setup; I would just like to see how much louder and deeper these things could go. Is this considered a sickness? My neighbours and wife think I have …

Well, I got bored with my trunk. And since I'm currently waiting for my head unit to come back from warranty, I decided to redo my trunk. I don't think i'm going to make it look "as" presentable...but more on the functional side of things. Anyhow...I was itchin to go ported for some time now, and I think I'll follow through this time. I'm going to make a 2.5 cu ft tune to @ 30 hz using two 4" aero ports. Yeah the box may seem a bit small for a ported 15, but it's still within the sub's recommended box volume. The box won't be as deep as my old one...in attempts to get back some trunk space. Heres what it looks like before: And now...after today... Front baffled remove…

well at 1st i was going to go with one JL 12W6v2 in a ported ~1.5^3ft enclosure.(regular box, mdf, tuned 27-28 Hz) powered by an ed nine.1. then i came across the fiberglass post down at ca.com and thought about putting two 10's in a custom fiberglass enclosure in each of the wheel wells. this is where the rl-i 10s come in. would two 10" rl-i's in a sealed fiber glass enclosure with about ~1^3ft of space for each sub and both powered by one ed nine.1 amp be enough to compare it to or even outperform the (1) 12w6v2 i was speakin of earlier? im goin for an sq setup but i still want some spl. i know that the w6 do well in these categories but now i am interested in the rl-i s…

First thing is WOW! I decided to put them in a 4.1ft^3 box ported @ 32hz. Right now I have one Hifonics 1600 powering them. I'm going to install the other soon. I tried to build the most efficient box I could. Its based on about 70/30 spl/sq. But the speakers surprised me, they are WAY more musical than expected. I did put one in a 1.5 cu sealed box. I was pleased with the way it sounded. I listened to it for about two hours total. (going to school and back. Extremely musical absolutely no complaints about anything. That design just didn't have the output I wanted. I wanted the new box to get very loud. While still retaining very acceptable SQ. The port is large (its 81i…

Well, I've been thinking that my RL-p 15s are underpowered. I have them down at 1 ohm on a Planet Audio 2250d that has been tested to do ~1600 rms. I have heard of people throwing 1000 - 1200 per Rl-p. I most definatley have the room to go mechanically, I just wonder if I dump 2k+ at the pair....will I run into some seriously limiting thermal problems? Box is 5.5 NET....is it just a box issue as to why my excursion isn't a ton? It gets loud...but I think there is even more bottled inside these puckers.

Mike, I want to thank you for the two new replacement drivers you sent me. Here is the update on the rebuilds.... BTW for those who don't know what happened. My wife blew out my last two drivers due to switiching to a Jurassic Park movie with the gains still set at full. She doesn't mess with the settings on the equipment. I am running a QSC 1450 amp to each driver. A 1450 watt amp is too much power for these drivers if not monitored by you! I over amp for low bass at low volumes for my music. I divided the cabinet with heavy partitioning and made two cabinets in one reducing the cubes down to about 2.2 per cabinet, each having their own driver and two passives. Eac…

Well, right now they are housed in 5.5NET @ 37hz w/ 70in^2 port area. Not what I call an ideal box. They are loud, but not by my standards. New box will be had in less than a month 6 Cubes NET, 33hz, 91in^ port area and threaded rod bracing. The port velocity in the current box is ridiculous, blows harder than fudge, and has got to be hurting my output. Also I have serious flex issues, like the baffle actually has an xmax :-p. From what I've seen out of them thus far, I have a feeling that in about 1 month, I am going to be very, very loud.
