Alright I will be ordering my Rl-p 12 shortly and I want to start figuring out the rest of my setup and get it in the mail. I have been looking around at amps but I'm not good when it comes down to just deciding on one. I know to look for 500-800 watts at 2 ohms but im not sure really sure what to lay my money down for (which i dont have a lot of) so I'd like it to be the most bang for my buck. What amp should I pursue? I would like specific models too what do you use and does it work good for you? Thanks

*sorry for another amp question in a row i just got my RL-p15 in yesterday, biult a 2cu. ft. sealed box and ran it temporarily off an Alpine MRP-M350 amp. i had to drive the amp close to clipping for the lows to come out, but i know i was badly underpowering it. im planning to go ported once mike gets back to me on my ideas. i had these amps in mind: Alpine MRD-M1005/M605 maybe Rockford T10001BD MTX 801D PG Octane R 8.0.1 I really want to spend less than $350 though i know some that i listed are over that. any help would be appreciated. thanks

Ok, quick history...the blazer I am fixin to buy from my friend has a box the we (he & I) built about 9 years ago in it. It is an iso. enclosure with 2-jl 10's. I like the box because it takes up minimal space in the back of the s10 blazer. He has an old alpine v12 (like the first ones that came out) running the 2 jl's, and it hits crazy hard. SO, since I dont want no stinkn 9 year old jl's, I am gonna sell the rl-p12, and get 2 rl-i 10's. I would like to re-build that enclosure, but, would the rl-i's dig it? (using the rl-i specs of course) Powerd by the mcd1000d Opinions....

going to get a new car soon, and i was thinking of going IB with the RL-p. having the extra trunk space would be nice but i'm not sure if the RLp will perform nicely in an IB configuration. right now i have the bad boy in a 2.0 net sealed box, pushed with 1k watts from an arc amp. so how well will the RLp work IB? thanks in advance for any feedback!

I am having a hell of a time deciding on a box size and tuning freq for a pair of RL-P 12's pushed with 1500 watts of class a/b power. I want major major impact with rock music. Metallica, AC/DC, Def Leppard, etc. I love Dave Mathews, when his bass drum kicks I want to feel it. I guess the big question is where exactly does the bass drum fall in the freq range? Is it in the high 30 and into the 40's where the green plot would do best? Or is it in the mid 20's to low 30's where the blue plot would be best? Or lastly a compromise of both as the red plot shows. I am so confused on which route to take. I do not listen to rap, so I don't care about that. Mostly rock, jazz and…

hoping to get a trade for an RL-p 15 for a pair of rli 8"s as I can get them under the seat in the truck? my buddy has the P and I may have a guy intrested in the P. I'm sure ultimatly the 15" can get louder, BUT I can run ported with the 8"s vs the 15" sealed, I'm more of a ported guy also. and the 2+ 8"s I have rocked before I killed them what do yall think? get the 15" and trade it? or keep it? i kinda have enough 15"s the storm X2 neo 15" quads under the house are sitting allready lol. they romp hard too 29mm xmax clean up until their limit, too bad I ran them off a 4000d each lol cones are all cracked, it was clean watts so the coils are fine just need new cones

i know were no supposed to, but 1.these proto 8s i have right now are simply amazing. 2. the rl-p 12 gets noticeably lower than the 8s. the orion 2500d that will arrive shortly is probably dangerous for either the 12 or the pair of 8s, but if i ran all 3 could it work, the 8s giveing me that awesome 'snappy' flavor, and the 12 that 'evil' low it does so well? all shareing 2500wrms? all sealed? i have read we cant mix sub sizes but what the hell, ive been told alot of things in my life and i never listened to it then? im gonna try it, how do i configure (wire) (2) 6 ohm subs and (1) dual 4 ohm sub to get the best from an orion 2500D? series parallel/paraleel...i cant even…

I know that this new RL-p setup has got to be loud. I know it will be. In the back of my mind I can't quit thinking, oh my gosh what if it isn't?? I keep thinking that a small box woofer doesn't lend itself to getting too loud. I'm coming from a 15" Ascendant Audio Atlas in 4.8NET @ 31hz. What I am wanting out of this setup is the following.... Twice as loud as the Atlas. More authority in the 60-80hz region, where the atlas lacked. By the numbers, it should be at least twice as loud, but I keep thining...its audio, chit doesn't always happen how formulas say, I may be dissapointed. I've got twice the cone area, 6mm more linear excursion, and the output advantage of not…

Hi again guys. Well I got my HU and 4-channel amp all installed so that leaves me with the sub and sub amp now. Originally I was going to go for a 10" Rl-i, but I would REALLY like to fit a 12" Rl-p into my single cab (1999 F-150). I took a few measurements and it looks like it will work. Tight, but it should work. It can either be forward facing, or down firing Questions... 1) How much space is reccommended to be left around the edge of the sub when mounting it? 2) How much space does the magnet need from the back of the box? 3) Is there a big sound difference between a forward facing sub and a down-firing one? 4) How much space should I leave in front of the …

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but have been looking into the RL-P's for a long time now. I'm about to buy two 15" RL-P's in a couple of weeks, and I have been looking into boxes lately. Like I said I'm going to be buying two 15's very shortly and I plan on dropping them in a ported box. If I give each sub 3.5cu ft after displacement what should the box be tuned too? Power will be an eD Nine.1 going to each sub. I'll use 3/4" or 1" MDF with bracing and the works... I figured I'd go with an open (non divided) box. The box will be going into the back of a '00 4dr GMC Jimmy... Might go in the '95 4dr Blazer.. not sure yet but I'll be able to fit 7cu ft total in the back n…

well i've gotten used to the sealed box, wanting a little more output so i think im going to tackle a ported box. i have some generic plans, another person from another forum is building this box for his solobarics. the outer dimensions would be basically the same, but i'm not sure about the port. i think i want it to fire upwards. heres the link to the plans. also, i've never built a ported box, could someone explain to me why its in square inches? thats the surface area of the inside of the port right? i would like to tune the box to around 30 hz, no higher than 32, any suggestions for the port? http://thirdgen.org/techbb2/showthread.php...threadid=327887 scroll down …

Ok I have to ask here I have a SE12 and Dont care if it is louder then a RL-p12. What I want to know is what one will smack you in the head the hardest with 600 watts. I am not going to worry about saving room in my car. I have an SE12 right now and if the RL-p has more kick to it I will change over. I just change my amp on my SE and it did give it some more life. I had a memphis 500d on it and just put a PG X600.1. I did not think there would be a big differance but but there is.They say the X600.1 put out 800 watts not 600 and and I think it is just a better amp. Well thanks for your help and sorry to bug everyone. Just have to say Mike is a good guy. we have email…

Alright so a while ago I was looking around for a subwoofer to fit my needs but I also wanted something that would be quality that I could put in my next car and be happy with for a long time. Then someone suggested soundsplinter, I took a look and decided that these are for me. So now im trying to find the right setup. I was thinking one 12 inch driver would be about right for me. So now comes the part deciding what to get with it. Im looking to spend no more than 400-500 tops. I was wondering what would be a good amp for this sub? I understand that it can handle a lot of power but I'm not sure I need A LOT. Also what kind of box would be right for this? I want …

Man you have the RL-i's looking so good that it is an injustice to the RL-p's. It actually looks like the RL-i's are your premium line. Of couse if this is gonna take away any time from the RL-s then forget it.......the site looks great!!!
